Where I live it's mostly tornados. But we still get hit with the edge of hurricanes, the occasional earthquake (small ones) and once every handful of years a good sized blizzard that kills power for weeks. Why pick when you can have them all? ^_^ lol

I was born in Montana (snow so high), spent 13 yrs in Miami (small tornadoes on the edges of hurricanes) and now live in earthquake country. In all of them preparation is important. And then you hunker down. Even with deep snow eventually someone is gonna come dig you out. Think I'd rather have 8 ft of snow than 8 ft of water.

Had a coworker that transferred from LA to Dallas for a career move. They lasted two summers and his wife made him move back to SoCal. She said all the weather warnings gave her too much stress, at least with an earthquake you get no warning. No kidding, she really said that.

Last bad one we had they just kept on and on for like 45mins:: I was like "damn I get it, I might die soon, enough already you are stressing me the he'll out".. They do some jacked up damage too" A couple yrs ago one took out a entire county here in KY a couple weeks before christmas.. It was a few hrs away from my county; but my brother ran a mission crew to help them for a few months..

His response, "Man I've been to Iraq 3 times, and I'm from Virgina, I ain't worried about a little heat."

I lived in several places with my husband and daughter while in the military. California, first earthquake... not too bad. Illinois, first white out snow storm... kinda scary as I was driving. Florida, first hurricane (thankfully only got the edge of it) still pretty scary. Then we move back home to Georgia, we get in the first 10 years.... an earthquake, 2 floods and 3 tornadoes!! I'm like what the F is happening here. I remember only a few snow days when school was canceled and an ice storm growing up!! Lol

I am an Army Brat too. When I was ten years old, we lived in Lawton (outside of Fort Sill), Oklahoma and experienced all the tornado sirens warnings. We had no basement so my mom sat in the tub with my baby sister. My brother and I sat in the bathroom doorway frame facing each other. It was horrible. Decades later I am living in New York City (Queens) and a tornado comes through the twin 24 story buildings. My husband and I lived on the 18th floor. My husband was out on the balcony and asked me, "Why is the sky green?" I started screaming at him to get inside and go to the bathroom. Of course, he doesn't come in. I yell at him, "It's a tornado!" I also experienced an earthquake in the same apartment. It felt like I was in a roller coaster. I have never been more scared. As soon as it was over, I took the elevator down and sat in my car. I called my mom and started crying. I will take a tornado over the earthquake.

Facial expressions can be a key factor in standup comedy - Jackie Gleason was a master at that art. Remember his routine about the “take” and the “double take” and the “double double take.” Each of which was illustrated by a different face! Hilarious! This gal is super good with her facial expressions! Pay attention to her face when she talks about the spiders in their outdoor basement. I’ll not live long enough to see her in person, but YOU should try!

Went through a couple 5s in San Francisco back in the day. Nothing broke but the jitters lasted a while.
Few years before the big '89 quake, moved East so we missed that one. Drove across country, staying in motels. When we got to Kansas, I insisted on finding a motel made out of brick. Turned the TV to the radar channel. Trouble sleeping that night.
I'm with Angela, will take an earthquake over a tornado any day!

I’m from North Carolina and now live in Ohio. As a kid, I used to love spring because it meant summer was coming. As an adult, I hate it because it means allergies and MANY tornados. Been here five years, and every time the sirens go off (my apartment complex is right next to one), I do the same thing as Angelah. I ran downstairs one time and beat on my neighbor’s door wearing a comforter and carrying my cellphone and Keurig machine. No ID. No shoes. No charger. No keys. Left my apartment completely unlocked. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking!

In the 1990s I went to school in Ohio. I'm from California, so earthquakes earthquakes earthquakes, but in Ohio, those tornadoes and thunderstorms were so exciting especially at night when we we go on the roof and see the beauty of the stormy skies every time lightening would light it up .... the colors, wow, gorgeous. Eventually though we'd end up in some tornado basement in the building. Those storms were amazing.

  • @anthonydavid5121

Hello from California where we have felt 3 earthquakes over the last 3 months around magnitude 4, but now with shake alert, our phones alarm, giving us ten seconds to brace ourselves. There is always that instant rush of adrenaline every time you hear the alarm or that first "OMG it's an earthquake", but then in the next second ya just roll back over and go back to sleep usually! But yes, those tornadoes. I went to school in Ohio and wow, they had gorgeous thunderstorms and amazing skies, then then sirens go off and it's time to get into he basement. A few years ago I was in Massachusetts driving when suddenly the radio had an emergency alarm and I had to pull inot the Walmart parking lot and with a 100 people, we ran in to the store where the manager took all of quikcly to the back and of the store inside some storage area. So fun!!!!

I've lived my whole life in and around OKC. Every spring is tornado season. You just get used to it. The WEIRD thing is how fracking has now brought earthquakes here, starting about ten years ago. Recent restrictions on fracking have greatly reduced the frequency of earthquakes, but we just had some a few days ago. 4.4 here. We had a 5.something maybe eight years ago that put a huge crack in the wall of our house. Crazy.

But, storm surge has to be the worst for me. Waves as high as 8 to 10 feet tall and I was in a mid size boat close to the shore. That right there I thought this was it, no way we can survive this and reach the shore line in one piece. Everyone on the small boat panicked except for me.
I waited patiently for what I thought would be the end, but it never came.

My grandparents lived in Oroville CA and during the earthquakes of the 70s, he laughed as mechanics would flee the garage, while the cars jumped around. He just stood watching the show as plate glass exploded in the showroom flloor. Said the ground rocked like an ocean. The house he built though, the chimney was so solid, it never even cracked. Sadly, I've slept through the only earthquake I've been in, and have yet to see a tornado (on my bucket list).

I’m from Texas 956 area/H-town. We never had a basement. I have only seen a few tornados. Hurricanes are not scary for me. A 3.5 or 4 earthquake is nothing for me. However, I was transferred to Guam a couple of months ago and this fucking earthquakes are not joke. The highest that I have felt is a 5.7 usually they average about 5-5.4. The first time I felt an earthquake I almost crapped my pants and I was scared. Now I’m used to this types of earthquakes but I just hope that I don’t get to experience an earthquake higher than a 5.7.
