F to whoever had to read that sheet music for the first time

It's not that difficult to read you should read beethoven manuscript
A cHoPiN fAn LUL yeah beethoven is quite worse
I’d have to admit it’s much better than Beethoven manuscript but with either sheet music I’d give up as soon as soon as I saw it.
These are by far the best tutorials on RUclips. And I love the history and insights into their lives and mindsets. Really puts me in the mood to learn! Thanks so much! And what a beautiful song, can't wait to learn it all!
Thank you sir. I could play the first and last melody but had almost given up trying to learn the middle sections. Your description of the chords has unraveled what seemed like a random set of notes and fingering to painstakingly learn. You have inspired me to go back and learn the piece anew.
Very interesting and informative! I wish there were more tutorials in this style :)
Paul I just wanted to thank you for this truly amazing and extremely helpful instruction. It’s such a gift to all of us out here learning piano!
This is exactly the tutorial I've been looking for, once again you save the day! That middle section is so intimidating but the way your videos break it all down makes it not such a daunting task, thank you.
Paul, this is my favorite Chopin Etude. Thanks for this great tutorial. I will learn this piece as soon as my teacher allows me to.
Paul, this lesson is just what is needed for all of the Chopin works. Your patient explanations are great. You may not know how much good will ultimately come of your selfless advice. I can only praise you for your kind contribution to the culture of Chopin.
Wonderful! Your tutorials are always filled with so much useful information! I love this Etude! I hope I can play it someday! Thank you so much for sharing!
Origional manuscript. Pieces of history. Should be in a museum somewhere.
Hitherto90 there are
Hitherto90 there's pictures of them online he probably use
@@redalert374 no shit sherlock
@@cobblie8789 nah bro, he has the original Chopin manuscript just chilling in his house. 😂
@@e.hutchence-composer8203 One of the elephants sprayed the manuscript with water, not to worry, just wipe it clean with your hand.
Paul, thank you so much for this tutorial. Because of some hand injuries your fingering has made this etude a possibility for me. i really appreciate the way in which you break section down and in your gentle way bring them to life. Thanks you again.
Just watching this tutorial, makes me feel ready to just breeze through this piece. I'm sure that wont be the way of it through. Nocturne no.2 is the hardest piece by Chopin I'm able to properly play. It will probably be a little while before I'm actually ready for any of the etude's. Thanks for the tutoring though. It will surly pay off in the future.
Thanks Paul - great bit of tuition that will help me get the middle bit of this indescribably beautiful and haunting piece -one of my top favourites. You have also shown me something valuable about touch.
Many thanks.
A very beneficial teaching method. Keep up the good work. Dan

I can only praise you for your kind contribution to the culture of Chopin. from a piano technician, this is a compliment to you,,,,,,,,,,
Excellent video. I’ve always wanted to learn this Etude. It’s now on my list!
Thanks for posting this very helpful tutorial. All of your videos are wonderful, with so much care put into them. Best wishes from Istanbul.
thankyou,you're a great teacher
pls keep making videos
Thank you so much to help me get through this etude, especially in middle sessions
Thanks Paul!!! Great tutorial and very well played!
Hi Paul! I'm a piano player from Spain. Your chopin's etudes tutorials are amazing and clear! (specially this one and the op 10 no 4 etude)
Thanks for your work!
your tutorial is really a big help for me. THANK YOU!
I'm just enloved of this Wonderful Etude. It sends to me soul something indescriptible.
Nice history lesson too! You obviously put a lot of effort on this production. Chopin is smiling at you from above for sure!
Thanks Paul, this is certainly helping to finesse the more rough parts.
Thank you, master. No more fear for these etudes
I enjoyed your tutorial, Paul.
I had successed with this piece. It make tears everytime i played. This is the most beautiful thing on Earth! Thanks to you Paul and the master Chopin!
Thank you for 5:07!! It really helped me out and I learned the piece in half the time :D
My fingers hurt just watching this!
It's gonna take forever to even play this slowly and stupidly.
Thanks for the tutorial! It really helps to watch the fingering.
If you can play something slowly you can play it quickly

7:05 is a very unexpected tip… love it Paul!
Could u keep a tutorials on scherzo ? Cuz I like your tutorials a lot. Once again thanks a lot for your tutorials on these etudes. It helped me lot!!!
Thanks you so much I'm 16 and I'm going to learn that piece😌
i'm learning some more! thanks!
Excellent tutorial
THANK YOU PAUL!!!
Wonderful performance !
Great - a valuable video, thanks!
Great great great tutorial, as always...
Thanks for everything Paul (especially chopin's etudes), you are officialy my internet piano teacher :))
You're also getting famous within the small community of piano addicts interns in Paris.
Next time you land in France, don't hesitate to come and play with us!
PS: we always keep excellent Champagne in the fridge XD
Thank...thankkkkk....thankkkkkkkk.....beautifullllll. i love this music.
wonderful tutorial paul!
i can say, it's one of the hardest etudes. maybe the hardest!! hands and brain can learn hard movements - sections, but this etude... this etude has a serious finger technique at first section, and has a very serious second section. but it improves this masterpieces mood... i'm in love with this piece ( also i think it cannot be a etude. chopin could wrote it like a nocturne)
I thought this would be one of the easiest Etudes to learn. But then again I haven't tried any others yet.. Some of them sound pretty difficult though!
Thank you so much. Very helpful to me.
Great tutorial! This looks like it would take a very, very long time to learn
it does
not nessaserily just depends on how yo disect it go for it
For me the only hard part are those sixths in the middle section. I learned this in almost 2 months
@@JSerrato289 for how long have you been playing the piano?
@@gabrielferrari7909 lost track since i have time blindness
Probably like... 5 or 6 years now? But i barely play anymore but i still know how to play Liebestraum, i hope
I am Brazilian. No speak English. "Gostei muito das suas explicações, porque sou apaixonado por teclado e piano e essa é uma música difícil pra um iniciante e eu apesar de ter um teclado há 30 anos, 😭, não tenho coordenação com as mãos e postura, vou observar bastante seu vídeo nessa música, pois ela me lembra da minha falecida avó, que ouvia em seu disco de vinil, e eu sentava aos seus pés com cadernos e livros da escola, ainda criança! Muito obrigado pelas suas explicações! 👋"
Suena hermosisimo..
This video helped me for my incoming recital
Has there ever been a better example pure music than Chopin? Makes me feel fortunate to be a human-being.

No, I live in Thailand and Goggle doesn't allow us to monetize our videos here.
***** Aw.. That's bad. You should be credited.
+Paul Barton can you please tell me my errors in my version thanks
I like learning about Chopin's feelings about certain pieces and other little anecdotes. Could you tell me where you read the bit about Chopin's comments about this piece or the part about him tearing up when playing it in front of a student. I would like to read that as well. Thanks
Is it a good idea to only play the pedal when it says, or are you supposed to have pedal frequently?
thanx for you tutorial.. =)
cual estudio de chopin me aconsejaria comenzar por primera vez? vi moscheles, czerny 740 cramer, mozkovsky
thanks for tutorial
Hi! Does anybody know where he gets the original manuscript?
Learning this in 2020
Btw for anyone who is about to write a hate comment on how he didn't acctually show you how to play it, this video is a tutorial on *how to practice* the hard parts of this piece.
wow....ur so cool..thank u....
Do I have to press the tre corda pedal all the song? Because I don´t know how to get the legatto effect withouth it.
P.d Best Chopin Tutorial Ever
The most beautiful melodies for me are this etude , rachmaninoffs prelude op 23 no 4 ,franz liszts benediction to god in solitude ,and debussy reflets dans leau
That section 3 is what gave me the most trouble, just couldn't get that fingering to work. Section 4 I could get sometimes, tricky as it was I liked it. 5 had its issues too...I'm not a pianist, I'm a damn mechanic! :) Otherwise I found the rest of this piece rather easy for the most part. Really liked this piece though...can't even remember it now, I'd have to start over!
my right wrist is really sore as i play this piece.. got to figure out some other ways to play it. and i'm really watching this clip really carefully!
@PaulBartonPiano - Of Course!! XD
How about the pedal? Do I have to step on it lightly all the time?
Where did you get the score? That's wonderful.
What is up with your left hand at 1:40 0_0
+Sayeedur123 The pressure he applies changes the flow of blood, now you know.
Argh that section 4! 3 is a "piece of cake" compared to the 4th! But I can't wait to actually learn everything perfectly!
Thank you, I like this piece, learning to play it but never to get thru part 1. Maybe I need more time and dedication. Can anyone here suggest a list of easy Chopin's? Of course we amateurs can't touch Fantasies Impromptu but an easy etude, frelude, or valse is worth to work on so we can go around and brag about it (Yeah, I can play Chopin!)
Nam Nguyen Lol, starting out with playing Chopin isn’t always the best idea for a beginner (but we do it anyway hehe). At least that’s what How I started. Of course, the fantasie and the polonaises are in the more difficult side. I would definitely recommend his Prelude Op
28 No. 4 and No. 20 since they are the easiest to play while still holding that Chopinesque style of music. The values are, at the easiest, an intermediate to difficult level. Nonetheless, I recommend the waltz in a minor posthumous. It’s actually one of his more famous waltzes while containing a tricky middle section with a fifth tuplet but I’m sure you’ll get it. I would also recommend a few of his mazurkas when you begin to grasp his chromatic style. Mazurka op. 67 No 2 or op. 68 No 3. Then you can build up to his nocturnes. The nocturnes will help you play the triplets that are often weird to play while still sounding harmonic. If you’re up for the challenge I recommend Nocturne op 72 no 1. Hope this helped :)
Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 wasn't all that hard for me. Took me maybe 2 months to learn it all, and I wouldn't consider myself an advanced player. Just takes dedication!
ti eta 'amazing' moi druk))
Aren't you glad for modern sheet music?
Dear Paul, your tutorial (especially on the middle section) has been very helpful to help my 6-year old son learn this piece. Thank you for all your help. Here is a video of his performance: ruclips.net/video/CJqPmGde1sM/видео.html
@MrPeterDragon what about fantasie impromptu? i think its harder than nocturne no.2, isnt it? may be im wrong :)
NoiaGat .
Yes it is, but I'm not really very good at that piece. Nocturne no.2 is about the hardest thing I would actually feel comfortable playing around people.
jeez i thought section 3 was the hardest as i was learning this, then i got to section 4 thinking it would be super hard but its really not lol, now im on section 5 and i regret trying to learn this song
Brutal Arts ikr
The manuscript is marked Vivace? o.O
I played just the right hand leave a comment maestro
shouldn't the G at 8:08 be a G#?
nice tutorial still cant figure how to play 7:08
Play slow. After you've built those muscle memory on your head, it'll come eventually. Starting from very slow tempo, gradually increasing.
One quirk to note: practice the RH first until you get it fast, then combine it with left and play it slow. Further, you can even play both hands without looking at the RH at all because of muscle memory. (This comes from my personal experience btw)
i think its easier to play it without the need of sight reading, but remembering this piece is soooooooooooo hardddddddddddddddddddddddddd(to me at least :P)
Nobody can read from that messy sheet mr chopin D
hahaha!!!
There is something bothering me so much with this piece: it is the section starting at 7:22. Basically every pianist i heard playing this piece so far is emphasizing the first high right hand chord and all the following high ones. However, all of them are down beats! The whole rhythm gets killed completely!! I realize it is difficult to keep the emphasis away from it after jumping with the hand and instead emphasize the second one, but i mean, they are pros! Or just dont rush it so much then! Arrrr.... i get so frustrated of hearing that from everyone :(
can you post a link to a performance that plays it correctly?
@@iN31L Sorry, i didn't hear it played well from anyone on youtube yet! Lisitsa, Pollini, Peraiha, Lang Lang, Arrau, Richter, even Horowitz... i'd love to post something myself (not at all a good player), but first have to learn it ;)
@@schnipsikabel hmm... maybe if all the masters are playing it incorrectly, then incorrectly is the way to play it :)
@@iN31L haha... yes maybe ;) However, i'm still convinced it could be way more beautiful if somebody managed to keep the beat all the way through. Only that way, that section connects to the parts before! Otherwise, it really sounds completely random to me, and so it seems to the masters, who rush through it as if to say: "just some complicated stuff, admire me for my dexterity meanwhile and wait till it gets beautiful again soon". Keeping the correct beat is difficult though, just sitting at the piano right now ;)
@@schnipsikabel I'm learning this piece right now and have so far made it to 6:10 with not too much trouble, but I've yet to reach the hard parts. I'll keep your comment in mind!
sheet for this anyone pls ??
Just search Cortot PDF of Op.10
My only issue with this tutorial is the difficulty of the piece. I play this myself, and I have worked for years to be able to learn it.. this is NOT a piece to create a tutorial for on youtube. It requires virtuosic technique along with mastery of playing with multiple voices which is not something to learn from a video.
+Michael Pychel The video is helpful only to those who are already advanced. It gives tips on interpretations and gives exercises to help practice voicing. It will not help someone who does not possess the skill to play this already.
Very true. I must admit that I did take his teachings into consideration after watching this video haha.
+Michael Pychel Aha me too, Mr. Barton is always quite helpful.
Maybe you should study his technique after watching the videos.
Eurisko Lontano In fact, I did.
xx
Don't be jealous, you Brits have Fish and Chips :))
just as i was about to try this song....my keyboard decides to have a dead power supply. now i wont be able to play this :(
Would be better if you connected the notes with your fingers more
if you want to teach us something at east show the notes from above not on a slant ! you shd know better !
