I have returned to my Beloved Piano after 35 years almost.. ( My parents allowed me to sell my Piano to buy my first Car, a Mk 1 Ford Cortina in 1973 !! ), having spent money on my Piano lessons and stopping before taking my Grade Seven. I was leaving home and going into a Career.. I have dabbled on the odd Keyboard for a couple of years now and have purchased a Yamaha P-115 Keyboard.. Thanks to Paul Barton and his tutorials, I am picking up where I left off and working my way through this beautiful piece by Debussy.. My Piano teacher in the seventies would get frustrated when she had to keep on showing me certain bars that i was stuck on .... Now thanks to this type of tutorial by Paul, I can pause and replay sections of his Fingering guides to get me past a Barrier.. Like in Section Three.. !!!! THANKS AGAIN PAUL .. ( Andy in Ireland, a reborn Pianist aged 59 ) !!!!
Your channel is unique on RUclips Paul. I finally conquered my fear and started after-hours music school 2 weeks ago, I chose piano to be my instrument of choice. It's going to be immensely challenging to combine it with work and other responsibilities, but watching you play with passion is one of my biggest inspirations to keep on practicing and studying.
Wow. I apreciate this so profoundly Mr. Barton. Thank you so much. I started teaching myself the piano at 14 and have not played much the past 3 years (being 23 now) due to university. Before going overseas again and start working I will pass by home and learn this beautiful peace of Debussy's.
Thank You Sir! Not only You are the perfect piano player, but also the great story teller. However, I am absolutely astonished how dare could somebody press a dislike. If I could I'd press like 100 times! One more time, I'm really grateful for this lesson!
How could anyone give you any thumbs down? This was such an informative lesson and I look forward to learning from you. I need to learn this piece for a role...
Thanks a lot for making these videos! They were very helpful and it's very interesting learn about the history of the piece! I really wish you make more videos like this! I really appreciate it!
mr. barton, your videos are helping me become a better player. will you do a video playing the children's corner piece in totality. I just bought the book and am working through them all. would love to see and hear your full performance of those pieces. -Brian
I think that Riverie was something more for Debussy than just a commercial song, written in a hurry .Even something very important .But that's just my opinion
your piano sounds always better and better. Do you tune it by yourself ? If so how long does it take ? and do you want to make a video on it :-). wonderful series
wow, you know your debussy.. awesome videos BTW. I didn't know what to play next, been searching for days for something decent and for my level. and then I heard you playing griegs mountain king..problem solved :) anyway, keep up the good work! it really is appreciated
great little history Paul: I also performed it recently on my album PIANO CLASSICS FOR REFLECTION. CLAIR DE LUNE by CLAUDE DEBUSSY performed by JAMES SPENCER

great little history Paul: I also performed it recently on my album PIANO CLASSICS FOR REFLECTION. CLAIR DE LUNE by CLAUDE DEBUSSY performed by JAMES SPENCER
Debussy said "Anyone who calls me an impressionist is an imbecile."
still confused about the resonance position of the harmonic pedal, i'm afraid of pressing it to deep.
Happy Debussy birthday!
Awesome :D

How is Debussy pronounced?
Deb-you-see. Just blend the syllables together and emphasize the byou sound.
Maybe "the view sea" 😂
This guy reminds me of bricktop from snatch, talking about feeding people to pigs
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
test
Vangough was an expressionist lol
Post-impressionst. Before the expressionists.
