    About Etta May:
Etta May has performed her brand of clean-comedy on Oprah, Showtime, Comic Strip Live, MTV, and as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning,” Winner of the prestigious American Comedy Awards “Comic Of The Year,” and so much more. In addition, she headlines the successful all-female comedy tour, “Etta May and the Southern Fried Chicks,” selling out theatres all over the country. Think Blue Collar Comedy Tour with better hair and a bigger attitude! In addition to television, Etta May is a regular on Sirius-XM Comedy Channels and the syndicated Bob & Tom radio show.
Born and in Bald Knob, Arkansas, Etta May grew up alongside nine older brothers, who referred to their baby sister as “the human sacrifice.” Etta May’s parents - her father, a potpourri farmer, and her mother, bedridden by constant childbearing - didn’t realize she was a girl until she needed a training bra.
She met her husband, Delbert, an aspiring truck driver, at a friend’s kegger. From across the yard, their eyes locked in a loving look, you know that stare that lasts a moment too long. Nine months later, she was blessed with a boy, and three more kids followed. “That’s where my comedy comes from. I just wait for my husband or kids to do something stupid, and then I write it down.”
Before finding success as a stand-up comic, Etta wandered from dead-end job to dead-end job, including a 10-year stint as a school bus driver. She says she learned how to handle unruly kids by Armor-Alling the seats and slamming on the brakes all the way to school. Her theory: “Kind of hard to pick a fight with the kid in front of you when you’re just holding on for dear life.”
Then she decided to take a chance on herself and follow her dream. Lots of hard work and drive, and a few years later, she wins “Female Comic Of The Year” at the American Comedy Awards. It’s the American Story we are all told that you can become anything you set your mind to in this great country, and for Etta May, it worked!

I am 60 years old, drove since I was 14 and Never stayed out of work for weather. I come in when the 20/30 somethings call in due to weather, and have been left to work over in their shift more than I can count. It's about learning how to drive in All weather and preparing , both yourself and your vehicle for it.

I was absolutely shocked at how the south acts when it even remotely accumulates less than an inch of snow on the roads! I primarily grew up in New England. We know how to drive in all kinds of weather!

Off not out! Left to work for their shift! No,you can never be prepared for any weather element because, you never know! And, no not everyone drives!

@@sickandtiredofbeingsickandIt’s not just people who live in the South,it’s the whole U.S.! When, the weather gets bad the roads can get worse and, when, people think they can drive in it and, be okay, it can cause, a major accident! My dad worked at gravel pit and, he told people we knew if they didn’t have a 4-wheel drive back in the 70s, if they can bring him some burlap sacks, he could fill them up with sand ( 2) and, they could put in their trunk and, the weight of them would help with traction! It isn’t just driving, we even in the 70s as a kid had to walk from the end of the block to the end of the corner of our street, and, we’re talking all this snow and ice and school wasn’t called off immediately back in those days. Well, dad was home from a heart attack and, this was around the time of the bad snow storm in 78, my brother was managing, but, I kept hitting a place on the street that was full of ice and, I would get up and keep tempting and, I would make it a little farther and, boom down again, I’d go! Three different mornings were like that, my dad would call and, explain because, he was not allowed to drive yet and, nor allowed to be out in the cold! He’d make the call instantly and, quickly get off the phone and, would make me up a cup of hot chocolate right away, yes, marshmallows!

Oh I beg to disagree!! I live SOUTH south where we don't have shovels, plows or chains. I will drive at 5 mph but my street is UPHILL. I tried to drive but fell immediately when I got out breaking my arm. I'm old enough to retire but can't afford to. I call out now.

I have lived in the south all my life I love winter and really dislike the summer months the heat, humidity and insects make me so miserable. If an insect can bite or pinch I have been bitten or pinched by it. Oh my goodness in the summer months I get a pinch from an ant at least once a day, it's a sting and itch that last for days. I've actually stripped off my clothes in the duck yard while cleaning their house after an ant got down my pants and started pinching my back side. I've been pinched by a Centipede also. Winter doesn't last long enough where I live.

"My nipple fell off" - well there's no point in bending down to go looking for it now. It's not like you can put that sucker back on.
17 degrees is cold to southerners. New Englanders laugh at that. You can complain to us about the cold when your part of the country is officially colder than the parts of Alaska where the Iditarod takes place. (That happened)

It not just Southerners, nit’s everyone in the US and, it’s actually been colder in Kentucky than 17 degrees! Those in South East, Ohio it’s like 5 degrees above being originally from Cincinnati, OH and living in Harrison, OH the first part of my childhood, then, living in Greendale/ Lawrenceburg , IN Down below Cincinnati in the tri-state area it’s about on average minus or add a few degrees but, it’s still pretty much we get the same weather conditions! And, yeah, been to Kentucky many times and with having some family living there! The one thing, I can say though, when, it snows in a Kentucky just be ready for the unexpected cause, if the weatherman says, we got snow coming well, they can end up with the worst end of it and, that includes a rain storm, and, then, sometimes not much of nothing but, more often than, not more of it and, usually it’s mostly more out towards Louisville!
