  • The village of Sharnford is between Hinckley and Leicester, and not far from the Warwickshire border. Soar Brook runs through the village, becoming the River Soar to the East of the church. The tower is in the Hinckley district of the Leicester Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers. The church was first built in around 1180, but much of it dates from the 15th century. It consists of a nave, chancel and tower. The tower was once topped with a spire, but this was removed in 1772.
The bells are rung from the ground floor, accessed at the back of the church through a screen, with a step up into the ringing room. There is a further raised platform in the ringing room, meaning that some of the bells are rung from a higher level than the others. There are 6 bells, tenor weight 10-2-6 cwt. Further details about the bells can be found here: dove.cccbr.org...
    A note on the ringing:
This recording was made at a Leicester Guild midweek meeting in November 2021. The method being rung is London Surprise Minor.
