Really enjoying your channel! A quick correction regarding your comparison: I think you may be confusing "longer reach" with higher resolution. When comparing the images at 100%, it will look like the 61MP image reaches further, but all you are doing is cropping in more because of the higher resolution. The more accurate test is to unlock the Zoom when comparing images and set one at 100% and the other at whatever is necessary to get the same framing. That way, you can see how much more detail there is in the Leica image AND/OR how similar they are when looking at Nikon image at 100% and Leica zoomed at ~40%. On the Q2/Q3, if you shoot in RAW, you can enable the crop framing so that when you import your images, they will automatically be cropped at 35/50/etc. You can then crop out or move the composition around as you wish. I have found that workflow to be super easy and gets me to the results I am looking for much quicker. I see the world at 35, but there are a number of occasions where the 28 comes in super handy.
Thank you very much for your feedback and explanation! A lot of people mentioned this in the comments and I'm glad for people like you correcting and educating me on the subject. After reading all these comments it total makes sense because of the 60MP, but while creating this video I didn't think about it. Lesson learned! Also I just want to add, that I didn't want to diminish the quality of the Leica APO lens in any regard. It is one of the best lenses in this world, specially in this package. But still just wanted to illustrate the way I take pictures in daily use, sometime the ultimate quality doesn't matter as much and other cheaper offers are good enough. Always depends how someone is shooting. At least that's my opinion :) A mill thanks again for your detailed and respectful feedback + your time watching and commenting! Highly appreciated!
When you zoom to 100% in Lightroom, the magnification level is influenced by the camera's megapixel count. This means that higher resolution sensors will display more detail at the same magnification level compared to lower resolution sensors. For instance, a 60-megapixel Leica camera will show a smaller area of the image at 100% zoom than a 24-megapixel Nikon camera, giving the impression of greater reach or magnification. The difference in how the images appear at this zoom level is primarily due to the higher megapixel count of the Leica, rather than the slight difference in focal length, which is only about 3mm. This explains why the Leica image might look more "zoomed in" or detailed; it's capturing more information per unit area due to its higher resolution sensor.
Thank you for pointing that out, I have learned through comments like yours :) And will keep this in mind for the next time. Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting! Really appreciate it!
Thank you for the comparison. In my opinion, the Nikon Zf with the 40mm F2 lens is the clear winner, mainly because of its aesthetics, price, and image quality. It's an easy choice. The money saved by not opting for the Q3 43 could go towards a nice vacation or even cover coffee for the next 15+ years.
@@janwedek I'd prefer the Nikon Zf. It has better video specs, image stabilization autofocus and you can change lenses. It has lower resolution, is less compact, has a worse build (its still good though) and lower resolution.
The Z40/2 is great for the money. And fits the Zf, which I own, perfectly. But if you really want to compare a lens that would have a chance against the Leica, I would have selected the Z50/1.8S. Insanely good lens for the money and close enough for a fair comparison. I have the Q3 with the 28/1.7 lens and it is great at what it is supposed to do. For most people I would not recommend it given what you can buy in stead. But I love it!
The 1.8 is magical. I’ve only owned the zf and 50 1.8 for a few weeks. I took some portraits while traveling and just in this short time I’ve taken some of my all time favorite portraits from this pairing than with my Fuji and 56 1.2 over the last 12 years. While the Fuji did take beautiful images, I almost always never got the focus right. The zf and 1.8 has nailed it every time except for 2 side profile images where the eye was hidden by the frame of the glasses being worn.
Thx, the 40mm is great i have it too with the Zf. I also have the Q3 43. The Nikon 40mm 2.0 falls apart when fully open up close with the Minimum focus distance. The Q is always sharp wide open 👍
That's the price we pay for the extra few % of image quality like corner to corner sharpness. But my wife and family wouldn't notice something like that :D Thanks for your time watching and commenting!
I also have both cameras with the same 40mm lens for Nikon. If you compare more detailed shots especially with lower ISO I clearly see the difference. The Q3 43 images do have definitely much more detail and micro contrast. The Q lens is sharp up to the corners, where the 40mm Nikon is visibly softer. And the APO lens also has a quicker sharpness falloff which is quite pleasing on real people portrait shots. In general the Leica shots has more punch right out of RAW files, not so much in low light high ISO situations, but on outdoor scenes. With lenses it is always the same. The first 90% of quality is easy to obtain, but if you want to get the last 10% you have to pay!
Totally agree with you and for most people the 80-90% image quality is more then enough, specially the way most people consume images nowadays (under 5 seconds). And that APO lens sure delivers these last 10% since we paid that price :D Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting!
I'd recommend trying out Voigtländer's APO-Lanthars for the Z mount, or even their Nokton 50mm f/1.0 for Z mount. They're all manual focus, of course, but those lenses are magic with the Zf and the APO-Lanthars are spectacular wide open.
In the pinguin shot, I actually see a big difference. The Q image is much more 3D looking than the Nikon, which appears much flatter in comparison. Otherwise this Nikon 40 is incredibly good for its price. Thanks for your video!
There is no way to fail by choosing Leica. Especially if the camera feels more integrated with your own personal likes and vision. I've never used a fixed lens camera--I'm a full-time commercial photographer and just this past year went from my Canon R5 system to Fujifilm GFX 100 II. Not the lightest of systems but I began on Mamiya RZ and Sinar 4X5 so anything after that feels lightweight!
I would like to try out Fujifilm medium format system one day :) The images out of these cameras do feel different to me. Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting!
Exactly, I have A7CII which is an amazing camera paired with 40mm G lens but it doesn't inspire me to go out and shoot for my personal needs since I get the very same resultat with my pair of A7iv and those I consider as working tools for my profesional work. These don't inspire me to go out and document everyday life at all. People need to stop saying yeah but I can get "better" camera for much cheaper price. The definition of "better" is not same for everyone, "better" for my personal work is "design, feel & form factor" where "better" for my professional work is"perfomance, image quality & lens choices". That's why I am looking at Leica q3 43 even though I can by almost three A7IV's. It's not always about performance and price for everyone. Cheers!
How abaout the color difference of the penguin & piano Pictures? Leica seems to lean to a magenta tint while Nikon seems to lean on the greenish side. Which - in your opinion - gets nearer to the real color?
I saw a similar issue in a comparison between Zf and GFX 50R. The GFX was rendering on the side of magenta and the Zf yellow/green. I subjectively like the magenta. Planning to switch from apsc Fujis to the Zf.
Technically all Leica cameras are beneath the competition regarding specs etc. That's why most people should avoid Leica, because you are buying Leica only based on emotion, which doesn't make sense and is expensive. I'm stupid enough to fall for that emotion :D Thank you for watching!
Love this comparison. If you still have Leica Q3 28mm, Can you please do a Raw comparison video skin tone check for 43mm and 28mm? I have 28mm Q3 but what I noticed is when I shoot Raw it has a yellow skin tone cast vs Q3 43mm is closer to the Nikon Fuji RAW image color. Can you do Raw comparison video skin tone check for 43mm and 28mm? I know post-processing can fix this color tone issue but I am looking for direct Raw comparison. Hope you make comparison video for this. Looking forward to see it!
Thank you for the comparison! Do you have the opportunity to ompare Leica Q3 43 with Sony A7CII 40mm 2.5G? That would be really interesting for me, thank you!
Thank you for testing these cameras and lenses. I have a Z6iii and that Z 40mm f2 lens because 40mm is my favorite focal length for street shooting (also love the weight and compact size of that lens). The Q3 43 is an awesome camera especially with that new focal length if you have the budget and don’t require the versatility of interchangeable lenses.
It's definitely the ultimate luxury camera, which performs better then no other, if you are looking for corner to corner sharpness etc. I really love shooting with it, but the people I share my images with, wouldn't see the difference similiar to my test here :D Thank you for your time watching!
I am really intrigued once I saw the announcement from Leica. 40mm-ish Lenses were always my go-to and know we got in in the Leica Q3. I hope I can get one next year. Do you stick to the Leica Q3 43? Grüße! ;)
Thanks for this great comparison video. I’d be interested to see how Nikon’s 40mm holds up on one of their higher megapixel bodies. As it stands, there’s so little between them it’s hard to argue against buying the Nikon!
Yes, the Z8 would be a more suitable body for this comparison, but at this time I only own the Zf and no Z8 I could borrow. But thinking about it, Z8 + Voigländer 40mm 1.2 would be a real interesting next comparison :) Thank you very much for your time watching!
Kudos to you for creating meaningful content regarding this camera and lens. It seems that 99% of the major RUclips photography channels, all of whom had this camera many weeks ago for review purposes, are simply rehashing reviews of the Q3. As we all know that has been out for 18 months and we are all familiar with the specs by now.
I try my best to make content about cameras I buy / own and share my opinion about it. Some people don't agree with that and that's fine, since I'm an amateur enjoying my hobby but also do mistakes (no pro reviewer). But I really appreciate people like you who enjoy my simple videos and I'm grateful the majority is positive about the stuff I put out. I really appreciate your kind words!
Thanks for this chat (and the corrections). I realise the Q3 43 will be a success and that loads of people express a desire for that camera with that focal length, but for me it feels completely counterintuitive to settle for a 60MP super expensive fixed lens system that does not allow wide angle work. Those 60Mp are welcome with the 28mm lens because it allows both wide angle work and sufficient high resolution cropping for close quarter portrait work. That is infinitely more flexible and makes that 28mm version of the Q3 a credible street/travel/events/indoors/walkaround body. This 43mm model is much more limited in terms of real world applications. Most users will end up carrying a second body/lens combo to allow for wider shots. Remember, you can always crop in post but you cannot increase your field of view. On the other hand, the 24MP Zf with a 26 and 40 will be much more useful. Or even get a 45MP Z7 for added cropability (marginally lighter and smaller than Zf).
Hi sir, I can understand your thoughts for the wider field of view. But let´s be honest. We all carry our phones in our pockets, with a wide lens which is good enough for my wide angle shots. So at the end, it`s about personal preferences. I like shooting street and portraits. The 43mm looks like a very very good choice for that. For my wide angle shots, I personally take out my iPhone and am happy.
@@sincosy to each their own, and I wish you the best, but with that logic, if one is satisfied with phone quality wide angle pictures, it would make very little sense to invest in a 7,000 USD camera for "standard focal length" images. Even more so as top of the line phones now provide a choice of on board high res cameras, including short tele lens capability. Add to this the constantly improving real time distance and subject analysis that allows increasingly credible fake background blur in "portrait" mode, and you also have "good enough" standard and short tele shots. Going back to the Q3: 43mm is way too limiting for most "street" action: you can crop a 28mm shot to magnify your main subject, you cannot "decrop" a 43mm to include enough of the scene.
I’ve use a 50mm equivalent lens on my Fuji X-pro2 for street, portraits and every day carry. Hardly ever needed a wide angle. Although I can always take a few shots and stick them together if I really need to.
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I have learned through comments like yours! And yeah that "cheap" lens is doing quite well on it's own :) Thank you for watching!
I would love to, but for now it's not available for me. But my guess is, that the bokeh would be much amazing with no comparison at 1.2. At f2 it really would be interesting.
Thanks, I like your approach towards comparing the lenses. It’s practical and informative. Keep going ! I agree that the 40mm is a real sleeper - especially giving the small size. It’s great on the Zf for street work.
I like Leica, I have some rangefinders, but also various compacts and film rangefinders.. But the Q3 43 against the ZF with the cheapest Nikon Z lens is a tough fight for Nikon. even so, I think it is very good and the price-performance ratio won. If I had enough money, I have both)) When I have to decide, the clear choice is the Zf, because I can take, for example, a macro or a 100mm portrait lens with it in my bag... But the Q3 43 is a beauty, no doubt about it!
They both serve total different use cases, but I had fun to do this weird comparsion :) Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting! Appreciate it!
Thank you very much for your video. It save me thousands of euros. I have the Leica Q3 and the Q3 43 came as a more adequate focal length for my photography. I thought of changing or keeping one and buying the other... I calm myself and try to rationalize what to do... Your video put a light in my decision... I keep the Q3 and crop a little if I need and since I have the Zf , it gives the 40mm and everything else that it can do and I want... Again... Thank you very much this was a saver! 🙂
Thank you for comparing these. Just a note that there is a slight mistake when you said the Q3 43 has more reach when you zoomed in to 100%. That is simply because the Q3 has 63mp while Zf has 24. Otherwise great video comparing 2 very popular systems. For most use cases the Nikon provides a great bang for buck indeed. I have both the Zf and an M system and enjoy both thoroughly for what they each provide, disregarding price.
Thank you for pointing that out, I have learned through comments like yours :) Totally agree with you, next to the Q3 43 and Zf I also have the M system and enjoy them all. Thank you very much for your time watching!
Honestly, in this particular head-to-head, in the real world the Q3 43 is gonna mop the floor with the Zf and the 40mm f/2. The Leica sensor has far more resolution and detail, and you're talking about an APO-Summicron here.
Yes it would, but the Zf combo is still amazing for it's price and at least my loved once unfortunately can't tell the difference when I share my images with them. But in some shots I took recently in family situation I think I can see the difference, that's at least how I justify my purchase :D Thanks for watching!
@@IntrovertAmateur The Zf is a fantastic camera. I certainly wasn't knocking it. But I have found the 40mm f/2 to be very inconsistent with image quality depending on the lighting conditions under which it's used. The Zf definitely deserves the best glass mounted to it, whether it's the 'S' series Nikkors, or those Voigtländers I mentioned in another comment.
To my eyes, the Leica looks to have a nicer rendering with more detail. But as you said it's difficult to make a call seeing it compressed by RUclips. Nice comparison though and cool penguin; my youngest daughter has a Guin Guin too 😅
The best camera is the one you have, when you need it. Or... the one you like, the way you like it. I think we can all appreciate that the Leica offers no real, tangible advantage when comparing images side by side. Make deep crops and print them "double truck", in a high quality magazine, or print them on A1 paper and you'll never see meaningful difference. That said... I will always WANT the Leica!!!
I have met some Leica owners and buyers now in real life and what you wrote is on point: all of them say, nobody needs a Leica, Leica is something you want and it is purely emotional. Thanks again for your comment!
I know the Nikon 40/2 lens on my Z6. The lens is not bad but quite average. In my experience it is not very sharp, it also depends on the range from the subject. When shooting to infinity the result is not optimal. I have no experience with the Leica, I ordered it and it should arrive, but if it is at the level of the Nikon 40/2 it will be a severe disappointment. From your comparison you can see that the sharpness of the Leica is better and the bokeh is smoother.
In some situations even my bad eyes now see some kind of difference for the Q3 43 or it is my mind trying to justify the purchase :D Have fun with the Q3. I think with your eyes you won't be disappointed with that APO. Thanks for watching!
Try the Voigtlander Apo Lanthar VM (M mount) 50mm f2. Just stunning, and I have Otus to compare to, although character is very different. You can mount this to any camera that can adapt well (MILC). Manual focus is a skill to learn and it's tiny and light and the images really stand out.£500 used. Bargain
@@IntrovertAmateurdid you find a way to reverse the ring in A mode in the Zf? I would like to be able to use the rear ring to increase or close the diaphragm. Do you know if it is possible? I did not find anything in the instructions to reverse the rings. Can you help me? Thanks
It's a very good comparison and I've said the modern cameras are now reaching a plateau where a $2000 camera can be as good as a $6000 camera in the right circumstances and we know with Lieca cameras you are paying for build quality and a whole bunch of other things besides the actual photo that it produces in fact many ways for many of those users. The final product is not probably the most important thing. It's the experience of taking a photo and enjoying being outside or with friend. The outcome of photos is often not the most important thing in Photography and that's something you discovered later on. That's not to say that it's not a valid video to test the two cameras. It's great and intriguing. I personally wouldn't spend that kind of money on a camera of that type. I do have a big GFX camera for my professional grade Work, but I wouldn't be spending the equivalent money for basically a 40 mm Street camera. I could get a Fuji XT3 for $1000 and put just as good quality images you could grab about five or six modern cameras right now and put them all side-by-side and it would be very difficult to tell the difference in image quality with the equivalent 40 mm lens.
The Sumicron doesn’t have more reach (40mm on a full frame sensor yields the same field of view on both cameras). What you’re witnessing is the difference in resolving power of the Leica’s 61 MP sensor versus the Nikon’s 24.5 MP sensor.
Four years from now you'll re-sell the Leica approximately for the money you pay today, at least close to it. How much you're expecting to get for a four years old Zf?
@RonK Beg to differ on the resale value. When looking at listings for Q2 or Q3 cameras they have gone down significantly from their retail price. And this is from professional retailers that offer warranty for used products. Expect to get less as a private seller. I would even claim that you could almost buy a new Zf from the value depreciation of a new Q3 over a few years but this might be pushing it. For me it’s fine that digital cameras lose value over time as I get use out of them (analog is a different story or untouched collector’s items). Leica is no different here than other brands.
All depends on the simple economic principle of demand and supply. Everyone would have said, that old digital Fuji cameras are worthless after being older then 2 years. And now look at these Fuji second hand prices. Currently Fuji prices are more stable compared to digital Leica cameras such as the Q and SL bodies. Even the M bodies are taking their hit. Who knows, if in the future again some kinda hype happens around e.g. Nikon the Zf might be worth the retail price or even higher. Thanks for watching!
Volker (?)/Phil, a thorough examination of the subtle differences. If I ever get my Q3 43 I can test with a CV 40, f/1.2 on an M9 and/or M240 to see how it compares using CCD and/or CMOS. The X2D + XCD 55V test would offer the same. But that is getting a little far into the woods. My biggest problem is always what I put in front of the camera and not the gritty details of the bokeh usw. I just try to get a good photo and am hoping that the Q3 43 will help me with that. Noch einmal wohlgemacht. Tschüß
This is also one of the reasons why I got the Q3 43. Just grab the camera and shoot :) The normal Qs unfortunately didn't work for me because of the 28mm (in real more 26mm), but always loved the idea of a fixed lens camera. Thank you for watching und herzlichen Dank fürs Einschalten :)
So you say this is not a technical video and you are not an expert. Therefore you mix up resolution and field of view, you are surprised that you don’t see a difference of both cameras by comparing images at a size much smaller than your monitor and are mentioning the absence of purple fringing at the focussed areas in the middle of the frame. The most characteristic scene is where you show the vintage lens as a comparison: „I might have missed the focus but you see that its significantly less sharp“. Yes, you won‘t see much of a difference if you are just posting to social media. The whole point of the Leica is a small, not too heavy camera with excellent low light capabilities and plenty of resolution to get more reach without the need to carry and change lenses. In this regard, the Nikon is a complete different concept.
I did some mistakes in this one and am grateful for commetns like your to learn from to improve in the future. I agree the Q line up aimed for a small compact power house, which this Zf is lacking. But I would say if you take something similar like the Sony A7Cr I think most people still wouldn't notice the difference immediately. And with people I mean persons we share our pictures with, not camera nerds :) Thank you for watching!
@@IntrovertAmateur Yes, I can fully agree that there is no „Leica Magic“ in the images. The only magic is the lovely package of simplicity, versatility small size and weight and value. I do like to get the Zf someday too and hope to move to Sweden too, hope there will be more opportunities for for me! Let me know if you interested! :-)
Any camera can take an image, and unless you pixel peep as these types of videos do everytime, you have to make your own minds up. Obviously Nikon and Leica fan boys will come down on one side or the other. I shoot with multiple brands and sensor sizes, and camera / lens combinations (including Leica M6, digital and analogue compacts) and I feel that most people fixate too much on equipment and not on the image taking experience. For a lot of people that shoot Leica, it is a combination of build quality, aesthetics, image quality, shooting experience ... As a side note, I own several several Canon bodies and shoot both a Canon and Voightlander 40mm lenses, and choose either based on the experience (Voightlander is fully manual with aperture feedback) and I would never sit and compare the image quality from both, as they both have their merits ... Just get out and shoot.
100% agree and I basically own different cameras (film and digital) just because of the experience. In general I would say that goes for everything in life. At least I have a lot of different favourite meals and can't eat just one favourite meal straight for one week :D Only for cars I don't have enough budget to afford different multiple cars just for the sake of different driving experience depending on my mood ... but I wish had luxury, but cameras are also fine :D Thank you for your time watching and commenting!
I wish I was :D Just a bit lucky at the stock market and now putting a bit of money (again) into cameras and my channel. Totally irrational I know :D Thanks my friend :)
$6900 vs $2200. You pay an extra $4700 for the “experience” of leica q3 😂😂😂. If you zoom in 500% and look at the pixel with a mangifying glass you will see a difference…well thats what Leica users try to say to convince themselves.
It’s more than a side by side, it’s what inspires you to take photos. The Q3 43 does just that, it feels like a jewel in hand…Nikon is just another boring plastic tool. Also outside studio side by side environment and in the real world, the Q3 images pop in an almost 3D way which the Nikon 40 cannot produce.
I hope I will get out soon to shoot some street to test it more out and gather more experience with this 43 in those kind of environment. For now I shot mostly family stuff. Thanks for watching!
Muahahahahaha ha! Not a question for my situation. I already have a Blue Nikon Zf, with 2 Carl Zeiss classic lenses (50mm Planar and 28mm Distagon), as well as those Voigtlander SLii-S Nikon F-mount lenses. These are enough for me. I can't afford Leica cameras, they are too much for my cheapskate blood.
Terrible comparison! That lens is horrible! I know some love it, but if you had the lens I’d love to see a comparison with the the voigtlander 40mm 1.2. One of my favorites with my ZF. Actually not one of my favorites, it is my favorite.
I saw a lot of videos about the Voigtländer and will consider it in the future, since I own several Voigtländer lenses for my M system and like their price/performance ratio. Thank you for your time watching.
Thank you for pointing that out, I have learned through comments like yours :)
And will keep this in mind for the next time.
Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting! Really appreciate it!
Leica can only dream of being a ZF… The autofocus / Response is next level on the ZF.
That is very true.

And that APO lens sure delivers these last 10% since we paid that price :D
Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting!
I'd recommend trying out Voigtländer's APO-Lanthars for the Z mount, or even their Nokton 50mm f/1.0 for Z mount. They're all manual focus, of course, but those lenses are magic with the Zf and the APO-Lanthars are spectacular wide open.
Heard and saw a lot of these lenses on YT and would love to try them out some day.
Thanks for watching!
In the pinguin shot, I actually see a big difference. The Q image is much more 3D looking than the Nikon, which appears much flatter in comparison. Otherwise this Nikon 40 is incredibly good for its price. Thanks for your video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for watching!
Agreed.
I would like to try out Fujifilm medium format system one day :)
The images out of these cameras do feel different to me.
Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting!
The winner is whichever inspires you to go out and shoot more. If it'll cost you 6k, so be it
Very true, thanks for watching!
Cheers!
If you can’t get motivated to shoot, I doubt $6,000 will solve it. Gear is unrelated to motivation if you actually love photography.
How abaout the color difference of the penguin & piano Pictures? Leica seems to lean to a magenta tint while Nikon seems to lean on the greenish side. Which - in your opinion - gets nearer to the real color?
To be honest I'm not able to tell, because I'm partly colour blind and hardly see the difference.
Thank you for watching!
I saw a similar issue in a comparison between Zf and GFX 50R. The GFX was rendering on the side of magenta and the Zf yellow/green. I subjectively like the magenta. Planning to switch from apsc Fujis to the Zf.
Nikon ZF clear winner imo. Also has MUCH better autofocus. The Q offcourse is smaller and looks a little cleaner but performance wise no brainer
Technically all Leica cameras are beneath the competition regarding specs etc. That's why most people should avoid Leica, because you are buying Leica only based on emotion, which doesn't make sense and is expensive. I'm stupid enough to fall for that emotion :D
Thank you for watching!
Unfortunately I sold my Q3 28mm months ago and don't have access to one right now.
But will keep that in mind.
Thank you for watching!
I have the Voigtlander 40 f1.2 manual focus on the Zf. It is a magical pairing.
Heard a lot of great things and saw several videos about it. Looks like an awesome lens indeed :)
Thanks for watching!
The Q 28mm was 28mm, yes, it's wider if you don't enable the corrections, but who uses the camera without corrections?
Thank you for the comparison! Do you have the opportunity to ompare Leica Q3 43 with Sony A7CII 40mm 2.5G? That would be really interesting for me, thank you!
Unfortunately not, I don't have access to any Sony camera right now. But if I have a chance, I might do a comparison.
Thanks for your time watching!
I really love shooting with it, but the people I share my images with, wouldn't see the difference similiar to my test here :D
Thank you for your time watching!
I am really intrigued once I saw the announcement from Leica. 40mm-ish Lenses were always my go-to and know we got in in the Leica Q3. I hope I can get one next year.
Do you stick to the Leica Q3 43?
Grüße! ;)
Right now the Q3 43 is my most used camera and it will stay for now :)
Thank you for your time watching und Grüße zurück :)
But thinking about it, Z8 + Voigländer 40mm 1.2 would be a real interesting next comparison :)
Thank you very much for your time watching!
To me, that extra resolution from zooming is because the 35mp on leica q3. And in overall , the $300 lens is clear winner here in term of p/p 😊
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I have learned through comments like yours!
And yeah that "cheap" lens is doing quite well on it's own :)
Thank you for watching!
Can YOU PLEASE compare with the Voigtländer 40 1.2 by 1.2 and f2 🙏
I would love to, but for now it's not available for me.
But my guess is, that the bokeh would be much amazing with no comparison at 1.2. At f2 it really would be interesting.
Thanks, I like your approach towards comparing the lenses. It’s practical and informative. Keep going ! I agree that the 40mm is a real sleeper - especially giving the small size. It’s great on the Zf for street work.
Thank you very much for your kind words! Really appreciate it!
They both serve total different use cases, but I had fun to do this weird comparsion :)
Thank you very much for your time watching and commenting!
Glad I was able to help you :)
Thank you very much for your time watching!
Could you please test the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 and compare it with these lenses? 🙏🙏🙏
@@ren1818ren If I get my hands on it somehow, I might do it :)
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for pointing that out, I have learned through comments like yours :)
Totally agree with you, next to the Q3 43 and Zf I also have the M system and enjoy them all.
But in some shots I took recently in family situation I think I can see the difference, that's at least how I justify my purchase :D
Thanks for watching!
Very helpful. Thank you very much.
Thank you for your time watching and your kind words!
To my eyes, the Leica looks to have a nicer rendering with more detail. But as you said it's difficult to make a call seeing it compressed by RUclips. Nice comparison though and cool penguin; my youngest daughter has a Guin Guin too 😅
Haha nice :)
Thank you very much for your time watching!
OMG… i looked since month for this comparison. Nobody has ist. THX sooo much! Realy appriciate this Video 😘
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for watching!
In some situations even my bad eyes now see some kind of difference for the Q3 43 or it is my mind trying to justify the purchase :D
Have fun with the Q3. I think with your eyes you won't be disappointed with that APO.
Thanks for watching!
Haha this is perfect.. I literally just bought the 40mm f2 to try and stop myself spending 6k on the Leica
In that case congrats on your new lens and happy shooting :)
You will have fun with it. Thanks for watching as always!
@@IntrovertAmateurexcellent video.. one day I’ll get a Leica when I’m feeling frivolous but my Z8/ X100VI combo is working for now
Please compare it against the real 43, the Pentax FA43/1.9 Limited :)
Bargain
I already heard and saw a lot about the Voigtländer Apos. Great lenses, would like to test them out in the future.
Thank you for watching!
Man, the nikon z really punches above it's weight! Wish it had the same 48MPs as the z8 but damn, photos look nice compared with the leica!
I still like my Zf although I own the Q3 simply because it provides great images :)
Thank you very much for your time watching!
I like Zf and 40mm.
Clear victory.
It's definitely has a great price / performance ratio.

@@IntrovertAmateurdid you find a way to reverse the ring in A mode in the Zf? I would like to be able to use the rear ring to increase or close the diaphragm. Do you know if it is possible? I did not find anything in the instructions to reverse the rings. Can you help me? Thanks
For those talking about "worth/money saved", you are not Lecia target audience , you are also not Ferrari/private jet sellers audience
You are on point with your very detailed comment! Thank you for that and your time watching!
Excellent video, thank you for your effort!
Thank you! And thank you for your time watching!
The Sumicron doesn’t have more reach (40mm on a full frame sensor yields the same field of view on both cameras). What you’re witnessing is the difference in resolving power of the Leica’s 61 MP sensor versus the Nikon’s 24.5 MP sensor.
Thank you for pointing that out, I have learned through comments like yours :)
Will keep this in mind. Thank you for watching!
I can buy zf and travel japan for 2 months with the extra money left from not buying q3
That's so true. But even with a Zf and the lens you could buy a small used car and one or two years of insurence :)
Thank you for watching!
Wow… impressed with that $300 lens vs the Leica APO
That lens really is amazing for it's price!
Thank you for watching!
Interesting video. Thanks for putting it together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just grab the camera and shoot :)
The normal Qs unfortunately didn't work for me because of the 28mm (in real more 26mm), but always loved the idea of a fixed lens camera.

Better micro contrast on the leica
And with people I mean persons we share our pictures with, not camera nerds :)
Thank you for watching!
@@IntrovertAmateur Yes, I can fully agree that there is no „Leica Magic“ in the images. The only magic is the lovely package of simplicity, versatility small size and weight and value. Social media is full of people who don‘t care. I will watch this and therefore leave you a subscription 😉.

At least I have a lot of different favourite meals and can't eat just one favourite meal straight for one week :D
Only for cars I don't have enough budget to afford different multiple cars just for the sake of different driving experience depending on my mood ... but I wish had luxury, but cameras are also fine :D
