    i’m in design school and we’re assigned this book in multiple classes but, steal like an artist is an amazing design book! it doesn’t just relate to interiors but it provides a new perspective with creativity.

    It’s taken me a year to learn revit in school ( and still have a lot to learn) but in the end it’s actually is faster than auto cad and sketch up! I need to get back in auto cad and refresh my memory there😭 auto cad now seems like so much more work than revit. But I know knowing all programs is what’s best

    Hi Mimi! I've been watching your channel for awhile now. I found you first because of your interior design content which is something I love learning about though I have degrees in other things. On top of that, I played soccer my entire life and in college and now enjoy watching shelly's channel as well. I remember the video you two did where you gave each other design/soccer quiz questions, so funny! So, there's one more thing ---- I live in Tulsa! I could not believe my eyes when I got on one day and saw the video that you had moved here. Mind blown!! I'm planning on going to the game on the 16th with my husband. So excited to see FC Tulsa play and support you and Shelly.

    I have the Professional Practice book because of school and I found it pretty informative, my professors never taught us but they suggested we get it!

    Love your content! Quick question, how often do you adjust a design to fit ada standards?

    • @MimiEstelle
      @MimiEstelle  3 года назад

      Most of my designs do fit Ada, but if a client has any particular needs I will definitely make sure it is 100% compliant. Commercial is a different story. It has to be compliant.
      In houses like this one, it’s a bit of a different story since all of the hallways, fixtures, equipment, etc. are preexisting

    Hi Mimi! I need to find an online course to learn AutoCAD. Does CAD have the standard sizes of cabinets that can be put in, or do you need to know those? I’m learning Sketchup for 3D rendering, but then will need to learn photoshop & Vray or enscape for photo realistic renders. So much to learn!

    • @rallimb486
      @rallimb486 3 года назад +1

      hey, designer here! CAD has blocks that you can purchase...but they’re often from sketchy websites in my experience and I haven’t ever found cabinets in the mix- you can easily find a list of standard cabinet sizes and maybe print it out to have as a quick reference to build from 😀 probably more efficient too

    I like the idea of the laundry room being close to the bedrooms. Also she might want an opening to the playroom to keep an eye on the kids. What printer do you use?

    What program are you using to redesign the floor plans?

  • @jakariaaniya
    @jakariaaniya 3 года назад

    I am currently a junior majoring in Interior Design and I wanted to ask do you create the exterior of the house from scratch in AutoCad or is that given? Within school we’ve created floor plans and house exteriors but I just wanted to know when it comes to actually being in the design field are the house exteriors in AutoCad already created or we as designers create them from scratch ?

    • @DawnJennette
      @DawnJennette 3 года назад +1

      Fellow designer here! This really depends on the project. If you're working with an architect on the project, then they usually will do all the exterior drawings, and you can request the cad files. But if it just you as the designer on the project, then it would be up to you to create all those drawings!
