Kittichai in Thailand has the best videos about Thailand I have ever seen on RUclips. Thank you for making and sharing these interesting and helpful videos. :)

Interesting to see the younger women saying what they feel they should say, what they have been told is "right", but when pushed a bit several seemed like they might actually be a bit more liberal. The older woman was aware, and accepting of the behaviour of youngsters, which has changed a bit over the years. Having lived in Thailand off and on for over 35 years, I have observed this change, just as I have observed changes in various aspects of culture in other countries. In truth, many aspects of culture are not as sacrosanct as some self anointed arbiters of "Thainess" would like people to think. Culture is dynamic and in some respects only a generation deep.

    • @michaelbw
      @michaelbw 6 лет назад

I don't think it is just a result of global communications. Exposure to other cultures is a factor, but the bigger truth is that cultures evolve over time, from generation to generation..... always have, always will.

Kittichai, I am from Florida in USA, all the videos I saw were about women and how to find them, your videos are a lot more interesting and really give us the insight of what Thais believe. These are the best videos I have seen. Thank you. I will see your country as soon as this Covid19 decides to go to a far away planet.

I'm so happy that I found your channel! I'm half Thai, but very much American. I plan on living there in the next few months to get to know my family, the language and the culture, so this is very helpful to me.
If you haven't thought about it already, can you do a video about how Thai people view mental health (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, etc.).

As a farang, it is nice to see what the average Thai person thinks. Hearing it from the "street" is better than one person telling you what THEY think...... Thanks for the information!!!!! You do a great job of letting us farangs know how the Thai people think and how they feel about things........... helps us not do things that annoy the people of Thailand.

Good video Kittichai,! Do you think you could make a video explaining the concept of ‘face’? Losing face, gaining face etc! Could be a complicated topic but maybe beneficial to farang! Khob khun krub! 🙏

Kittichai - very good concept for your channel, allowing others to get a perspective on Thai values. I will look forward to you getting more perspectives (or even repeats of some of your past subjects) now that you are now in Bangkok, they may be a little different from your time in Ratchathani. A couple of subjects you may consider in Bangkok would be "Thai etiquette on escalators (standing right walking left), mobile phone use, = texting while walking or blocking others while texting and consideration for others" Frankly I have never seen a Thai person hold the door for the person following them - they are blissfully unaware of anyone around them. I also recommend you make the questions a little more consistent with each interview, similar questioning will allow for a more complete perspective of the subject. You should also move the microphone to you when asking the questions, then returning it to the subject for their answer - holding the mic on the subject can intimidate them at times. Keep going on your channel - it is different than so many others.

As a new subscriber I'm glad that you have started to post regularly again, I really like your videos! On topic here, I'm a farang, but I'm very Thai in my thinking on this subject haha. I think maybe holding hand is my limit. By the way I understand a little Thai and your interviews are very funny and charming to listen to. Keep up the good work!

Good job Kittichai! I liked it! When you ask questions to people I think it would be better if you speak closer to the microphone so we can better hear your voice. Your videos are awesome for better understanding thai culture and practicing thai listening skills! Now that you are in Bangkok it would be great to have interviews about lifestyle differences between Bangkok and Esan. Cheers.

Kittichai, good VLOG. Was given a recommendation from Kev-in-Thailand. Just subscribed and started watching the backlog of VLOGs. This one I think many foreigners would do well to watch and heed, and I just don't mean those on holiday. I know some people are just the "touchy feely" type naturally but I think they need to suppress their desire to hug and cuddle almost perfect strangers....just my view, as personally I don't feel comfortable with it..... Here or anywhere else for that matter. Anyway, again good VLOG. Will be watching more.👍

Very interesting and enjoyable. I've subbed. Maybe you could hold the microphone to your mouth when you ask the questions, to make the sound a bit clearer, or perhaps get a lapel microphone and add the sound from that when you edit the video. Just a thought. Looking forward to the new videos and catching up with your old ones.

Good one Kittichai. PDA is not the wai of Thai people mostly but you can hold her hand so she does not wander off. Someone told me if a Thai woman touch you then she is a Ladyboy as Thai women are more reserved lol. Here in the west the modern understanding is hugging is okay but there are rules. If same sex short hug and you must slap the back of each other to signal it is not sexual. Same with opposite sex and one is married, slap the back. If you don't slap the back people think funny.Maybe even you are on the prowel.

Great video mate. :) Just one thing: don't automatically assume that your audience prefers how things are done in the West. If we are watching a video about Thailand it's probably because we like Thailand, and there's a good chance that the majority of your audience likes how things are done over there.
I personally find kissing in public unsightly and dumb.

It's OK if it's your dog, or a child, or your mother. Anything that even suggests something sexual is verboten, that's for behind closed doors. Which is a bit weird, given the Thais' well known propensity for enjoying the more hedonistic aspects of life.

It's different if it's parents and children , that's normal to show your child support.
But as couples ...even holding hands shows insecurity and anything more is too much , regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
