Do you negotiate on a regular? 🤔 Negotiation skills can start small, even just asking for an “extra shot of espresso” but eventually, you build yourself up to asking for a sign on bonus, double the equity or more vacation days to spend with your family.
Great video !!! For the longest time the topic of money was a very difficult for me to negotiate with people..specially family and friends.. Since the last 10 years that has changed and now I love negotiating !!! always want a win/win deal !!! Anyone can become an entrepreneur.. if one can handle the heat !!! Entrepreneurship is a 24/7/365... I think most people should choose another route to happiness..less stressful ..cause I have met or read about a lot of founders who their mental health is in the gutter... As you well said ... happiness.. is doing something that energize you instead of draining you...that one can't wait to wake up in the morning and be ready to work as many hours possible on that work/passion that makes one happy !!! thank you Kara for sharing this very well made informative video !!!
Your advice hits home for me. It’s so easy to focus on labels because everyone keeps talking about them. Shifting to thinking about the actual work itself has freed up my thinking a lot over the years.
You have shared great tips for choosing and advancing in one's career, Kara! I found your channel while scrolling through RUclips a few days ago and I must say I am lucky to have found your channel as I'm about to start my corporate career soon. Often, I find people mentioning that you should be happy to accept whatever you're offered in your very first job and I find it difficult to be okay with that statement. Somehow I find all of this related to self-worth and it's not often talked about. I am so glad to have found your channel at the right time in my career. From today onwards, I decide to Advocate for myself and make the most of my experience!
I totally agree that entrepreneurship isn't the only path to a happy successful life. In my opinion the best two options are either running your own business or working for a company that shares your vision and values and you actually love their products/services. For me now, the most important thing is that I get to make my own schedule and I have complete freedom over it. I can't imagine living without that.
Same! I sometimes wonder if I could go back to a company. I think it’s possible but (if I have negotiating room) I would need a lot of autonomy in both getting my work done and deciding what to work on/direction.
