I was thinking about a gravel bike but watching the vibration going through your forearms on that gnarly descent has changed my mind immediately .. back to a front sus mtb .. so thanks for making my decision easier 👍
You certainly have no suspension, so that's a good point. But gravel bikes have other advantages that MTB's don't have, they are much faster (on the right terrain)
Awesome video! Is this the ADV 8.9? Would you recommend the bike to someone who would be doing majority road riding on it with a small amount of trails/gravel? I have a hardtail for the rough stuff but I am looking at one of these to be my road bike that still allows me to go semi off road, and possibly even a long tour in the future.
When you start to feel "really" hungry its normally a sign that its too late! Little and often, and the right thing. it really does work!! Stopping for a big sandwich every few hours like a picnic ride with grand ma really aint good!
@@themuddycyclist why did I coment on this? Because of the fact it is an edited film of 10 or 15 minutes from a possible couple of hours riding, we only get "part" of the day. But I often hear the word 'tired' and ' hungry ' very often together! We are about the same age, and my rides tend to have only three or four 5 to 10 minutes stops in a 5 hour flat ride! Yes I do take some chocolate energy bars, or even a couple of snickers, but you are right a good wholesome sandwich, or even better would be some kind of tortilla wrap with some green and red salad and cheese or chicken etc! It's not as heavy and as thick as a sandwich, I usually take two such tortillas on my big rides and bananas! But I'm in Poland in the flat part, and I dont have the great views you have, so no need or desire to stop somewhere nice. For the last 10 days we have been under snow and - 14 to -7 is the constant temperature so there ain't no stopping just moving and constant eating! But I have found that in the past if I stopped for a big sandwich and a cake etc, I couldn't move after and felt really lethargic and just assumed it was because of the ride and the distance, but in fact it was neither, it was my food and how and when I ate it! My rule every time is good carb breakfast or lunch, then a few hours later start ride, and every hour 60 to 80 grams of carbohydrates, which means a good mouth full of tortilla, and a banana, and half a snickers and the energy never drops! Little and often is the secret, bananas are best! Ps. it does make me really laugh when I hear you UK RUclipsrs say "it's cold today" 😀🤣
@@abritandhisbikeinpoland6802 Thanks for the tips, I know you've picked me up on my feeling failures before. Will do better when I get back on the bike (recovering from Covid)
@@themuddycyclist get well soon. I'm recovering from a chronic illness too. Hopefully be out and about in the new year, I'll look out for you. I live in the Worthing area.
@@themuddycyclist no wonder you slip and get bashed about. I run panaracer gravel king sk 38s, tubeless at 30 psi! Probably ridden 1200 miles on them, they're pretty good all rounder, but can be an arse to keep inflated on some rims. The WTB range are also good. I rode trans Pennines coast to coast on WTB, in under a day. I'm hoping to get back out soon on my converted crosser soon. Hopefully see you around the downs link.

Lovely looking ride, recognised lots of it
Pleased you liked it, you can see my route on my Strava (in the description) if interested.
great ride can't wait to get back out on the pedals hopefully I'll find a bike big enough soon to get out again !!
Hope so too, have missed watching you disappear into the distance!
Lovely ride. I must check out that path from Rodmell to Lewes.
It's worth checking out, flat, bumpy but beautiful by the river.
That decent looked savage on a gravel bike.
Glad you got down without falling off 😆
Happy Christmas fella, keep up the great vids 👍😎
Thanks Darren, and to you 👍🎄

That’s pretty close to my set up, MTB for the rough stuff, ADV for road/gravel/off road but nothing too gnarly. Would recommend 👍
awesome vid pal got the same bike i love it.
Excellent, thanks Shaun 👍👍

😆, Grandma ride, that’s me all over! Point taken but I’m not keen on those sweet energy snacks. Tend to favour savoury & bigger!

Agreed. Like feeling thursty, it's too late. As the man says, little and often, keep healthy snacks in your jersey pockets.

Using those original tyres on that terrain must make you panic a bit, they are great for road but puncture easily.
That’s right, think you can detect my nervousness on that last descent 😬
Good to see you back on the trails P, back to full health now?
This was recorded pre Covid, not riding again yet ☹️
Nice route. Do you run tubeless? What pressures? They look as though they're pretty high?
Thanks, still using tubes on this bike. Been planning on going tubeless for about a year! Tyre pressure about 40.

Think I’m going to look at lowering my pressures 🤔
You still running those bloody useless stock tyres
😆, I’m lazy! Plus say it quietly, never had a puncture
