Paul Poulin Something neat: Dislikes are actually helpful in a way because they make the video 'controversial' and it widens the range of people who see it.
People keep dissing the percussion pop, but it is a style, and he has incredible flow with it. And also, every musician takes a little of every other sound they have heard to make a new sound. That is the art of music, an unsung collaboration of those that inspired you. Just fu#king enjoy it for what it is, great music by a great guitarist. And YES Totos Africa was epic.
saw Andy in Sydney Australia (the basement) it was magical, Rylynn still gives me goosebumps, the song was born in deep sorrow (the death of a friends little daughter -i think) now her memory lives on & that sadness is behind Andy (i think) Paul
Had the pleasure of seeing him play in the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall (Jacksonville, FL). I'm 17 and I considered myself a pretty decent guitarist until I saw him and I felt like an infant with a guitar in my hands. Every song he's written/transcribed is a masterpiece and he's such a chill guy. I got him to autograph a CD and a poster for me. Definitely the best concert I've ever been to.
I'm convinced that Drifting is one of the best songs ever written. Such a talent and if I wasn't more strong minded I would case my guitar forever. I will never be as good as this guy but the gift of music is so great that we forge ahead, right?!!
Right? How does someone put so much emotion into musical notes, I'll never understand. If I had 1/1000th of his ability to do that I would never stop writing music
it just puts me in such a good mood witnessing over a million views on this video. Sometimes there's truth in this world, not only lemonades and the likes...
🤩🤩🤩 The incredible talent of Andy McKee who by the mastery of his art, sublimates that of the equally talented guitar-maker Michael Greenfield and his one-of-a-kind, handcraft bespoke guitars, including Andy's famous harp-guitar, which can be heard on his track "Into the ocean", it gives this magical moment!✨✨✨
How could anyone dislike this man. You play two guitar licks and then bass notes too and if you still feel that way then ok but won't and you can't . Chumps!
Im been tryin to learn guitar i know no notes so i been a pickin and a strummin like you But it didnt seem right. .ha then God showed me you ..amazing Andy so love your writing. And would buy a cd to relax to ..after a good cry . I lost my dad recently to Leukemia ..a disease rare called Pure Red Cell Plazia Basicly Leukemia or im told a form of Leukemia .
play it often, if you give it a few years of intimacy you'll develop your own touch and sound quite well. it's about intimacy over time i think if you want sound like his. intimacy = focus for at least an hour straight. once you get comfortable playing guitar and you can play by ear decently i would recommend going out to find yourself a nice guitar that becomes your own and learn to take care of it. i wanna pick up an instrument once i settle down in my own house somewhere
I love watching him perform as much as I love listening to his music. He gets so into his songs and you can tell the passion and attention he puts into every note. How great to have such a love for what you do.
This is by far the best guitarist I have ever seen play with total mastery of his instrument! Makes me feel all kinds of emotions and dare I say tear up a little because it is so beautiful. I may never be that good at guitar in my lifetime. Only Andy can really play with that unmistakable feel and groove! Amazing!
1 instrument, yet it sound like there is whole orchestra playing. You my friend, are rare, pure talent which one can ONLY be born with. I have been listening to you for days now and i can't get enough. Thank you so much....
lol born with? ask him how much practice he's done and compare that to how much you have. don't blame it on genetics and put his diligence in a trash can
@@whotookjimirocket I totally agree, pure dedication to his craft. No one is born with the skill of being a good guitar player. practice, practice, and then practice some more.
yes you are absolutly right. i learned drifting 3 years ago, now i wanted to learn hunters moon, it crushed my brain! there are happening way too many things at the same time... and so fast!
Thanks Andy for the many many many hours of practice youve put in over the years! Its a wonderful thing for me to be able to sit here and watch and listen to your hard work!
Yes, Rylynn is one of my favorites too.... Many guitar player could learn and play his songs but Andy McKee plays it right from the heart... Just great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't believe 69 people disliked this. There is something seriously wrong with a person if they can't appreciate the pure talent and musicianship this guy possesses.
GRANDIOSO!!!!!!! No me canso de verlo!!!!!!(ya van........25 veces........) hablidad sobrehumana con las manos, sensacional ejemplo de sentido del compas y la sensacion de escuchar algo asi..................................como magico. Maravilloso.
Andy, you're awesome. There's are a lot of flashy percussive effects. But there is also a level of deeper musicality that transcends all that. So the music gets richer the more often I listen to it. Keep it on!
Solo steel string playing has really evolved! There have been unusual techniques springing up for years. Now that there are so many people doing it, composition and arranging has caught up with the technical wow factor. Andy is playing at an extremely high level of musicianship. His rhythmic groove is rock solid. He's a great player and arranger, great dynamics, the whole enchilada! I enjoyed the covers, and especially his own poignant tune at 24:22
Andy is a unique soul. You know him through the music he plays so beautifully. There are many greats & Andy is one of them. You are blessed Andy & we are blessed to know you.
oooooooooooooooooooooooh!!!! So happy to hear that "drifting" song so many years after I first heard it! Absolutly love this :3 Nice to see something more recent than what's on his vevo channel :D
Damn!! He choosed to play all my favorite songs from him in one show :O..... Seriously, I truly hope that Andy will keep getting bigger and bigger in the business....He have everything that a great artiste need to have!! Love you Andy Mckee!!
this is not playing. this is dancing with a guitar.
amazing.
No Ebon coast ?! :(((
Agreed. Sometimes it almost looks like he's aiming a gun or something. It's simultaneously an art and a game of precision.
I just found this guy yesterday. He’s got the finger picking down wow!!!!!!
When I say finger picking, the thumb actually makes it sound that way.
god damn. thank you andy mckee for existing
78 thumbs down.....hard to imagine how well THEY play!!! Andy!!! Thank you!!!!!!

+alexander reese what a great argument lol
Eric Lalonde
I didn't really think he was spitting on them, I thought it was just a joke to be honest
All these years later and it still blows me away, this NOT normal man! Tremendous!
People keep dissing the percussion pop, but it is a style, and he has incredible flow with it. And also, every musician takes a little of every other sound they have heard to make a new sound. I agree. It is what it is. His musicality is undeniable.
"an unsung collaboration of those that inspired you"
You are owed a medal for this sentence
Haha, thanks. These guys are so good. Check out Calum Graham, young and super talented.

I love watching him play, he has awesome guitar-face.

He is TOTALLY like that..
I can feel Andy's hands are tired already when he's playing the third song Africa...
Thats where the mastery comes out....
Great job Andy....

andy"s playing is a feast for the senses.
The end of Rylynn always makes me cry, all these years later.
Right? How does someone put so much emotion into musical notes, I'll never understand. If I had 1/1000th of his ability to do that I would never stop writing music

I love how "Common Ground" is the only tune that has a regular drop-d tuning and a conventional arpeggio technique. That title has a reason. :)
