Great video Shamir! Really well edited and I loved your practical insights into preparation for landing at an unfamiliar airport. The PC-12 is a beautiful airplane. You have one of the best video sites of all the ones I watch. Do more!
Phenomenal views and great cam views Shamir. Great tutorial on the instruments of the PC 12/47. That was a very nice flight and greased that landing. Looking forward to more! 👍👍👍
I really enjoyed the video, it’s nice to see you flying in the Southern Caribbean! However, you kept calling Guadeloupe, Martinique. In the island chain it’s Guadeloupe, Dominica then Martinique when flying from North to South. Keep up the good work.
Capt. Shamir, what an enjoyable, informative flight! I've finally subscribed, ashamed I hadn't previously as I have watched many of your St. Barts and related videos for over a year. As a long-time non-pilot aviation enthusiast, I find your narrative very confidence-inspiring and relaxing. You balance your flight procedures, communications with ATC, and out-the-window travel-guide banter with a friendly, but professional ease. Oh and yes, what a stunning approach into Bequia! This is the kind of aerial sight-seeing from multiple flight levels you'll never experience on larger commercial flights. The PC-12 appears to be the perfect Caribean flight tool, with a magical mix of near STOL runway performance, a more efficient cruise speed, adequate passenger/payload/range, all in pressurized comfort, and a manageable flight deck for the pilot(s). I would think every meaningful airport in the Caribean is accessible to the PC-12 with the possible exception of Saba. I'd love to find myself one of your passengers one day, but being resident in Thailand it may be a while. Thanks for taking us along.
Hi Bill.. Thanks for joining! I'm glad you liked my content and its definitely reason to bring you more!! I agree with you; I think the PC-12 can land on basically any runway in the Caribbean. SABA, I think number wise it checks out, but conditions must be favorable for this to happen. I'm planning on visiting Thailand next year! who knows?
Great video! Thanks for the cockpit /panel views , as a pilot I like seeing the numbers, as much as the views. Plus you are flying one of my favorite airplanes, love the PC 12!
Awesome video Shamir!!! Great views of my wonderful Caribbean, I'm from Trinidad. What a beautiful day it was with awesome views. I always love the takeoff out of St Barts Rwy 10, that hard left right after wheels up!! Great tips for cross country planning, you said some great points that sometimes we as pilots take for granted. Thanks
I discovered your channel recently, great content, love it, seriously keep it up. Just wanna to say that Martinique is the island at 29:00 , the one you called Martinique is Guadeloupe, another French island. Guadeloupe and Martinique are sometimes called the sister islands since there is strong relation between both islands and between the people. There is also relations between Martinique, Guadeloupe and St Martin or St Barth with contless flight operated mainly by Air Antilles Express, Air Caraibes and also St Barth Commuter
You are flying in God's back yard. Beautiful! If you need any ballast call me. It would be a bucket list trip. :)) LOL Safe flying to you Shamir! Enjoy your videos. Brings back memories of my last landing at Bequia. And gorgeous sailing out on a 50 foot sailing catamaran. One if the best weeks of life!
Hi Shamir, very nice video it brought back memories of a business trip I made to St Vincent years ago .That airport have an interesting approach as well since is one way in and out , at least back then. They were planning for a new airport location which I don’t know if they build it. Safe flying and stay safe . Arturo 🛩🛩🛩👍👍😎😎🏝🏝🏝
Hello Shamir, your video was superb in so many ways. As a Pilot I enjoy the detail, and the video editing quality makes it a very pleasant trip. Subscribedl.
I tried landing at that same airport in FS2020. While the approach doesn’t look as beautiful, the airport looks very similar but the control tower is missing. I enjoyed the virtual flight.
Hey Shamir! I love your videos, they are really well made and very enjoyable to watch. I use your videos to help me learn to fly the PC-12 on my PC Simulator. I was wondering if you would be able to talk a little bit about landing the PC-12 in a video. It all happens so fast it's hard to see what the procedure is, in terms of what you do with the throttle and when you flare, etc. That would be great to learn from a real PC-12 pilot! Keep up the great work! :)
Hi Matt, I’m glad this helped you out on Flight Sim! I used to flight sim hardcore before and I can tell you, this bird handles waaay differently on the real life than on a Joystick. It will be probably impossible to recreate a landing following “real world” techniques in a Sim. Now, let me know if you need the air speeds for safe operation of Landing Gear, Flaps and Approach speeds and that, we can work it out!
31:00 I guess ATC just assumed you had the RNAV 04 plate for St. Vincent handy, even though you weren't going there???? (BOTAB and MIXUV are on that approach.)
I’m sure the PC-12 is a safe and reliable aircraft, but on a future video, can you talk about the preparation and risk factors to be considered when flying over water with a single engine aircraft?
Shamir Fersobe Thanks, I’m a private pilot and although I haven’t flown for a bit, as I get older, the thought of flying in the Caribbean (where I live) in a C172 doesn’t seem so appealing even though I’ve done it before many years ago.
Hello Shamir, I have 2 questions, please. - What were you activating after gear up, the yaw dumper? - Then, with Foreflight App, I’ve noticed that in your Maps mode, your WPs were not in the right order to perform your approach with your clearance despite your flight plan. Were you just looking and using the search bar as a kind of trick to find the position of the WP after being cleared for the direct MIXUV? Then with the second clearance asking report BOTAB to find this new WP? I’m just asking because I’m pretty sure we all have our own tricks to use this app and that’s interesting to learn from people’s uses. Thanks, R.
Hi Romain, Yes, the Y/D was turned on as soon as I brought the gear up. Also, I turned off the Landing and Taxi Lights. ForeFlight is a great tool for figuring things out before you make a decision on your routing. This is specially true if you’re flying with old GPS like the Garmin 530 and 430. I find myself using FF to verify waypoints, gliding distance etc. However, truth be told, when I fly with the Garmin 750/650 combo, my phone stays in my pocket as those new Garmins are AMAZING!
Shamir Fersobe thanks for your reply! Yes I imagine about the 750! I’ve had a look on it but I am just experienced with 430/530. By the way, great video, thanks for this!
How did the windshield clear itself on the outside without wipers? Didn't look like the prop running clear a part of it but later in the video it was completely clear
