Old Seadog is fabo, check him out! I love the fact that he works hard at being himself and loving what he is doing. He really seems to know what he is doing.
This guys is the only "sailing blog" channel I can watch. The rest of them are a bunch of drama and clickbait BS. Seadog is a legend. Thanks for covering him.
In my youth (Many years ago) I bought a 54 ft Van de stat round bilge steel cutter 3/4 finished ... Galv. rigging , Canvas main , Cotton Jib's , No winches all Block & tackle , Got an old Sunderland flying boat angker winch & run the cooling for the Cummins 6 strait into the bilge (Put a hose down there when it was getting low BUT sailed the Pacific NZ & had a ball . It can be done .
This guy has some really good safety tips, he worked for the coast guard in the UK for many years. The boat is a dumpster fire but he makes it work somehow. I'm not sure people who don't know how to weld should get a steel boat.
No, he would really piss me off. I can imagine how did rip through their boat. being so damn snobbish and looking down on him he’s high and mighty judgmental comments.
Not sure if he has a seal 36….if barry has a center cockpit he’s never shown the aft cabin…it is a van de stadt design though..that is true..but he designed a lot of boats, and many one offs.
Can you do a video on sailing out of the south US (Louisiana, TX, Alabama, Mississippi). I’ve been watching your videos but honestly it seems like it isnt a great match for my area. your experience could prove that sentiment wrong and I would love that
There seems a disconnect with the mild generic criticism here vs the sharp criticism of the design by seadog. He has coast guard background so must have perspective critiquing the slow speed and rust spreading like cancer for example.
Here's some Sailing Brothers (24K subs) 1979 Rival 34 Sam Holmes Sailing (247K subs) 1979 Cape Dory 28 Sailing With Thomas (24K subs) 2012 Bavaria 55 Sail Life (127K subs) 1987 Trident Warrior but switching to a catamaran Adventureman Dan (53K subs) 1984 Beneteau Idylle 38 Erik Anderson (245K subs) 1976 Contessa 35
I’m curious why you say that capsize screening formula is useless. I still have so much to learn. But I thought that this number was a pretty important number for safety and sea worthiness?
How about Wave Rover Channel, @RoversAdventure. Sailing the world on a 21ft home built Junk rig sailboat. Pretty interesting tradesman, just a heads-up his vids are pretty tame, but I'd like to hear your opinion of his boat. It's super minimalist sailing, but this dude is truly a perfectionist, the absolute basics with NO shortcuts!!
Man, you're busy. Look forward to the Parlay video. That is the only channel that have seen ALL videos. Would I do the same restore he did (sponsors and all), HELL NO! But, it's a fun channel.
Absolutely love him. He is so real and inspiring. One of my favs. Way more than your judgment opinions. Only reason I’m watching this is because you mentioned him. He’ll not too long ago. You were dogging on my boat because there’s a full keel. But hey, it’s listed in the list of excepted boats in the Golden Globe race. Again we are all different in all like different things. Sad that you’re riding on the judgment of others. Do you ever meet him find that he is an amazing man. Heck most men his age are already pushing a walker. We all have different fingerprints and we all are different have different likes and desires. Thank goodness we’re not all alike because you……, urrrrrrrr….
He bought the boat in Portugal with an inheritance from his Dad. I enjoyed his earlier stuff but the content is much less interesting now. The boat is a heap of shit and combined with his relative lack of money I stopped watching as I think his sailing is now dangerous. He caused an alarm to be raised in Polynesia and then needed rescuing coming into Australia. He old Perkins is pooped. A bit sad really I don’t even think he’s enjoying it much anymore.

It took him 87 days to cross the pacific. He definately does not know anything about sailing. But he is going for it anyway
Hey Chris..try 'The Sailing brothers '. They have a cheap boa😢t and little experience..I'm addicted😢to them
This guys is the only "sailing blog" channel I can watch. The rest of them are a bunch of drama and clickbait BS. Seadog is a legend. Thanks for covering him.
I love these reviews! You should do Sailing Tritea and Sam Holmes.

I love the old Sea Dog.. He is such a good writer. He just cracks me up. I love his episodes.
Alluring arctic please. Also Florence made it around the world
Barry has said he wouldn’t buy a steel boat again.
@@kodiak7 what were his reasons?
@@CrazyCity26
In one episode I heard him complain about rust.
Tinnie's are common in northern Australia. The big ole saltwater crocs use inflatables for dental floss :D

The sailing Brothers.... Would be fun

Sailing yacht Florence is a lovely channel. I bet their boat costs a fair bit.
Recommended Channel: How to Sail Oceans
Agreed, this guy is old school sailing fun
@@Hotblackdesiato4242 He is the real deal when it comes to sailing.
"Dumpster fire" or "trash can" this is what I'm coming up with before watching the video
Barry (the old seadog) is one of the best, a bit over dramatic at times, but I would not miss an episode.
Not sure if he has a seal 36….if barry has a center cockpit he’s never shown the aft cabin…it is a van de stadt design though..that is true..but he designed a lot of boats, and many one offs.
Another viewer mentioned "How To Sail Oceans", I would second that channel

you can do sailing with thomas, on a babaria 50 or 55

the boat is a dumpster, there is no denying that
Thanks for adequate reviews! Cheers from seaman from container vessel 🍻
As mentioned, the Sailing Brothers!

Follow the boat is my preference
I love Old Sea Dog!
I’ve followed this channel. Very honest sailing, says it how it is. I thought he bought the boat in Tasmania Australia.
Its from uk, Poole, my hometown. Poole is famous for Sunseeker power yachts.
Look at the bumbling sailor. Good work!
There's a lot of love for Old Seadog for sure. Never known a guy to attract so much drama at sea. His boat is not something I would ever consider.
Please review Sam Holmes Sailing. Thank you sir!
Yes! Somebody said it before but "The Sailing Brothers" is an awesome channel. Quite sure you'll like them but not their boat 😂. They sail a Rival 34.
I will check them out, I assume I will agree with you on the boat
How about a review of Sailing Yacht Florence? They completed a circumnavigation about a year ago.
They really put that Oyster though its paces.
Wilderness of Waves, oh my
