Patrick thank you for this great video. I just changed my engine air and cabin air filters. Your video was easy to follow and loved your close-up shots and the step-by-step process. I had a little trouble getting my glove box back together, but I did it. I have a 2020 Crosstrek Limited and bought offbrand filters with no problems. My filters looked pretty much like yours did😆 I have your video saved for the next time. Thank you again.

hey patrick, i am about to perform the easy steps in a 2019 crosstrek, things like the air filters, and have the dealership do the rest. is there any concern you have with this process? is there any concern about resetting computer or sensor settings afterwards? thanks. btw - i have the 60k dealer recommended service list.
I noticed when you installed the cabin filter, that you put the new one in 90° rotated from the one you took out. In other words, the pleats on the one you took out were oriented to the front & back of the car. The pleats on the one you put in were oriented towards the sides of the car. Does it make a difference? Is the filter square so that it fits in either way?
When you install a cabin air filter you should typically see the label. The dirty filter was crushed because it was installed incorrectly (rotated 90deg, as you noted). The housing is deeper than it is wide.
Is that new filter an OEM filter with an "UP" arrow on it or is it an after market filter with an arrow that indicates air flow direction? You never said anything about that. Air flow is downward.
Great question. The filter I installed is unmarked, because it’s aftermarket. But if you have the filter with the “UP” marked with an arrow pointing up, the side it’s pointing towards should be on the top when you slide it inwards.
