I love how Trevor is slowly trying to actually get you guys to learn the stuff that he's teaching. Like Jason having to shake the ice, or having you guys make the old fashions in the 5 bottle bar episode. Also, the blue apron ad was perfect. I wish we could see you guys cook more specifically because Brian said it was his Kryptonite. Maybe he'd feel better about it after spending some time deliberately practicing in the kitchen!
I really think the modern rogue needs a mixology book. get a couple more drink recipes out and combine it all into a nice book with the drink history and whatnot.
Out of all the blue apron "commercials" I have seen this is by far the best actually showing the process of preparing the food and being witty and yourselves it's awesome I applaud you modern rogue
The best part was you seasoning your food with the Bug-A-Salt; because my Dad and I thought about doing that when I got one for Christmas. I now have to share your video so he can watch the "ad".
would you guys consider doing a beard/hair tending/trimming/cutting video? i heard that taking care of a beard takes a bit of work and it would be interesting to see what actually goes down! (i don't have a beard but i have friends who do...)
I love how Trevor is like "ok enough watching, time to do some work." Then again he is trying to get them to remember all his techniques and for that hats off to you sir!
I approve all approvals throughout and across all of Space-Time, if "X" represents approvals, then my duty is to approve X to the power of Aleph Null for an eternity... it is my sacred duty, and I am sworn to approve.
So much time of the video is an ad, that after skipping 3 minutes i still ended up on the same ad. Which was so entertaining, I had to go back the the beggining of it and watch it whole
I am thrilled to see Leopold Bros get a shout-out here. I was a customer at their restaurant-cum-distillery (or is it vice versa?) in Michigan, where they were forced out due to high rent and relocated to Colorado. I was sad to see them go -- and actually bought a ton of their glassware and dishware, which I still use today in my kitchen and home bar. Every time I use a snifter or Irish whiskey glass, I think of them. I also still nurse bottles of their Georgia Peach and Cherry liqueurs, as well as a stockpile of their absinthe, having used up their infused-brandy-which--is-legally-not-gin (which they now legally call gin). Highly recommend all of the above, although not all in the same drink. Whoa.
Any Harvey Wallbangers I had back in the 80s had the Galliano mixed into the drink, not sitting in top. Much better flavor. Though it really was more popular in the 60s/70s.
I know it was just a sponsor segment but can we please get a modern rogue cooking show like a podcast with a video style thing or something id watch the shit out of that
Some day I'll have a restaurant. I hope that by the time I accomplish that there will be enough Modern Rogue footage to play it all day in my restaurant. 🍺🍻🍺🍻
That Blue Apron demo might have been better than the episode itself. After seasoning with the salt gun, I am disappointed you didn't apply the pepper with the Salt pepper-ball gun.
This makes me really want a Modern Rogue Cooking Series. You guys could definitely be partners with Blue Apron... "If we can do it, you definitely can."
I *want* to like you guys + crew. I know I'm just one in a bazillion, but: I haven't been able to watch a lot of your stuff because it all seems like "easy" work, and/or alcohol-related. A "oh wow, use this flavoring and apply simple physics and stretch the concept to 3 other 'episodes' to the point it's so watered down who's going to care" kind of way. It just feels like you've found a groove in a boulder and rested on it. You need to get up and chisel at it. Love you!
I would be interested to hear which episodes in particular you feel this way about (we don't do too many multi-episode series.) I think you might have a fundamental misunderstanding of what we're doing with the channel, which might explain why you feel this way. This sounds like you expect our videos to be lessons that we are teaching our audience, how to's of a sort, but really we're just showing Brian and Jason learning those things (not teaching). It's an important distinction to make. It might be stretched out or watered down to you because we aren't hitting explanations by the numbers, because it's a process to go from complete ignorance to having a solid foundation of understanding, and not everybody gets there by just running down the bullet points. There are excellent channels out there that cover that methodology of teaching, and they are typically run by people who really know what they're doing, but that's not our strong suit and it would be disingenuous for us to pose as such. There are the occasional episodes where we approach it with a bit more knowledge beforehand (our passwords episode comes to mind, where I personally injected a very dense delivery of information.) Generally speaking though, we're interested in making a wide variety of topics accessible to people by showing that you don't already need to be an expert to be interested in the subject, and even through fumbling and failure there is valuable information to gain.
could you do a "modern rogue remix" I love learning all the history and science behind the drinks, but id also like to have a library that I could quickly refrence :)
I got distracted for like 5 minutes and I come back to see Jason and Bryan cooking fish. I read the title and I was very confused on how they were making vodka cocktails
hey modern rogue, nice video i really appreciate youre work and sorry for my bad english but..... i am italian, i live in italy and i had a bar for about 10 years and i never, never even hear about Galliano. So i did my research and i've learned that it is not so popular in italy like other ''amari'' like Averna, Petrus, Unicum, Cynar or Fernet-Branca, but it's made in the Netherlands and it's famous in north Europe and in America.... Well like we say ''non si finisce mai di imparare''.....you will never stop learning:)
You guys found a way to make the Blue Apron ad really fun and interesting - I just wish we could've had some slightly longer bits at the bar before and after. Maybe some more complex drink recipes with an ad intermission so that it's closer to a 20, 22-minute video? I should probably be tweeting at Bryce and Brant about this, huh.
I mean, ideally sure. This is the last of our cocktail episodes we filmed *6 months ago* and the sponsorship was a pretty recent deal (like a week ago) so we paired it with the most on-theme episode we currently have available in our backlog.
If you like this episode, why not share it on Twitter or Reddit?

first
I WON! YAY!
The Modern Rogue the video is shorter than usual
You know what?, keep those ads, are just as fun as the rest of the video.
What knife are you using to cut the ginger? Sorry if you go over that in another episode. I just got into this channel.
So, apparently now you need to do a _Cooking with Rogues_ series...
Who's down?
ME!
hell yeah batman
Binging with Rogueish
"blue Apron makes it so easy so that guys like us can cook."
>unloads salt gun onto the fish
kitchen gun 2

"BANG! BANG! BANG!"
I love how the ad was basically a MR episode inside another MR episode. Sooo....TWO EPISODES THIS WEEK! Yay! This is how you do ads.
Thanks, man!
The only channel that I truly enjoyed the sponsor 😂😂😂😂
Thanks!
awesome!
The Modern Rogue You guys should definitely do more cooking episode 😏
Jason Murphy No problem, dude! Have been enjoying your videos for quite sometime now. Keep it going 😬
I just realised Bryan as a salt cannon
And we're gonna top this with prun- i mean orange juice
Glad to see that this thing is still going
4:32 if anyone wants to watch the part instantly
I love how Trevor is slowly trying to actually get you guys to learn the stuff that he's teaching. Like Jason having to shake the ice, or having you guys make the old fashions in the 5 bottle bar episode.
Also, the blue apron ad was perfect. I wish we could see you guys cook more specifically because Brian said it was his Kryptonite. Maybe he'd feel better about it after spending some time deliberately practicing in the kitchen!
I love that Trevor seems to be having more and more fun with every episode.
I really think the modern rogue needs a mixology book. get a couple more drink recipes out and combine it all into a nice book with the drink history and whatnot.
Co-signed!
i'd buy it
Yes!!
Why do you have a rifle that shoots salt .... A Salt Rifle .... never mind, carry on
That's actually what it's called, if I"m not mistaken.
I'm pretty sure they're for shooting flies, but I'd say shooting your food is a good enough use of it.
I have been peppered with puns today and that just rubbed salt in the wound
It’s the new salt gun
Supernatural would like to have that gun
One of the few channels where I don't skip the sponsor plug... because they usually make it fun to watch, especially this time.
That's how you do a commercial. It was as interesting as the episode itself.
Thank you so much!
The Ad was almost better than the rest of the episode. Except it's Trevor so. No
"But first, a rogue's got to eat, ya dig?"
The only channel that makes a sponsor segment in a video truly enjoyable. I loved every second of it!
I dont even drink. I just like watching you guys.
I've always considered myself akin to vodka. Totally unassuming but in the end a rough time
Highly underrated comment... 🤣
Finally after hearing so much about Tittos vodka, I'm starting to see it in pubs and stores in the UK when I hadn't seen it before
I always love pausing at 10:06 just to look at the beautiful image of Jason gingerly holding pepper and Brian with a salt gun assaulting fish fillets.
would you guys consider doing a beard/hair tending/trimming/cutting video? i heard that taking care of a beard takes a bit of work and it would be interesting to see what actually goes down! (i don't have a beard but i have friends who do...)
That's actually one I've been thinking about for a while. I need it!
Better yet, do it with the straight razor for extra rogue points.
You could have it sponsored by the dollar shave club!
SaitosaBard and extra Brian cutting himself
Michael Kulinski Probably would happen with a safety razor anyway.
These are my favorite episodes you do
I love how these 2 are the only ones that managed to make Blue Apron look like a tedious process.
That's too bad. We were actually stunned at how easy it was.
Well when I saw Brian stick his hand into a stove flame I didn't know what to think.
I'm astonished you guys find great guests. I learned by watching your videos that you can be knowledgeable and camera-friendly!
awesome!!
I was gonna skip the blue apron ad until I saw Brian shooting food with some sort of toy gun... You've piqued my interest once again, Brushwood.
NAILED IT
you two are seriously my favourite duo
never a dull moment with you on screen
Thanks!
I love you guys. Even the sponsor spot was entertaining, if you guys ever do a meet up in the UK I’d happily buy you both a pint
I think I really want to make this happen this year.
The Modern Rogue That’s awesome! Hopefully it all works out, and I’ll keep my word on the beers too if it does.
Brian Brushwood: fire professional extraordinaire
I remember the first time I found out about the Harvey Wallbanger. I laughed for a good five minutes because I'm absolutely immature.
To be honest, I love theses, I'm always hyped to see one poping up in my feed
Never gonna drink or smoke in my entire life but still watch all these episodes cause I know it's gonna be fun anyways.
Thanks! We sincerely appreciate that.
The amount of pure teeth gritting rage from Trevor was genuinely striking. He truly gets so much satisfaction for every single one sold.
I love the dynamic of the three of them, great series!!
Oh ho ho we need sooo many more cooking segments, please! Sponsored or not it was super enjoyable to watch!
Also a fantastic episode as always guys! x
AWESOME! We were hoping our "two idiots try to cook a thing" would land :-)
I can't say I enjoy drinking, but holy hell do these cocktail specials get me invested!
I love how Trevor is like "ok enough watching, time to do some work." Then again he is trying to get them to remember all his techniques and for that hats off to you sir!
Trever not letting you two live the Pruno down is one of the most iconic things ever bless
I don't drink but I approve this message.
I approve of your approval.
The Modern Rogue I approve your approval of their approval
I approve all approvals throughout and across all of Space-Time, if "X" represents approvals, then my duty is to approve X to the power of Aleph Null for an eternity... it is my sacred duty, and I am sworn to approve.
Anodyne Melody I approve this
I don't approve this message but I drink
Vodka isn't as odor-less as you think. I can always smell it from a across the room and always taste it regardless of how filtered it is.
Loved the episode guys! Especially the part where Brian didn't burn off his hand.
I honestly love this ad. Like it was fun just watchin' y'all experiment having fun with the box. lol
I gotta be honest; the best part (for me) is the part when the grown men started cooking
I'm a complete idiot in the kitchen.
Jason Murphy I,ve gotta be honest again; you kinda are, Just Kidding, i love you, krav maga.
Everyone loves cooking, especially cooking with salt guns!
A Trever episode + that amazingly done blue apron ad makes for a fantastic video
really enjoyed the sponsor part! A man gotta do what a man gotta do
So much time of the video is an ad, that after skipping 3 minutes i still ended up on the same ad. Which was so entertaining, I had to go back the the beggining of it and watch it whole
Glad to hear it! We (clearly) had fun filming it.
This was a good sponsor
nice! Glad you approve. that catfish was delish.
DarceyNE willne and the modern rogue. Great taste
thematty i agree
I vote for a cooking with Modern Rogue segment every video. Or maybe a weekly Livestream?
I am thrilled to see Leopold Bros get a shout-out here. Oh interesting they’re in denver now I should spend a day to go over there that’s only like a 2 hour drive
On the next Modern Rogue, Brian learns knife skills.
Have fun with your new pumps, Jason!
They're ferocious.
Any Harvey Wallbangers I had back in the 80s had the Galliano mixed into the drink, not sitting in top. Much better flavor. Though it really was more popular in the 60s/70s.
Trevor!!!! And watchin yall cook was great....I also want that kitchen. More trevor vids dudes.
The Modern Rogue is so underrated
spread the word!
I know it was just a sponsor segment but can we please get a modern rogue cooking show like a podcast with a video style thing or something id watch the shit out of that
While we were filming the cooking portion this week, I was thinking the same thing.
I fucking loved it lol. I didn't even realize it was a sponsor video until the end of the segment. I thought the video just changed to the next one
I'm a simple Polish guy. I hear about Polish vodka, I give a thumbs up ;)
Some day I'll have a restaurant.
Yay! Trevor is awesome. Much love from an ex uk bartender.
haven't done a cocktail episode in a while. Need more Trevor! How about discussing the Jack Rose?
This makes me really want a Modern Rogue Cooking Series. You guys could definitely be partners with Blue Apron... "If we can do it, you definitely can."
Glad I finally found out the name for this bar! Will try to find a way to get in when I'm 21 and in Austin!
I *want* to like you guys + crew.

Yeah, what Brandt said: these aren't tutorials, and we're not experts. The faster you let go of that idea, the happier you'll be with our adventure.
My life is easy just like in the videos....everything works out fine. Why work any harder?
This are my favorite episodes!
Yay! Brian didn't hurt himself!
bwakel310 but he did have a band-aid on his hand in the ad!
and he stuck his finger in fire
Not yet
I was expecting a Salt Gun accident.
I just realized how great blue apron is during quarantine
I would watch an entire series of these guys cooking Blue Apron meals
I'd like to see Trevor's take on a Chilton. Keep up the good work guys and greetings from the Texas Panhandle.
The one channel where the sponsored commercial bits are actually entertaining right with the show.
Thanks! Glad it's not a chore to watch.
of all the blue apron ads, this is the only one I didn't skip to where the actual video begins again.
NICE
as an aspiring chef, watching them "cook" gave me heart burn... thank Christ i learned two new drinks... cause now i need them
could you do a "modern rogue remix" I love learning all the history and science behind the drinks, but id also like to have a library that I could quickly refrence :)
excellent idea.
The Modern Rogue I want a share of the royalties! 😉😂😂
Greetings from Poland!!! Enjoy our Vodka!
Hello from Texas!
Loving these videos with Trevor! Could you please make a video where he makes a "Blue lagoon"?
we need more blue apron ads like these
Honestly the ad was just as entertaining as the rest of the video, and not in a bad way. Note to self: Get a salt gun.
Yo I would kill for a series of Jason and Brian unscripted in the kitchen being goofy 🤣🤣
The last time I was this early I didn't know Brian was Teller's illegitimate son
heh.
wait is he really?
Nicholas Polkey Trever is younger than Brian so probably not
@@woahitsnick4965 I think he means the guy from Penn and teller
Idk how anybody could consider cranberry juice sweet. Love the episode guys, bring in trevor more often
I got distracted for like 5 minutes and I come back to see Jason and Bryan cooking fish. I read the title and I was very confused on how they were making vodka cocktails
Time for Trevor to make a #8! Maybe one with Blanco and one with Mezcal to compare and contrast.
Is there an episode on the salt gun or at least one coming??? I feel like I would've noticed it if it had been used before 😂
Bug-a-salt's are the only proper way to apply salt to food.
I absolutely love this episode. Maybe because a lot of this vodka's come from my country :D
please more bar episodes :D i love them
Finally, an episode with Trevor
Imagine if these two took over Mythbusters, they’re the perfect fit
Only with about half of the brain power. :)
legend testers
Brian is like a small child learning things in these videos
accurate.
Haven’t caught a video in a while, but you are lookin good Mr. Murphy!
Many thanks!
I love the cocktail episodes
Pro tip: if you grease your pan before adding the kale, it makes it easier to slide the key under the garbage 😁😁
They should really have their own cooking channel
hey modern rogue, nice video i really appreciate youre work and sorry for my bad english but..... i am italian, i live in italy and i had a bar for about 10 years and i never, never even hear about Galliano.
I just watched your video's the hole day😍❤❤❤
An excellent use of your time!
Never did I ever think an ad in a video would make me want to whittle kale. Also, does that gun actually shoot salt?
The bar there in is hidden as a floppy disk repair co right next to the handle bar but you need a code to get in but that changes every week or so
Awesome show, Thanks!.
How many Wallbangers in are they when they made the ad?
“They do everything you don’t like about cooking” they do the dishes?
Heh.
If you guys are going to keep doing Blue Apron stuff, you need to do a crossover with Binging With Babish.
Can y’all do rum and cola? It has a really interesting history too
Really? I never would have thought.
That explains the beards then. No worries, you guys are still putting out good content :)
