Great video! Just a note on auto ISO: If you turn on Auto ISO, and then set the max allowed ISO to 200, you can then use the ISO dial to change the max allowed ISO. So it doesn't override the "auto", but it does let you change the max ISO at will. I set it this way and haven't touched it since. I just leave it in auto ISO and set the desired max via the dial. I have actually found this to be my favorite implementation of auto ISO vs sony and fuji cameras I also own.
^^^ THIS ^^^ I think that this implementation of Auto ISO along with the dial makes it THE BEST implementation of an ISO dial. It also works similarly when you have the dial set to an ISO number below your maximum by using the dial setting as the minimum. I had no idea that's how it worked, that's huge! I love the Auto ISO implementation on Fujis, except for when I want to adjust the max on the fly to something that isn't already one of the three presets. Nikon's setup sounds way better!
Yes, this is literally the way to shoot with this camera - have been using it this way since I got the camera many months ago. When you are out and about in the daylight, the Auto ISO generally chooses 100 but obviously cannot go above 200. When you move into darker places, you simply manually move the dial to a higher ISO and it automatically raises the ceiling in the menu to the new value you selected - so you essentially have 'semi'-manual control of the ISO by being able to control the AUTO ISO ceiling on the fly with the dial. Unfortunately, Nikon does not allow for the ceiling to be set at 100 (the lowest is 200) - maybe in a firmware in the future (or the next gen of this camera) they will allow for the Auto ISO ceiling to be set to 100 - essentially making it a manual setting of 100 and then you just increase the ceiling as needed with the dial - which would be the best of all worlds between manual and Auto ISO - that said 200 is very close to being as clean with only a slight drop in DR that this hardly matters and as mentioned above, when the light is bright it selects 100 anyway so this is rarely, if ever, an issue. If you have not shot this camera this way before, you are in for a treat as this literally transforms they way to will use and enjoy this epic camera! -PD

Definitely not the top, bottom or the dials. They are all definitely plastic. I was pretty upset that I couldn’t get the silver version as that has black plastic underneath silver paint. So like iPhone saying it’s made out of titanium, the XT5 may have metal components but feels like cheap plastic.
The comparisons between the Zf and XT-x cameras is natural due to their design aesthetics. One thing people have to consider is we're talking full frame vs APS-C bodies so there will naturally be a size difference. As far as weight, I think NIkon wanted the Zf to be a spiritual sibling to the F3 which was a largish and relatviely heavy film camera in its day. It feels solid and very premium in hand-- like a workhorse for pro use. Do the ergonomics work by today's standards? No, but you have to understand and appreciate what Nikon wanted from a camera like this. IMO I believe Fuji wanted to create a modern interpretation of a retro camera, and Nikon wanted to pay homage to its retro film past with modern internals. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I personally think they got it right. They just need a line of compact lenses to complement the body and aesthetics or we need it from 3rd party options.
Intentionally making a body unnecessarily heavy is a cringe move and shouldn't be considered cute by anyone's standards. Some of us actually like to carry our cameras rather than gazing at them on a shelf
Picked up the Zf last fall, some FOMO set in and I figured I’d sell it once the Z6III came out. Fast-forward almost a year later, this Zf hasn’t left my side, it’s my daily driver. It’s so damn good in so many ways, and pairs so well with the Z8. Totally agree about ISO dial and how it absolutely needs to override / turn off Auto-ISO, once it’s moved off of “C”. Also needs Cycle AF Mode. My only hardware gripe with the Zf is the omission of IBIS Lock. Minor things but I’d welcome these updates.
Regarding the grip and shutter button placement, all Nikon really needs to do is release a digital grip similar to what the Nikon 1 V3 had. It instantly takes a flat grip camera with a shutter button far back and transforms it into modern comfort, with a shutter button in the front.
Agreed! Zf, especially with refurb sales + new 26mm AF and the 1.2 primes are what everyone on Nikon side has been waiting for since the Df. Plus Nikon never skimped on build quality, especially shutter buttons, like Fuji started doing from day 2.
I’m all in on Fuji but really tempted to move to Nikon or Sony as despite loving the colours I’m sick to death of shoddy AF, the amount of almost in focus shots I get is unreal
Thanks for mentioning the shutter button placement. The camera feels heavier than it is because a lot of the weight is in the opposite side of the camera from the grip, and putting the shutter button so medial makes it difficult to shoot without shifting the hand along the grip
Gerard, Appreciate your honesty describing the Pros and Cons of the Nikon ZF. I'm a fairly long time user of Nikon, (and Canon for birding, and owning several Fujis in the past). I was very jazzed when the ZF was announced. But when I actually laid hands on it, was put off by the ergos and controls/button/setting change layout. Stupidity reigns supreme, so later I bought it anyway. But i still didn't take to it so returned it and went back to a Z6ii. I agree with all your 'cons' of the camera. I hope Nikon does an improvement in the future, as I love the 'concept' of the camera. IMHO Nikon needs to improve the ergos and make the way settings are changed more straightforward and Fuji-like. We'll look forward to your updates on your experience with it.
Haha same setup for me : Megadap & Sigma 👌💯 lenses ! Overall look & feel AND picture quality is amazing. This is the best of both world : compact Sony Lens on a gorgeous retro camera.
Which Sony lenses have you liked? I’m jealous of the smaller fast prime Sony lenses. I love my 50mm f/1.2 but it’s horribly large for the Zf. I’m interested in anything wider than 50mm and at least f/2. Preferably f/1.4 or f/1.2.
Very good video. I've had a Zf for about 3 months now. It's an upgrade from a D7500, and my first mirrorless. (I needed a quieter camera with better low-light performance.) My first serious camera was an SLR (no D) from the 1970s and in my hands, the Zf feels like a camera ought to feel. Your criticisms of its ergonomics are fair; I agree with you, but I still love this camera anyway.
The top ISO dial does function for auto ISO. You need to think of it as a maximum limiter. Auto ISO will go up to whatever your ISO dial is set to or lower down to ISO 200. You do need to turn off auto ISO manually for ISO 100. Cool video and great camera!
Second time I’ve heard this, tested both times to make sure I’m not crazy - still does not work as you describe. I have auto-ISO on, ISO dial set to “C”. Pointing camera out the window, then down at dark floor. Ranges from ISO 100 outside, to 25,600 when pointed to floor, as expected. Turned ISO dial from C to 400, nothing else changed. Getting exact same auto-ISO ranges as above. ISO dial has zero effect on anything / at any manually set ISO, unless I put dial back to “C” and manually turn off auto-ISO before turning ISO dial. If there’s a setting I’m missing, please let me know. Otherwise, when in Auto-ISO, the ISO dial is entirely disabled, even as a limiter.
@@csc-photo that's because that's a sort of hack tip that's been going around the internet. Basically you set your Auto ISO limit range on the menu screen to minimum 100 and maximum 200. so when you move the dial past the 200 mark it will raise the maximum ISO limit. if you leave the upper limit at 256000 the dial won't work like the comment mentioned. To me doesn't sound the way Nikon wanted it to work.
@@abysal311 who knows nikon having put a video explaining it. you had tell him to set it up to 200. but as you can see people set up to a higher number because is usually how it works on other cameras. it is not intuitive so set the maximum to 200. most people got for 3200 or even 6400
I loved my Nikon Zf. My biggest issue with it was the ergonomics. But I ended up giving my Zf to my wife because I wanted to by the Z6iii for work/youtube.
I owned Nikon ZFC back in 2022 and it was fun to shoot with. AF is pretty amazing. (Pls don’t compare to Sony) I loved the colour coming out of this camera. What I don’t like about ZFC is the shutter sound and it’s not something I enjoyed. Overall I was happy with ZFC except AF when you shoot video.
Great video with nice color. I'm curious if video shot on ZF with E mount lenses have weird distortion or vignette? From what I know there won't be in camera correction when adapting lenses. I'm on Z30, considering a few E mount lenses and there are so many options.
There will be with Sony lenses but not third party Sony lenses like the sigma 50mm f2 for e mount. In Lightroom the Sony lenses have Nikon profiles which don’t work, but applies the sigma profile for the correct lens
That Sony lens adapter is clever stuff… but it’s still better to get native lenses where possible, especially for wide angle. So many lenses these days rely on the body to calculate lens corrections, and your Zf isn’t going to do that for adapted Sony glass. So you may find that any Sony mount wide angles look distorted/vignetted in camera - and you need to take them to Lightroom to fix.
The underexposing issue may be because of having d-lightening set to higher values, this results in underexposing raw files to preserve highlights. Otherwise try to activate the histogramme in both viewfinders and screen (since histogram is based in jpg I would chose neutral as picture style).
Seems like a lot of jumping between systems. I have enjoyed using the Nikon Z6iii for video and the AF performance is reliable. Plus the record options aka 6K 60p or sharp 1080 240 is a nice option.
Not next level compared to Sony or canon. The autofocus points are a lot bigger and there less, Nikon zf is like 275 from memory canon is 650 and Sony is 780, that’s from memory btw Smaller points more accurate
As a long-term Nikon user, I hate the way that Nikon drip feed features in their cameras. The Zf would be my ideal camera if it had a 4:3 or 5:4 aspect ratio available. This is the one feature that I use on my D800. The 5:4 ratio is suited to vertical portraits for example. Edit: That’s a cool Nippon Kogaku hot shoe cover.
I have the A7iv well iv got 2 and 3 a7iii’s for pro work. I’d love to shift some of them and get something that’s more fun for travel. What was your deciding factor to ditch the A7iv?
I just don’t want to use my work cameras for fun, boring and I just don’t want to break them. But it was annoying using Fuji and there was a big performance drop, Nikon zf is similar to the A7iv
I know there's a lot of Fiji users who are thinking about this camera as well. I think the Fiji auto focus is definitely an issue but I do think once Fuji fix that I think people will jump back to the XT5 in droves and XH cameras not saying they are better cameras. I just think people want to stick with the Fuji colours. The only thing that put me off about this particular camera was 24 megapixels. I do think it doesn't give you a lot of room to crop and I know a lot of people will say that 24 megapixels is a sweet spot for me. It's not. I would've preferred 32 or 36 especially in 2024 I think 36 megapixels I would be buying this camera tomorrow and I know it's not all about megapixels but I do think it's an advantage to have a few more than 24...36 would've been an absolute beautiful camera.
24mp full frame is way more detailed, less grain more dynamic range sharper than a 40mp APSC sensor The A7iv 33mp is sure nice but I can’t tell a difference
@@gerardneedham I get that but it doesn't give you much latitude to crop. I'm just not a fan of 24 megapixels. I never have been and I never will be and grain is not an issue now especially given that we have de noise software. I just think this would've been a great 32 to 36 megapixel camera
@@nevvanclarke9225in my opinion, there is more ability to crop with the Nikon, regardless of megapixel size. Try it for yourself and see what you think but for me, I can crop just as much on the Nikon and I think it looks better. The 40 megapixels of the x-t5 is actually a huge downer for me. I don't like storing that kind of data. I really wish this megapixel war would end. Keeping my fingers crossed for a x-pro4 with 24 megapixels tops. The 16 of the x-t1 was more than enough. But to each their own
Nice overview with good samples on still & motion sides. Kind of surprised to hear you bring your screens up to 100% brightness on every camera.. I never do this personally as I feel it misrepresents exposure in bright areas.. You shoot mostly outdoors perhaps?
Yeah dude I’m about to buy a voigtlander lens, I also did want to mention the manual focus experience but just get enough time to test it out, 3 month review I’ll get a few manual focus lenses
I had the Neewer grip on mine for a couple of months but ended up taking it off as I found it made the camera feel too bulky. Now I'm loving the native grip. Having said that, I only intend on using small sized lenses on it. At the moment the 40mm f2 and I've got the TTArtisan 75mm f2 coming to Oz in a week; cheap as heck so I'll let you know how it goes lol. Funny you mentioned the 28mm f2 Sony; I was wanting a 28mm f2 and wasn't sure, but now I'm looking at the Sony with an adaptor! The Zf is my street/video/social snapper. PS The Newie baths shots look great!
Is everyone pretty in Australia? On another note, did the drop in megapixels affect the way you shoot? Because I imagine you have to be more deliberate about your composition
Definitely disappointed with the auto focus system on the X-T5 but they have released a new AF system with the X-M5! It looks miles better than what they have currently, hopefully they port it to their other cameras.
Lovely colors, especially on the video 😍! Regarding your comment about the A-priority and auto iso: Its smarter than you think: Set the auto Iso to 100 (the lowest setting in the menu), and the Dail now acts as an override. Turn your dail to 3200 and thats your new max auto iso.
Regarding the grip, I highly recommend a thumb grip. Make sure to buy one that has a small metal connector between the thumb rest and camera. Otherwise, you might flex your hot shoe.
Dude, the last guy actually said the opposite 😅. It’s too confusing to keep watch videos on, basically if I turn the dial it doesn’t do anything. Not change the min or max iso value, unless I turn off auto iso
@@gerardneedham Haha, sorry to hear that! Here, it works flawlessly: auto ISO is set to max 100 as the upper limit in the menu, and now you can turn the dial to override the max limit as high or low as you prefer > dont set it to C!
I brought that camera and sold it as even tho it’s a great camera, I was just not inspired to use it for photography. Seems to futuristic rather than a analog feel
Yeah can be a bit busy in the September/October with the 3 to 4 weddings a week. But if you have a good team your all set, my partner does all the heavy lifting
Question about the ISO dial: can you just turn auto ISO off and then use the dial exclusively until you turn it back on? Or do you literally have to go turn auto ISO off through the menu system every time you boot up the camera before you can shoot in fully manual?
you can turn auto iso off and will stay off forever until you turn it back on. I think if you shoot manual iso all the time you will have no issues. if you shoot auto iso all the time you will have no issue either. The confusion seems to be for those who constantly switch from auto iso to auto iso off.

Nice vid bro. I wanna get one now! Btw the "larger pixel = less noise" myth has been debunked, it;s not true. Higher mpx sensors are less noisy when downsampled to i.e. 24mpx than a native 24mp sensor would be. fyi.
Mmmm, I seen that video but he does say don’t pixel pep so yeah if you print or display side by side you won’t notice right? Check the link below and select say a 20mp R6 and the 45mp R5 and set the iso too 3200 iso and you see for yourself. most cameras also only downsample to JPEG files not Raw files. so the XT5 40mp APSC sensor gets pretty noisey after 1250 while this zf is clean even at 8000 iso, the max I’ll go to in my A7iv 33mp is about 4000 iso, anything past that it starts to fall apart. www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison?attr18=daylight&attr13_0=canon_eosr6&attr13_1=canon_eosr5&attr13_2=apple_iphonex&attr13_3=apple_iphonex&attr15_0=jpeg&attr15_1=jpeg&attr15_2=jpeg&attr15_3=jpeg&attr16_0=3200&attr16_1=3200&attr16_2=32&attr16_3=32&normalization=full&widget=1&x=0.1157531933145888&y=0.07352433778497842
The ergonomics issue you mention about a female hand not being able to reach the shutter button misses a point: You use a third party grip that has not been designd in partnership with Nikon. The SmallRig grip was sold from launch date on and is even sold via Nikon's own online store. It's certainly not Nikon's fault how 3rd party brands make their grips.
Finally. Now I can subscribe to you again. But I must disagree. After using the Sony a7iii, a7iv and a7cii, I find the autifocus at least as good if not better. With Sony it catches eyes too often when my square is not over and I wanted to focus for example on the hands when people looked down. So I had to put eye focus on an extra button and turn it off with normal focusing. Which works way better with 3d focus on Nikon. Everything was better with the nikon Zf vs my Sony a7cii except of lens choice which is why I just can't switch.
Arrrr the Nikons 3d tracking is definitely not as good as Sony, I also have a custom button to turn off eye af, but I only use the 3d tracking or wide af with eye af on or off. And when you know how to select your subject with Sony, you really never miss
@ I agree about the Sony thing when selecting a subject, but then I do not want to select a subject like a person or eye or so and really want to lay the focus in the middle of let's say two persons, it is sometimes just impossible as the subject tracking will kick in, even when my spot was not even close to those subjects. I am just faster with 3d tracking. Or maybe I am doing something wrong. Could you make a video on how you use this on Sony (and maybe compare to Nikon)?
For some reason when I tried the Nikon ZF for a month, eye AF with 3D tracking was always off. It would show green box on the eye indicating it is solid and acquired but when playback or reviewing in Lightroom, it would be focused a plane closer like on a shirt collar or something with the eye not sharp. I really wanted to like and switch to the ZF but I like how I can reliably get the shot and focus with Sony and I like that the lenses I have with sony have aperture rings. Not sure why their 40SE Nikon has a “fake” or no aperture ring lol
It's always fascinating to me what some consider deal breakers. Different needs for different people, I get it. Open gate means nothing to me. I can still shoot any video I want without it. And anything above 4k to me is also useless. Actually, the studio I work with wants weddings shot at 1080p. The only time I use 4k is for my own videos, and it's so unnecessary lol
Agree. Same. After the last crazy quality drop and price hike I promised myself a cool fake for Christmas, I've already scouted it out at kislux and will put the rest into an investment account.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I personally think they got it right. They just need a line of compact lenses to complement the body and aesthetics or we need it from 3rd party options.
Yeah I just wish they pulled that shutter button back off to the side, it’s in a unique position to say the least
Yeah I think a firmware update would be great
I use the record button for cycle AF mode, it work’s well.
Yeah the build quality is top notch! Nikon lenses are also amazing
I’m all in on Fuji but really tempted to move to Nikon or Sony as despite loving the colours I’m sick to death of shoddy AF, the amount of almost in focus shots I get is unreal
Yeah Fuji autofocus is not good at all, also colors from Fuji is a myth and I’m about to make a video addressing this in 2 weeks
@@gerardneedhaminterested to hear your thoughts on that, the sooc images are as good as they get imo
Thanks for mentioning the shutter button placement. The camera feels heavier than it is because a lot of the weight is in the opposite side of the camera from the grip, and putting the shutter button so medial makes it difficult to shoot without shifting the hand along the grip
Yeah silly decision hopefully the mkii will fix that
Gerard, Appreciate your honesty describing the Pros and Cons of the Nikon ZF.
Yeah Nikon need to make some more of these f2 primes like the 40mm
Yeah great welcome to the mirrorless world let’s hope the zf version 2 has a grip like the XT5
That Neewer grip definitely makes it look alot like Nikon F3..
This Nikon is actually almost an exact copy of the Nikon f3 with the red line and everything such a sick camera!!
The red stripe is from the Neewer grip that he added to the camera. It looks awesome.
Yeah with that neewer grip it does, I think it looks more like the F3 a more legendary too
The top ISO dial does function for auto ISO.
Ranges from
ISO 100 outside, to 25,600 when pointed to floor, as expected.
@csc-photo hmm I'll have to dust off the olde youtube channel and do a video on it.
@@LonChera-1 Yeah that's basically how I have it set-up, and think its exactly how Nikon intended it to work...
@@abysal311 who knows nikon having put a video explaining it. you had tell him to set it up to 200. but as you can see people set up to a higher number because is usually how it works on other cameras. it is not intuitive so set the maximum to 200. most people got for 3200 or even 6400
damn your models are F-I-N-E
Yeah the flower knows his angles
I loved my Nikon Zf. My biggest issue with it was the ergonomics. But I ended up giving my Zf to my wife because I wanted to by the Z6iii for work/youtube.
Let’s go keen to test out that camera
I owned Nikon ZFC back in 2022 and it was fun to shoot with. AF is pretty amazing. (Pls don’t compare to Sony) I loved the colour coming out of this camera. What I don’t like about ZFC is the shutter sound and it’s not something I enjoyed.
Overall I was happy with ZFC except AF when you shoot video.
Yeah Sammy mate I remember you shootings on that Nikon back in Japan
Great video with nice color. I'm curious if video shot on ZF with E mount lenses have weird distortion or vignette? From what I know there won't be in camera correction when adapting lenses. I'm on Z30, considering a few E mount lenses and there are so many options.
There will be with Sony lenses but not third party Sony lenses like the sigma 50mm f2 for e mount.
In Lightroom the Sony lenses have Nikon profiles which don’t work, but applies the sigma profile for the correct lens
@gerardneedham That's great. I can consider some Sigma. Thanks for replying
Yeah if you use Sony lenses you have to fix the profile correction, works perfectly fine for third party glass
You could try your Fuji lenses on the Nikon with the Boryoza AF adapter
I could but they are APSC I prefer full frame lenses on full frame
The underexposing issue may be because of having d-lightening set to higher values, this results in underexposing raw files to preserve highlights. Otherwise try to activate the histogramme in both viewfinders and screen (since histogram is based in jpg I would chose neutral as picture style).
Nah I checked that, just he screen is pretty bad. But it’s plenty bright in full sun in the standard brightness
Great video my man, such a cool camera!
It really is!
Seems like a lot of jumping between systems. I have enjoyed using the Nikon Z6iii for video and the AF performance is reliable. Plus the record options aka 6K 60p or sharp 1080 240 is a nice option.
Yeah I’m keen to try this camera out next year
Your videos are colorfully shot. Beautiful.
Cheers, I try to make them look nice 😊
@@gerardneedham May I ask what you shoot your videos on ?
Sorry, but the autofocus on the ZF is next level. Did you check your settings? It might also be lens related..
Not next level compared to Sony or canon. The autofocus points are a lot bigger and there less, Nikon zf is like 275 from memory canon is 650 and Sony is 780, that’s from memory btw
Smaller points more accurate
I am looking to see what Nikon does with the future Nikon Z5 Mark 2
Let’s goooo
24mp full frame is way more detailed, less grain more dynamic range sharper than a 40mp APSC sensor
The A7iv 33mp is sure nice but I can’t tell a difference
Yeah works well on all my other cameras! The only issue is cheap video monitors I’ve brought from Amazon
definitely try out the voigtlander lenses. the 40 1.2 is very good
Yeah dude I’m about to buy a voigtlander lens, I also did want to mention the manual focus experience but just get enough time to test it out, 3 month review I’ll get a few manual focus lenses
I have the 50mm f1 and absolutely love it. Thinking of picking up the 75 f1.5 eventually since I mostly shoot portraits.
@@gerardneedham50 f2 apo lanthar is another fantastic lens
This is all about matter of taste which camera one likes most. The images itself are not much better, this is about skills.
Churrrrr
just sold one of my fuji lenses yesterday... the first of several !! Love My ZF !!!
Let’s goooo, FujiFilm need to fix there cameras
I want to sell my Fuji XT5 and get this camera. Only concern is weight. Is it very heavy?
As someone with a ton of e-mount glass curious about the Zf, I’d love to see the autofocus tested versus native glass
I don’t think there is a difference at all from what I see online
@@gerardneedhamyou’re right. I’ve been looking around since your video and they all seem to say it works great
I had the Neewer grip on mine for a couple of months but ended up taking it off as I found it made the camera feel too bulky.
The new pool at newy is epic to shoot. Yeah basically the only option I found find was that Sony 28mm f2 with good af performance
@@gerardneedham AF is good? Okay, that's what I needed to know!
Just use it a day or two without the grip you won't miss it.
I would have loved to know which lens was used for the portrait shoot photos in the video!
Mainly the 50mm, link in the description
@ thank you!
Is everyone pretty in Australia? On another note, did the drop in megapixels affect the way you shoot? Because I imagine you have to be more deliberate about your composition
Yeah mate, water is good here
Also no, 24mp full frame is miles better than 40mp APSC
You'll be back…
To Fuji, mmmmm let’s see next year
Definitely disappointed with the auto focus system on the X-T5 but they have released a new AF system with the X-M5! It looks miles better than what they have currently, hopefully they port it to their other cameras.
Yeah I might sell the XT5 for that camera
Thanks for the review! just in case but where is that beach located?
That’s at home Coolangatta snapper rocks or up in Noosa
@ Amazing place! Thanks
Lovely colors, especially on the video 😍! Regarding your comment about the A-priority and auto iso: Its smarter than you think:
Set the auto Iso to 100 (the lowest setting in the menu), and the Dail now acts as an override.
Yeah the grip I got goes straight into the 1/4 thread in the bottom
@@gerardneedham Haha, sorry to hear that! Here, it works flawlessly: auto ISO is set to max 100 as the upper limit in the menu, and now you can turn the dial to override the max limit as high or low as you prefer > dont set it to C!
Btw what grip u using?
It’s from newwer should be an Amazon link in the description mate
Your model its gorgeous beautiful
Yes models and generally good looking
Do you think this camera will start increasing in popularity ?
Yeah I also it will hold it’s value for a few years
I'm curious why you didn't go with the sony a6700 as you're already in the ecosystem.
im guessing cause he was looking for the dials look and a full frame. In the beginning he mentioned the look was the most main reason.
I brought that camera and sold it as even tho it’s a great camera, I was just not inspired to use it for photography. Seems to futuristic rather than a analog feel
Full frame duh. Full frame lenses on a crop sensor suck
How do you have time to make YT content while shooting weddings, Gerry? 👏 Also, thanks for the cameo! Jeremy
Also, great review! I haven’t tried the Nikon Zf, but love my Fuji X-T100 for travel. Portable is key 🙌
Yeah can be a bit busy in the September/October with the 3 to 4 weddings a week.
But if you have a good team your all set, my partner does all the heavy lifting
Fuji says Film Simulations and Nikon Picture Control. And it's easy to find.
700 grams only for the body coupled with a difficult grip might be a bit too much for travel 🤔 The Z6 iii is only 760 grams and has better grip
True, but the Nikon Zf has street credit. I’ll only travel with max 3 lenses
Z6iii is heavier than Zf.
Fujifilm XT5 is not plastic. Its Magnesium Alloy.
Yes, you can shoot in full manual without having to toggle auto ISO each time.
I haven’t used the manual exposure only for video and the auto iso turns off when you choose the iso it works as it should
what camera and lens u r using for talking head shot?
Sony A7iv and the sigma 24mm f1.4 dg DN

Well to be honest mate not all the models I shoot with want there IG in the description as they get too many creepy creeps message them from RUclips.
It’s also a huge pain in some videos as I’ll show 10-20 models from previous shoots, and I also pay my models. So it’s a bigger picture mate, so yes I’m a photographer who puts the model first!

It looks more like the F3 to me with that red line
Yeah 100% the FM line is from the Nikon website, F3 is more of a well known camera right
That NZ accent strikes again.
Yooooza
How would compare it to your fx30 for videos ?
I prefer Sonys stabilisation but Nikons nlog full frame is also better for video in my personal opinion

Nikon need a few small weather sealed lenses if possible.
Yeah that would be nice 28mm, 50mm and a 90mm made of metal with aperture ring would be nice
The HT5 has a magnesium alloy body, not plastic.
Yes the XT5 has some metal in the main body, but the top bottom and dials are plastic and wear horribly
Prefer the files coming out of the Fujis to the 24mp FF
Mmmmm I’m starting to like the Nikon files better 🤣
Yeah same , sold my 1 year old ZF after got my hands on the Fuji x100vi. Files are better on the Fuji for me
Just wait until Nikon cloud offers film sims for ZF tho
@ I meant Raws
Not sure why their 40SE Nikon has a “fake” or no aperture ring lol
its looks huge
Great video
Thanks for the visit
Canon I’m waiting for your response… call it the Canon AE-1D give it 18-24 megapixels no video needed.
Yeah but if you want no video you gotta pay the big bucks mate, Leica
@ well I wouldn’t compare a canon version and the Nikon ZF to a Leica.
No 6.5k open gate is a huge dealbreaker for me
Photo first camera mate, open gate would be nice but I prefer photography.
