  • Apologies for fast text. I will fix it in future videos.
    This is my attempt at a straightforward and informative guide on how to locate any ore be it Tin, Copper, Iron, Zinc - whatever.
    If you do not feel like watching and prefer to read:
    In order to prospect in Vintage story you must use the Prospecting Pickaxe. The axe has 2 modes, Density Search and Node search
    Density search will tell you 3 things:
    1. What ores could have spawned in the area
    2. What the likelyhood they did spawn is
    3. The percentage of blocks in the area that would be that ore
    Example: Decent Native Copper 15% - This means there is a Decent chance copper is here, and if it is, it will make up about 15% of the blocks below.
    The second Pick Mode is Node search. Node search is not on by default as it requires the use of a command:
    /worldConfig propickNodeSearchRadius 8
    Node search tells you what ores are actually nearby within the radius set by the command (Between 1 and 8)
    I will not be using it in this video
    To prospect - simply find an area with any reading at all on the ore you are looking for and begin systematically searching North South East and West of the area to see if it gets any higher. If it does get higher, repeat this process and chase down the highest spot
    Once there, begin punching holes in the earth about 6 blocks apart
    Use a water column to allow you to get back up easily, and reduce the danger of hitting a cave and falling through

    Your video should be on the wiki! Amazing job explaining!

    I found an "Ultra-high copper 20%" thanks to this video in the lake in the back of my home. Thank you lol.

    I definitely understand why node search is disabled, once you properly triangulate a large deposit you're almost guaranteed by find ore digging straight down.

    Just note that "permille" (‰) is one-tenth of an equivalent "percent" (%), so 10‰ is one of every one hundred, same as 1%

      Ah man, yeah I never noticed at all that it was not a % thanks!

    Just wanted to say good job on the video. 11 subs and 36 (37 w/ me) likes as of this moment yet a great and informative video on this. nice 👏

      Thanks man, I really love this game and I struggled a lot with mining but I think I have a lot to say about it these days.
      Ive been thinking of doing other videos on getting through the other progression but im not very good at editing haha

    This is very informative! I've ignored the text "Very poor", "Decent", etc. wrongly assuming it holds the same info as the percentage.

    How do you see the minerals/fullbright while noclipping? I can't find anything about a similar command, and when I noclip I'm only able to distinguish caves and other holes in the terrain, not any special minerals and blocks

    Do you know how to turn on class exclusive recipes since it’s possible o guess with commands I can’t find the command :/ anywhere I googled it like 30 times
    This video was top tier finally it’s explained properly.

    • @VintageCopperman
      @VintageCopperman  2 года назад

      Hey there, yep the confusion is probably because there is Server Configuration and World Configuration on the wiki
      The command you're looking for is
      /worldConfig classExclusiveRecipes [true|false]
      I think to disable it you want to set that to false
      Sometimes, Vintage will also have a problem where it doesn't accept true or false in which case you might want to try putting in 0 or 1 instead

    wait, i heard that the area is one chunk (32x32) centered at the first block you sampled. You said it is defined by a triangle using those three blocks. Can anyone confirm?

    • @resemblelife
      @resemblelife 2 месяца назад

      I thought this too, I have been testing three samples in a straight line. Would be nice to know. Also if it's really triangulation, how big the triangle can be.

    Some ores just don\t spawn in large quantities. Like tin.

    Why nobody is reading ‰ sign correctly? What is wrong with everyone? It is per mille sign, not percent sign. 6‰ = 0.6%

    • @VintageCopperman
      @VintageCopperman  Год назад +1

      You're right I totally missed that. I guess 0.2% cassiterite would be a lot, 0.2‰ makes more sense for what you get

      permille was never taught to me in school, I actually learned it proper via this game.

    • @voidseeker4394
      @voidseeker4394 Год назад

      @@higgsbonbon I understand that this unit is not very popular in english-speaking countries, but It annoys me that people seem to ignore the fact that sign they see is obviously different from the percent sign and call it percent anyways, without even trying to research. Sometimes they even make guide videos without grasping what they are actually looking at themselves.

    • @Hughmong_Us
      @Hughmong_Us Год назад +5

      @@voidseeker4394 It's because we glance at it too quickly to notice. Like other guy said, I never knew of this symbol until someone pointed out that it's in this game and what it means. Since I never saw this symbol at the time I started playing, I would just glance at the symbol quickly and assumed it was "percent" because I have never in my life seen a symbol that looked anything like it. Now I know to look for it in this game, but any future permill symbol I come across in the future will also be missed by my glancing because it is so rare for me to see.
      In short, it's not obviously different to people like me unless I am paying attention.

    • @agnichatian
      @agnichatian 5 месяцев назад +1

      Why ? Because that is not taught in our garbage govt. schools. So people assume it's just a differently-styled percent sign. And since they don't know it's called 'per mille', they wouldn't look up 'per mille' or any of it's alt spellings.
