Most recent book I've read: Educated by Tara Westover. It's a very raw account of the very non-ordinary life of an american girl who only started studying after turning 18. It is an auto-biography that reflects on the way education can be absolutely transformative to our perception of the world and how it can help us lead a better life. It also deals with topics of growing up, family, abuse, how to communicate with others who have opposing views... It is one of those stories that I will always carry with me. Maybe you will enjoy reading it to, if you haven't :)
Most recent one : The Winners by Fredrik Backman (part 3 of the Beartown series) A quite nice fiction series that I found, over time, to even be thinking about randomly during the days :)
hi, Jade. this is really off topic but i just want to thank you. you have no idea how much you’ve helped me with my body image. all this pressure, all those unrealistic standards… i’ve spent the last 1,5 years (i only will turn 14 next month) of my life basically trying to lose weight and worrying about my body and what i eat. it’s crazy to believe how it’s taken away all my passions, goals and even some relationships away. let alone enjoying the simple moments in life. but you? you’ve literally saved me. i’m currently trying to recover -i’ve tried many times but relapsed every single one of them- from this terrible cycle but when i saw that I’ve gained 4 kg, i’m really fighting the urge to restrict again. and these few days i’ve been having panic attacks and terrible anxiety for hours… because i’m caught up between this desire to go back to losing weight as i’m not feeling confident or happy, but at the same time i know that things will only get worse and my life’s purpose will probably be fully gone if i do.. i really hope this doesn’t come across triggering or somewhat arrogant, i really didn’t mean it to be this way. but basically when i found your channel and watched several videos of yours.. you’ve inspired me so much! i feel so much more safe now. i love your authenticity and kindness so much. you truly seem like such a genuine and incredible person. i really love you and your channel. i’m sure i’m not the only one to whom you have helped drastically. thank you❤❤❤ i really hope you can see this🥹
You spoke to my heart tonight. Feels weird how many coincidences there are : I took a bath last week (instead of usual showers) because I hadn't had one in an eternityyy. I watched a TED talk called "Your Menstrual Cycle is Your Superpower", comparing the cycle to the 4 seasons as well. AND I have finished reading the Alchimist quite recently too. I like to think that Life is sending a message : we are more connected as humans than we think. (I don't really know how to call this extraordinary force that gives us signs, but I believe it's there. The Alchimist is convincing!😉) Take care 💖
Dear Jade! I love so much that there is always something in your videos that speaks to me, that addresses me. I always save your videos to my To Watch list and watch them when I have time or feel like it. It's so incredible that somehow I'm always in the mood to be so spoken to by the content you create. The end of the year, December mostly, was a real rush for me, I wasn't really in the holiday mood(interestingly enough, I couldn't even connect with this video then). But now I had time, I was scrolling what to choose. It was a rush in the days leading up to the new year, but somehow with this video I slowed down. Thank you!
I rarely read nonfiction for leisure, but recently totally randomly picked up “Translating Myself and Others” by Jhumpa Lahiri. It was this beautiful read that discussed language and translation and authorship and expression and family and history. It’s a series of essays that connect so well but feel like they shouldn’t. The audiobook is read by the author, which was a very cool experience. I am admittedly a crier, but the ending was so impactful and made me so emotional. I haven’t stopped thinking about the book since I finished it.
I really like winter because it feels like a season that's perfect for rest and recharging for the next year. Very cozy, very loving. Alas, I can't do much of that since the last 2 years because I have my end semester exams 😭
Loved this video! Books I'd recommend are "The Vanishing half", "Circe", "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe", "Rise to the sun", "Loveless", "How to break up with your phone"
ive read alchemist is like yk it was on my tbr and you dont feel to read and you judge it alot for being boring and old style novelize, but when i read alchemist i swear i regretted, i regret for judging it and now its in my heart like i love it aloooooootttt like the journey all the things happened his desire to accomplish his treasure even he himself dont know what it is but the trust he gave to the journey i love it and now it is my biggest inspiration to accomplish my goalssss🌿🌿
My favorite favorite book ever - talking to strangers by malcom gladwell. Idk if youve heard about it but it basically explains how we think we can easily understand people we dont know but everything is wayy moree complicated than that exploring diferent cognitive biases. It completely changed the way i look at communication!! Can't recommend it enough
Going to a bookstore would be a good start to picking my fancy books about Fiction/Family Life/General, or other novels. Other than, reading ebooks on my phone recently. Thanks for your suggestions about how to choose a book regardless of what everyone thinks.
I'm finally finishing "Just One Damned Thing after Another" which is a time-traveling archaeology novel. I actually got the whole series from my sister-in-law for Christmas last year. She said the main character reminded her of me and I was soooooo scared to pick it up, because I severely struggled with my mental health at that time and "what if the main character has an embarrassing flaw", but now I've started and I don't think I've ever received a bigger compliment in my whole life than resembling Dr. Maxwell and her struggle to find herself a place in archaeology and the Institute
Taking a warm bubble bath is relaxing in the wintertime even if Lisbon is much warmer where I live in Ottawa, Canada where it is cold and has snow now. You can read the Judy Bloom book 'Are You There God, It's Me Margaret' because it talks about girls starting to have their periods.
Will definitely be purchasing Period Power. I never thought of our cycles as an analogy to the weather but it makes so much sense. I have a fitbit and am notified when I’m fertile/ovulation day or when my period is due - have noticed differences in personality/energy/mood, and I think Period Power will help shed light on this phenomenon in more detail. Imagine how much research and books would have gone into periods if men were the ones who had them every month! About time us girls/women had more knowledge about our bodies to empower us 💪
Jade!! I just finished reading a book called Being Mortal by Athul Guwande. It’s about his journey as a very accomplished surgeon on learning how to break bad news to patients and how to help the people in their last stages of life without giving them false hope like the healthcare system often accidentally does. I know it’s not really like a lot of the books you have been reading recently but this book really helped me learn how to see the world in different perspectives!
I didn't know Alexa and you were friends, was really unexpected to see you talking about her book (unexpected, but great!!). Thanks for sharing your thoughts on all these books, I'll definitively read "Sie lieben" next.
The Book that got me back into reading was „Detransition, Baby“ by Torrey Peters. I just think it‘s a fantastic book, big recommendation! Also how cute that you are learning German with Alexa‘s book! I‘m german and Wilhelmine, her girlfriend, was my most listened Artist this year. Maybe her music could also be a cute way of learning german :)
You seem to be so brave, appreciative and strong in a soft way:). Thank you for your video. When your German gets better (definitely!) I recommend all of Pascal Mercier's books. The "Night Train to Lisbon" is certainly also available in English and it fits your current living situation
I’m reading the chronicles of narnia for the first time as a 22 year old and they are so enjoyable and sweet :3 ❤️ i’m taking my time reading them as well so it’s been a very cozy experience ✨
OMG this video has such good vibes!! I personally love winter just because of it being cozy and leading us towards introspection!! thank you for posting it and WOW being sponsored by LUSH is the absolute dream come true!! you deserve it ❤ also I will totally read the book about periods, sounds lovely. love you Jade, have an amazing day ❤
Just Kids is one of my all time favorites!! I have so much love and respect for Patti Smith, she is honestly such a great artist! Seeing you read this book just makes me so happy
I love this Jade!!! You have inspired to have a bath and read night ❤. Something I read recently that loved is girl friends by Holly Bourne which is all about strong female friendships and growing up ! I’m also rereading the Song of Ballads and Songbirds after watching the film. You’re so right…let’s take advantage of more dark cosy days, put our feet up and read!
we love good book recos!! i'm personally a huuuge fan of Sally Rooney's work, she has such a special and accurate way of describing the complexity of humans, her novels never disappoint💛
Braiding Sweetgrass is an amazing book to read! It's written by a female native american (Robin Wall Kimmerer) who is a scientist and talks all about our connection to nature. I think you'd love it Jade! ✨
I know I've reccommended it before, but I'm currently re-reading the Art of Happiness- a book in conversation with the Dalai Lama written from the perspective of an American psychologist. The original premise of the book was to create a self help book with easy steps based on the Dalai Lama's wisdom, but as the interviews go on, the author realises there's so much more to the wisdom of Buddhism than just how to not be unhappy, and it takes you through the 4 main 'steps' of Buddhism, but in a context in which you don't have to be religious or spiritual to follow. I could go on and on about this book that radically transformed my perspective on the world, but please just read it for yourself, I think you will love it.
When it's out, I would love to recommend you my own book! It's about a girl named Jody, who's going to study abroad in Edinburgh. The book has multiple time-lines so you slowly get to know what happened before, and why she is acting the way she is now. It it based on some experiences of mine, and writing this book was a healing journey for me. I studied psychology and this book is a way for me to spread awareness about things like mental health, (religious) trauma, anxiety, dissociation and neurodivergence. I'm so passionate about it, it's almost done and I'm already dreaming about getting it in bookstores
The tales of Earthsea is amazing. It’s by Ursula someone-aghhh names😂 There are lots of her books set in the same world and the first is a wizard of Earthsea and I think it’s a wonderful book!!
@UnjadedJade reading a lot of books in german, even if at first I didn't understand most of it, is what helped me A LOT. It made the most difference later on in my understanding and Satzbau etc. I used to do it chaotically tho - not pausing for using a dictionary etc, so I often understood words from context. So few years down the road I need to consult a dictionary more often to make sure the word I have the feeling to know really means what I think it means
Hi!! Oh please more videos like this!!!! I feel so comfortable watching it and you are such a beautiful soul . I feel like I’m watching it and resting at the same time 😍😍😍
An overall great selection of books and it’s the perfect time of year for a bath and a read. Lush reminds me of when my office used to be by the store and you could smell it several blocks away. I had to pinch my nose nearby because it reeked so much. Also, the Alchemist is rubbish. Jade’s so well read that it’s surprising it made the list.
Doing your class on skill share . Thanks a lot dear. I am an indian and for most of us studying was the only way out of poverty and making it to big cities where its safer . Being a woman education is your support system. But i was never taught HOW . I just had the pressure to study. One can study but to achieve and compete you need that edge. Finally after doing your course i felt bad for myself that i didn't know these back then.
I‘ve started reading a few books this year but I haven‘t finished one in a while… which is also fine. I recently read a bit in „Das Ende der Ehe“ (a german book about patriarchy in marriage) and I‘m currently reading „Where the crawdads sing“
hi jade! another amazing book about period health and syncing with the seasons of your cycle is “In the Flow” by Alisa Vitti. it was my first introduction to hormonal health and it is so amazing!!
9:26 omg yes, nosebreathing is VERY important. I study speechlanguage pathology now (it's so cool omg) but every day of my studies I feel smarter but also more stupid. Because I'm a mouth breather, I used to thumbsuck, causing me to have a gothic palatum, causing me to have a low tongue placement, causing my mouth to be open, causing me to be sick more often, causing me to have low lippressure and general strength of my facial muscles. And you're face gets a natural facelift and you're instantly more handsome if you just suck your tongue against your palatum. But if you're used to mouth breathing it's very difficult to also unconsciously breathe through your nose. Sometimes I think about it, but I think I don't think about it for 70% of the day which is bad. OMG I could rant about this particular thing and my studies for ages, but you've read the book I'm gonna stop here. Also Jade you slay
It can be really empowering to get your hormones tested, and hertility health is a great company to do it with. It gives you an awareness of your fertility, and any potential conditions you might have, such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome. Getting it done at a young age is great because it gives you an awareness of your baseline hormones. I was always told my symptoms were really common, and probably didn't mean anything, but it's thanks to the hormone test that doctors are listening to me and giving me the treatment I need.
My recent favorite is a fantasy series called “The Kingkiller Chronicles”. It is high fantasy, but easy to understand and the author writes with so much wit and imagination I simply can’t get enough! The premise is very interesting, and several side characters are attention grabbing (one has her own novel that I haven’t read yet). To me it is very reminiscent of older fantasy books, compared to the current trends in more recent fantasy. I also just finished a new short novel (a little over 200 pages) called “Berries and Bones”. Also fantasy, it reminds me of the chronicles of Narnia, except it is clearly meant to have a sequel. If you want something that will give you a good cry, I have ti recommend the novella “Orbiting Jupiter”. Has all the feels, one of the few books that has brought me to tears, but also made me consider topics I’d never thought of before. As for non-fiction, I HIGHLY recommend Entangled Life. It is a book all about fungi, and is extremely well written and interesting. I also enjoyed the Humane Gardener, which talks about fostering a garden and lawn space to nurture and protect wildlife, rather than pushing it away. It discusses companion planting to fight invasive species and direct animals to one plant over another. And it provides examples from people who have transformed their land under these ideals.
jade i really recommend the book The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon by tom spanbauer, its actually so beautiful i had to re read it straight away and i know its a book ill be re reading forever
Me watching this while taking a bath with a mask on haha love it! a book next to me but at this moment I prefer watching this video about books rather than reading that book 😂
“Empuzjon” by a Nobel prize winner Olga Tokarczuk, I’m pretty sure it’s been translated into English and it’s just such an unexpected story. I honesty hated it in the beginning, not knowing what it’s about, and then I fell in love by the end.
Noooo that bubble bar can get 7 uses out of it!! You’re supposed to break a little off and hold it under running water, and then agitate the water. Its makes the most incredibly fluffy bubbles that stay for the entire bath!
Jade! ✨ Since you loved Ministry for the Future, I HIGHLY recommend The Great Transition by Nick Fuller Googins 👏❤️ Climate fiction that makes you wanna break down all the oppressive systems so we can all have a better future 🥺
A very interesting and intense non-fiction I love is ‘All the Young Men’ by Ruth Coker Burks. It’s about the AIDS epidemic, but in this case it focusses more on the mid-west of the US instead of NYC or San Francisco. It’s her story of helping so many sick people and raising awareness. 5⭐️😊
If you havt already read it I think you should try Ernest Callenbach „Ecotopia“, its an absolute classic, maybe a bit strange for sustainability/ ecological Solarpunk fiction, bit one of the first of its genre. And Jade, if you still want to try reading in German I can recommend Maja Göpel „Wir können auch anders“. I have found it to be quite a nice read, although as a native speaker I am probably biased. But check out her work if you can, she also has her work published in English as her Dissertation work
Lovely video, can't wait to read some of these books. My recommendation is this fiction book called: the invisible life of addie le rue. It's my favorite book ever and I'm currently reading it for the second time. There is this sense of wonder about the world in this book that I think you'll really enjoy aswell
Truly think you'd love "A Brief History of Everything" by Ken Wilbur, which is all about an integrative system of philosophy we could use to cultivate an evolved society, as well as "Platonic" by Marisa G. Franco, PhD, in which the importance and power of friendship is discussed in the most relatable way! xxx
i can recommend basically anything by Haruki Murakami. He had me discover such a different style of writing. It's less about the story and more about the vibe when reading his books
aaaah I’ve read 1Q84 and I need to read more of his work!! his writing is SO UNIQUE and gorgeous, although sometimes I found the portrayal of women misogynistic? but yes yes keen to read more
i feel so seen by hearing someone else doesn't like autumn/winter... like im so sorry but the leaves and cold weather and ETERNAL DARKNESS are not quite my friends 😭😭😭
Loved this video Jade! Lessons in Chemistry was amazing, definitately made me want to cry at parts! I have just finished the ocean at the end of the lane and omg it was brilliant, the writing was immaculate and the edition i have is illustrated and they were just exquisite! Highly recommend checking it out ❤
Just Kids is THE book that made me quit uni to start music. It was a life-changing take on what it means to live a meaningful life. Really hope you like it :)
What books have you been reading recently? 💌 give me your cosy recs!!
The buried giant - Kazuo Shiguro
It’s like a children’s book for adults, cozy but with twists and the writing is just so sweet
just read you made a fool of death with your beauty by akwaeke emezie and loved it💕
@@emeroconnor333I saw this in my local bookshop and was so intrigued!! would you recommend?

STARTING OFF IN THE BATH is a big slay
ugh THANK U GAL
This was the coziest. Your energy is so calming that I feel like I have just taken a bath
I haven't even started watching it, but I'm sure I'll love it! Books + bath + tea? + rambling? = nice :)
hi, Jade. this is really off topic but i just want to thank you. you have no idea how much you’ve helped me with my body image. all this pressure, all those unrealistic standards… i’ve spent the last 1,5 years (i only will turn 14 next month) of my life basically trying to lose weight and worrying about my body and what i eat. it’s crazy to believe how it’s taken away all my passions, goals and even some relationships away. let alone enjoying the simple moments in life. but you? you’ve literally saved me. i’m currently trying to recover -i’ve tried many times but relapsed every single one of them- from this terrible cycle but when i saw that I’ve gained 4 kg, i’m really fighting the urge to restrict again. and these few days i’ve been having panic attacks and terrible anxiety for hours… because i’m caught up between this desire to go back to losing weight as i’m not feeling confident or happy, but at the same time i know that things will only get worse and my life’s purpose will probably be fully gone if i do.. i really hope this doesn’t come across triggering or somewhat arrogant, i really didn’t mean it to be this way. but basically when i found your channel and watched several videos of yours.. you’ve inspired me so much! i feel so much more safe now. i love your authenticity and kindness so much. you truly seem like such a genuine and incredible person. i really love you and your channel. i’m sure i’m not the only one to whom you have helped drastically. thank you❤❤❤ i really hope you can see this🥹

same!! it's so sad, becouse i just want to lay in bed and read all day, but i have to study like bro be for real ..
You inspire me to study and because of you I got the best points in my assignments because of your wonderful notes
Aaaah you are INCREDIBLE, huge congrats on such incredible results!! 🤍 I’m so glad I could inspire you - but you’re the one who put the work in 😌✨
Jade this is video is like a big soft hug from Autumn, thank you for the beautiful aesthetics and for the loveliest comments and book notes ❤

Hi!! Oh please more videos like this!!!! I feel so comfortable watching it and you are such a beautiful soul . I feel like I’m watching it and resting at the same time 😍😍😍

Finally after doing your course i felt bad for myself that i didn't know these back then.
i love this type of video's!! it's so comforting and warm
The alchemist is one of my favourite books ever, so glad you mentioned it 😭❤✨
I‘ve started reading a few books this year but I haven‘t finished one in a while… which is also fine.
Thanks Jade ! I love bookish videos soooo much, and coming from you is even better.
SO FASCINATING omg!!!
Wow this vibe is great on you - so aesthetic and cosy! I can see how much care must have gone into the setup, cinematography, editing etc.
I live in cascais, I couldn't imagine seeing you, you're like- my favourite person 😭
aaaaah I’ll be stopping by Cascais today actually 🙊 maybe our paths will cross?
Hii Jade, sending you so much love ❤
Book recommendations :
1. A radical awakening
2. The power of the subconscious mind
woowo I rly like this video~ so comforting and chill love it so much ❤
It can be really empowering to get your hormones tested, and hertility health is a great company to do it with. It gives you an awareness of your fertility, and any potential conditions you might have, such as endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome. Getting it done at a young age is great because it gives you an awareness of your baseline hormones. I was always told my symptoms were really common, and probably didn't mean anything, but it's thanks to the hormone test that doctors are listening to me and giving me the treatment I need.
the editing, the vibes, major slay jade 🤌
as for book recs, def check out a thousand splendid suns if you haven't read it, it's such a good book
Damn i love the vibe of this video! As a person who loves winter and books, this video is just amazing
Love chill videos like this! Hope you’re doing well 😊
Yayyyy. I opened RUclips hoping to see you posting a new video Jade🥹😍
eeeep so glad you’re here!! 💌
Great editing on the video! It was a perfect cozy and comfortable video. You're looking gorgeous by the way.
jade i really recommend the book The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon by tom spanbauer, its actually so beautiful i had to re read it straight away and i know its a book ill be re reading forever
Jade! ✨ Since you loved Ministry for the Future, I HIGHLY recommend The Great Transition by Nick Fuller Googins 👏❤️ Climate fiction that makes you wanna break down all the oppressive systems so we can all have a better future 🥺
oh. my. god. THANK YOU i will def check this out!!!
Oh wow this sounds so interesting thank you for the rec!! I’d love to learn more about the AIDS crisis from different perspectives ❤️🩹
Ok but that thumbnail is a photographic masterpiece 😍
omg u flatter me!!! 😌
Im loving the Ethical Slut, teaches me sooo much! Highly reccommend.
Yesss I love book recommendations, there is so much to learn and explore!
kilometer zero : a road into happiness ? by maud ankaoua such a lifechanging story
There is this sense of wonder about the world in this book that I think you'll really enjoy aswell
jade's backkkkkk

Truly think you'd love "A Brief History of Everything" by Ken Wilbur, which is all about an integrative system of philosophy we could use to cultivate an evolved society, as well as "Platonic" by Marisa G. Franco, PhD, in which the importance and power of friendship is discussed in the most relatable way! xxx
wait these both sound WONDERFUL, big thank you!! adding to my list 💌
Yay! Would love to hear your thoughts on them once you've read them!!!@@UnJadedJade
OMG YOURE IN PORTUGALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! WELCOMEEE
i can recommend basically anything by Haruki Murakami. He had me discover such a different style of writing. It's less about the story and more about the vibe when reading his books
aaaah I’ve read 1Q84 and I need to read more of his work!! his writing is SO UNIQUE and gorgeous, although sometimes I found the portrayal of women misogynistic? but yes yes keen to read more
he deffo writes HEAVILY from the male gaze which I'm not keen on but I've kind of learned to enjoy being about to read a book with a critical eye?
A book that I am so into right now is The Secret Life Of Addie LaRue. Another I highly highly recommend is Come As You Are.
i feel so seen by hearing someone else doesn't like autumn/winter... like im so sorry but the leaves and cold weather and ETERNAL DARKNESS are not quite my friends 😭😭😭
I looooooove winter
