www.inautonews.com/honda-s2000-successor-gets-detailed-in-new-report#.VAlIM_ldW3k It's already been rumored to be in development. It seems like it's going to be a much different car though. Mid-engine, turbo+electric-motors, dual-clutch transmission... We'll see, I guess.
I legit watch every video of his just to see him turn on to the back roads and hammer it. I watched him drive ThatDudeinBlue mustang video about 10 times. haha Pure emotions. BEST
same here i watch all his videos like 1000+ times because they are soooooo good and really show the excitement and happiness that i would experience with such a car!
subaruwrxfan your welcome bro - keep up the good work and enjoy your new mustang - i wish you would get an s2000 or another brz but hey you made up your mind already!
I have a 2000 S2000 and now a 2011 Civic Si 4 Door. Both are not FAST cars, but both give you that sensation you are going fast. Call me a Honda nut but having high-revving little four-bangers is what fun on the street is all about. If I was all-out speed I'll just ride a motorcycle.
Lmao. I've owned my 02 s2000 for years, I had no idea about that extra compartment on top of the middle compartment @ 5:01. Jeez, this doubles my compartment space. Incredible!
On a brighter note man. You are one of the better test drivers Ive seen. Your love and passion for these cars come through very transparent in your words. And it makes me want it as much as you... Jeremy Clarkson, move over lol.
And it's practical-ish. With that depression in the trunk and those interior compartments I could move all the necessities I need in my Corolla S, especially if I remove the spare tire. A miata can't do that.
omglawton You msy be correct, I couldn't edit my other response. I don't know and didn't check what a 1990 Miata costs in comparison to say a 2000 S2000
ohd00bley omglawton The s2000 I am thinking about cost 35k new compared to 25k of a 3rd gen. But what he meant ohd00bley is that you can buy a 1st gen for like 2k. I will pay 13-14k so you could have 3 or 4 miatas easy.
Andrew L BRZs are slow and unreliable. Ask anyone who has one, or any new Subaru. Garbage. An S2000 is a Honda, which will last hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal problems
Deeken Wheeler Unfortunately yeah.. same goes for the new WRX/WRX STi (I know a few people who have the newer models, nothing but trouble even at low miles). I think the older Subies are more reliable but that's just based on what I'm hearing from Subaru owners
Get an Ap1. You can bore the block to 2.2 liters add some high compression forge piston and rods. Then you have the torque and still have the 9000 rpm glory. Get some cams while you are at it.
I've had my AP1 for just about 5 years. Drove it from NY to SoCal...perfect car for this part of the country. Anytime I consider selling it, I put the top down and I'm completely won over again. I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.
For what I need, I love it! Im 30, 5' 6" so I dont need much room, and I have no kids so the backseats are just rarely used for friends. Trunk is way bigger than the S and it's smoother and quieter so I really am happy with it. And the styling I like a lot more than the C class. Although I did buy it just to hold me over until the Model 3 from Tesla is out
subaruwrxfan Safety is over-rated! haha jk but honestly i understand. I had an ap1 for 1 week and i managed to spin it at an intersection... xD fortunately no one was around but i went with the frs instead. Suits me better!
wwshehan Everyone knows Rwd is more fun than Fwd. ;) Lol but if he wasn't in the situation he is right now, he'd be able to mod the Mini and it'd be a more fun car. Mini's sound amazing with an exhaust!
I am buying my S in a couple of weeks, and this review has me STOKED! Your excitement and joy driving this car says it all. Anyone on the fence about the Honda needs to see this video. Thank you, Matt!
They became worried about the stupid environment. Honda, even the Earth wants you to continue making sports cars, the other companies can worry about going green.
Yeah it got outdated by 2009, if they revised it to more modern standards then it would have sold much better. Plus people I guess wanted more "prestige" than a Honda for 35-40k
you really don't get enough credit, this is a awesome review man, my 5th time watching it.You do a good job keeping the viewer watching, keep up the great work.
Matt I would like to thank you for this review of this ap1 I watched the video a day after you posted it and since then my mind was set to get an s2000, for the past 6 months I was searching for the right one for me, I ended up finding a beautiful 1 owner 2003 s2000 with 30,000 miles original miles on it and I couldn't be happier! Best car I've own thus far! I appreciate all your vids! Thank you!
Dude, your review was the most engaging reviews i have ever seen. I guess you have talked about all aspects of this legendary car. Great review !! I am seriously thinking of getting one of these babies !!!
Love the new intro by the way this channels been improving alot within the past few weeks! Soon as I put money on my card I'll be sure to help you out with a generous donation! :)
What a great review Matt, you bring up really good points, unlike every other reviewer who keeps repeating the same thing and making the most blurry impressions, you set up the cars characteristics very well
I really love your review style because it's completely honest and you don't hold back the emotions of the experience. Watching you drive the car and being giddy like a school girl actually made me appreciate the car and the review more. Good job!
Matt, just found your video. You were cruising in my neighborhood! I just bought my S2000 about nine months ago, and love it. It's a 2002, with just over 26M miles, and immaculate condition.
You forgot one thing to mention and didn't see anyone mention in the comments below. The f20c engine in the Honda s2000 comes factory with forged internals. Forged springs, rods, pistons, rings. Many people have gotten well over 500hp with a turbo charger and a good clutch. There's one video with 700hp. Stock block. Just turbo, clutch, injectors, fuel pump, tune, brakes. Stock fucking block tho. I'm not a big Honda fan tho lol
Matt, I just started an account on RUclips to comment on your videos because I was car shopping recently and had to look at some cars that I was shopping for that you reviewed.. I'm SO SO entertained by your reviews. I love all the camera work, how you describe everything about the car, and your reaction when you take the car for a test drive. Thanks for the hardwork on all of your videos. I kept up on your vlogs about your BRZ and Mini. I know that somewhere in the future that you'll find another BRZ in your garage. You really deserve it. I'm glad the Mini makes you happy. I have a huge request and saw that you did a Focus ST review. I really hope you'll do a Fiesta ST. I ended up leaving the Ford dealership with a Ford Fiesta ST and I love it! I really want to hear your impressions on it.. seeing as you've never done that car before. It'd be cool if you can! Thanks Matt!
sounds like the s2000 should be your next car :) ...and then maybe pick up and old jeep for the winter lol. i hear these have some wicked oversteer issues
Haha I want something with a back seat and side airbags for a daily driver. Otherwise these are tempting since they're so cheap now. I could definitely afford one.
subaruwrxfan If you can afford it, keep the Mini as a daily driver and buy the S2000 as a pure summer fun car. That way you get the best of both worlds. Also if you only drive the S2000 a few thousand miles each year, it will keep maintenance and insurance costs low. BTW it's also the way I'm doing it with my Trans Am and Jetta Wagon. And thank you for the great and really emotional loaded review!
I live in Colorado at almost 10,000 feet above sea level and all I drive is z3 roadster with good snow tires. 99.99% of the time I have no issues. No need for any stinking suvs or offroads.
Both are great cars. My 15 Fiesta ST was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in a car and owning it was a pleasure. Unfortunately it met its match with a deer on a back road, and my next car is going to be an ap2 s2000. You really can't go wrong with either car. If you're scared of not liking the fwd of the ST forget about it because it drives so well you don't even mind. I took it to the mountains and autocross events very often.
I own a 2006 S2000 and a 2014 Fiesta ST. The S2000 will always be my #1, but the Fiesta ST is a very close second. If you need back seats, get the Fiesta...if not, hands down, BUY AN S2000.
NOFATCHICK1 lol they have over 250k miles on both their TLs do you really think that has effected them this far? shit i have on 08 civic si with 123k tranny is smooth so obviously these transmission issues dont affect all of them
Fantastic review Matt! It sure looks like you're having a blast with the top down and having vtec scream to 9k haha! I just bought the exact same car 2 months ago! I picked up a 2002 Berlina Black Honda S2000. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Such a great car and piece of engineering. My car only has 86,000 miles! and thanks for showing me this car with such high miles. It shows proof of Honda's reliability even on their sports cars. I know that I will still have fun for a long time in my S2K! ;)
If I knew it does anything I could hit "like" button a thousand times for the review and the car. That guy gets sooooo excited and it's so positive and the car is from my dreams.
Huss Ali Wow haha g35 owner here saying the same thing. I love my G coupes weight balance, handling, driver position, looks, performance, etc but a an s2k, man you feel like you're driving on rails.
Am i the only one that was fucking lost when trying to find the lever for the gas tank?!?!?! When i first bought mines i was stuck at the gas station for like an hour and had to google it.
Some people get sore throats from talking a lot. Matt gets sore hands - lol! Just messin' with ya, dude :D Love to see the passion you have for cars - keep it up!
i drive barefoot but only if I'm driving serious. Its hard to do good footwork when your wearing basketball shoes or anything other than driving/racing shoes.
This is my dream car and can't wait to buy it asap. I really like ur review and this is the closest one that can show me how this car works, performs and gets the emotion out of a human being. THANK YOU !
Can we all agree that Honda needs to bring back the S2000?
Ivan Pineiro Yes!
Rumors from Honda employees were that the S3000 (same body, V6 dropped in) was basically done and waiting on production light, economy popped.
Fuck yes

Rx-7/8, Nissan Silvia, S2000, Supra, and such
This is my third time watching this review straight. It's that good.

lol...

8th gen Si's handle quite well.
Lmao. I've owned my 02 s2000 for years, I had no idea about that extra compartment on top of the middle compartment @ 5:01. Jeez, this doubles my compartment space. Incredible!
+sentdex same thing happened to me man, I was keeping my insurance/registration under the seat until I saw this review haha
Don't feel bad. Took me a year to find mine. Finally found my owner's manual!
Pro tip: watch series at kaldroStream. I've been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Lewis Frank Definitely, been using KaldroStream for since november myself :)
@Lewis Frank yup, have been watching on kaldrostream for since november myself :)
Honda PLEASE watch this review. This is what we the people want.
Lemuel Taylor Hell yes❗
HELL YASSSSS!
Damn right
my sentiments exactly!! bring more manuals back and get rid of those boring CVTs lol
do u own a s2000
On a brighter note man. You are one of the better test drivers Ive seen. Your love and passion for these cars come through very transparent in your words. And it makes me want it as much as you... Jeremy Clarkson, move over lol.
Today is the day, I am officially an owner of a 2002 silver S2000. Super clean car from Honda.
Congrats dude!
Congrats! I too am now officially the owner of an S2K - a like-new 2003 as of last week. What a joy, what a PRIVILEGE to own and drive one of these!
@@BobC59 how much did you get it for?
@@SIIKAP1 I haven't sold it!
@@BobC59 no I meant how much did you buy it for? And how many miles when you got it
This video has been a big part of me deciding to buy a S2000. Saving the pennies. Love your vids. Keep it up.
I want an S2000 now...it does everything a Miata does, but better.
its a man's miata
And it's practical-ish. With that depression in the trunk and those interior compartments I could move all the necessities I need in my Corolla S, especially if I remove the spare tire.
A miata can't do that.
The s2000 literally cost 5x the amount of a first gen miata. Pretty dumb comparison.
omglawton You msy be correct, I couldn't edit my other response. I don't know and didn't check what a 1990 Miata costs in comparison to say a 2000 S2000

Honda should bring back the s2000 to compete with the brz. It would be cool to see imported manufacturers competing with rwd sportscars!
Todd Rich what if it bites the ear of of the brz like mike tyson?
Andrew L BRZs are slow and unreliable. Ask anyone who has one, or any new Subaru. Garbage. An S2000 is a Honda, which will last hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal problems

I just got home from class, went on youtube, and watched your video. Now I feel like going back out, top down and going on a drive right now.
s2000 fits you bro, seems like a perfect match.

+Rebel Yoot Yeah dude I actually bought a Mercedes CLA since I wrote that but I still kept the S2000 :) not going anywhere
Yes! Hows the CLA? I've heard mixed reviews

you should review the Toyota MR2 Spyder, the one from 2000-2005
Agreed. Also a Corolla XRS (2005-2006).
AirsoftWarfareHD I'd like to! They're pretty rare around here though!
subaruwrxfan Not here in washington state, they go for really cheap too
subaruwrxfan you should do dodge charger srt8 if you can.
Cod Ghost an mazda rx7 would be nice to if you find one.
Own a 2004 AP2 and all I can say is once you drive this car nothing else compares. An amazing car and it puts a smile on my face every time.
Matt you should make a shirt that says "lets see about that power again, shall we"
'
please honda. please we want another please
I think they have plans for a concept and made the drawings but nothing official yet
I hope they don't, nothing can replace the s2000.
seeing the happiness in this video, makes me wonder why you got the mini. lol but nonetheless, awesome review !
Haha thanks. I like having some kind of back seat in my personal car, along with side airbags. The S2k has neither unfortunately :/
subaruwrxfan no prob man lol, that's understandable. we just wanna see you happy. and in this video, shows what we haven't seen in a long long time.

close your eyes and its micheal cera doing reviews
Lmao
I love you're enthusiasm while driving. Great review. You make me want to buy a s2000 now.
Dear Honda,
Why did you stop production?
Sincerely, Joe
They became worried about the stupid environment. Honda, even the Earth wants you to continue making sports cars, the other companies can worry about going green.
Honda Pilot, Ridgeline? The s2000 is an econo-box in the general scheme of things.
By 2009, the s2000 was a slow-selling, 10-year old model.
The recession didn't help either.
Nope.
Yeah it got outdated by 2009, if they revised it to more modern standards then it would have sold much better. Plus people I guess wanted more "prestige" than a Honda for 35-40k
My buddy let me drive his AP1 and it instantly made me realize why these cars were so popular. It is an absolute blast to drive!
lmao your face at 9:24 haha It cooks man i mean it COOKS lmao

Ever since my friend let me drive his Honda S2000 I fell in love with this over enginered marvel of a car. Best automobile I've ever driven.
Have you thought about reviewing an RX-8 if you could get your hands on one? Would be cool to see what you think about that and it's high revs.
SteveOTheMan16 I'd like to if I can find one.
Rob dahm lol
I currently own one, but I live in Australia. If I live in the US i will let him borrow it for the review.
Yea it would be nice to see him review an RX8 and compare it to the BRZ and S2000. :)
No. Just no. The RX8 is a bitch car.

Thank you! I appreciate that a lot! It helps more than you know!
What a great review Matt, you bring up really good points, unlike every other reviewer who keeps repeating the same thing and making the most blurry impressions, you set up the cars characteristics very well
did anyone spot Matt's Mini Cooper behind him before his acceleration lol
I really love your review style because it's completely honest and you don't hold back the emotions of the experience. Watching you drive the car and being giddy like a school girl actually made me appreciate the car and the review more. Good job!
disclaimer: it's not actually bulletproof
Glosama Bin Laden haha, he meant bulletproof, did you by any chance use a tankshell?
Matt, just found your video. You were cruising in my neighborhood! I just bought my S2000 about nine months ago, and love it. It's a 2002, with just over 26M miles, and immaculate condition.

whats wrong with that
Jesse Lung but this fool is running a Honda 2000
Ryan Cowtan lol
This review just made me go out for a drive in my S2000, ive had the thing for 5 years and it still puts a smile on my face to this day!

There's one video with 700hp. Stock block. Just turbo, clutch, injectors, fuel pump, tune, brakes. Stock fucking block tho.
I'm not a big Honda fan tho lol
"The Si is fun, but its a civic"- my absolute favorite quote by you so far
is a 2001 with 156k miles for $4000 a good buy?
Michael Bruns yes
Michael Bruns he'll yeah!!
Michael Bruns that is stupid cheap honestly, something must be wrong. Engines+transmission together can go for that price
yeah something isn't right there. Maybe a salvage/rebuilt title.
Michael Bruns look at the car fax
This review was one of the deciding factors for me to buy an S2K, AP1. And I gotta say, I love this car. Thank you!
13:12 Matt did traction control just save your life?
The s2000 doesn't have traction control
No traction control in AP1 S2K IIRC
Well got damn... Matt dat skill bro. Well done.
Indeed! Great job Matt!
Jcars6842 So only the 06 got TC, pretty interesting did not know that. Really is a pure drivers car.

Hey Matt, is there a possibility to do a review on the volvo c30? I think you will have a ton of fun with that car too
Pat Dow I'd like to review one if I find it. I drove one around for a day a long time ago and really liked it though! Just wish they came in manual.
They do have them in a manual! So your wish was granted
MakerOfAwesome the C30 is faster than the BRZ
Pat Dow everything is faster than a brz
As an 04 s2000 owner myself, as well as producing videos just like yours, it's clear.. the enjoyment of the S2000 is like no other! :)
Drive safe!
sounds like the s2000 should be your next car :)

This is the best review I've ever seen period. Best review you've done Matt. I am now even more motivated to save for an ap2
Too soon Jr...
You need to get an s2000, I've never seen you so excited and ballsy in a review!!!!
Review an e36 m3!
Agreed
Do they even still run?
Love the energy you bring to your reviews. Also appreciate that you did your homework on the cars you review.
can I ask an opinion, this or a 15 fiesta st?
Both are great cars. My 15 Fiesta ST was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had in a car and owning it was a pleasure. Unfortunately it met its match with a deer on a back road, and my next car is going to be an ap2 s2000. You really can't go wrong with either car. If you're scared of not liking the fwd of the ST forget about it because it drives so well you don't even mind. I took it to the mountains and autocross events very often.
Bryan Davis thanks for the reply. its more the concern of being able to daily an s2k in a cold place thats only nice in the summer
I own a 2006 S2000 and a 2014 Fiesta ST. The S2000 will always be my #1, but the Fiesta ST is a very close second. If you need back seats, get the Fiesta...if not, hands down, BUY AN S2000.
+Matthew Serra I can agree with this. I did in fact pick up an ap2 a few weeks ago, and have been absolutely loving it.
This has to be your most entertaining review hands down!! Clearly you love Vtec!
The level of enthusiasm is OVER 9000!!!! Haha get it? cause 9000 R.P.M redline...

I have to own one of these. Who thinks it still looks better than the new 2016 miata ?
Fantastic review Matt! It sure looks like you're having a blast with the top down and having vtec scream to 9k haha! I just bought the exact same car 2 months ago! I picked up a 2002 Berlina Black Honda S2000. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made! Such a great car and piece of engineering. My car only has 86,000 miles! and thanks for showing me this car with such high miles. It shows proof of Honda's reliability even on their sports cars. I know that I will still have fun for a long time in my S2K! ;)
Now Please review a Honda Prelude 1997-2001
If I knew it does anything I could hit "like" button a thousand times for the review and the car. That guy gets sooooo excited and it's so positive and the car is from my dreams.
love my s2k just picked it up 3 days go 9k rpm all day bout to get off work and get hit in the face by vtec
One of your better put together intros, love it.
The S2K I do love em. But I feel they don't love 6ft drivers.
super late but im 6ft 1in and i fit fine with the seat as far back as it goes.
Your best review yet, loved this!
Fuck... Why didn't I get one of these?
same Lol
Huss Ali Its basically the only convertible I would own =O
I would trade my g35 for one that's the only car I would let it go for but I live in snow town so I am really screwed :(
Huss Ali Wow haha g35 owner here saying the same thing. I love my G coupes weight balance, handling, driver position, looks, performance, etc but a an s2k, man you feel like you're driving on rails.
If I ever more somewhere else(warmer) first thing Is to trade my g35 for a s2000...I drove a couple of them, they are amazing.
There's the VTEC....6k ..... AAAAALLLL THE WAAAAAYYYY UPPP TO NINE!!!!! 13:17 WHHOOOO!!!!
That feel... that's what i like about Honda.
Now do an AP2 review :)
You always have the best intros and intro music!
Am i the only one that was fucking lost when trying to find the lever for the gas tank?!?!?! When i first bought mines i was stuck at the gas station for like an hour and had to google it.
LMFAO
It took you an hour to Google it?
i was searching the car for like a good 15 minutes before eventually giving up and googling it. I was over exaggerating on my original post.
And where was it?
itsToon lol when I got my Miata it took me awhile to figure out the trunk and gas cap release where in the center console so I feel you
Some people get sore throats from talking a lot. Matt gets sore hands - lol!
Just messin' with ya, dude :D Love to see the passion you have for cars - keep it up!
Before it's time
Great review, as usual! I really like your honest and insanely enthousiastic way of reviewing. Good job!
11:01 is my nigga driving this thing barefoot?
+Too Soon Junior driving hard with no shoes feels great, theres a reason racing shoes are super thin
i drive barefoot but only if I'm driving serious. Its hard to do good footwork when your wearing basketball shoes or anything other than driving/racing shoes.
...best of both worlds, if they still make 'em: Vibram Five Fingers, IMO the best driving shoes ever.
This is my dream car and can't wait to buy it asap. I really like ur review and this is the closest one that can show me how this car works, performs and gets the emotion out of a human being. THANK YOU !
nothing that can match an open air feeling of a convertible? motorcycles my friend, motorcycles
Love my S2000. And loved your review !
Huh I guess I owe an apology to all the Honda fan boys.
That is one of the most beat up s2000 I have seen, and yet still gets good reviews.
I really want this car but it is too overpriced here. It cost almost as much as a brand new 86 wtf.
Neatknit its gonna keep going up so you should get it! I'm thinking about getting one !
where abouts do you live? sounds like australia
But in 5 years it'll be worth way more than an 86
rewatching this review reminded me of why i subscribed
