    The thing about these three Predators, they were teenagers. And it shows. The first that died(Chopper) didn't focus on the Xenomorphs. The second, Celtic, died because he was arrogant.

      Coming to Earth to kill aliens was a test for them to move up in rank, I think. Mary was asking "why the fire and lightning?", because the alien queen was frozen and had to be thawed to lay eggs for their test. The humans were in the way, took their weapons, etc.

    • @gekidoslair
      @gekidoslair 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep the predator captured the queen, set up a "trial" planet with challengers (humans) for their youth to prove themselves.
      It's the equivalent of going walkabout 😂
      The "game" is triggered when the challengers (humans) pickup the predator weapons that are seeded in the temple - which also starts the factory line, defrosts the queen and sets the whole thing in action

    Weyland's last ditch, from the Predator's point of view, I think WAS a win. Not at killing the Predator, but at showing that he's worth killing. Scanning his health, he was first abandoned as a dishonorable kill, worthless creature who's lived such an unchallenged life that he's here, old and weak, body dying of AGING. So many people criticize this movie, particularly citing its attempt to reach a larger audience by editing to a PG-13 rating as a liability. This movie actually was decent. Especially in light of Alien Vs. Predator 2, which was *dreadful.*
      What's still baffling to me is that when the first AvP came out, the folks at Ain't It Cool News (the most popular "movie geek" site at the time) hated it. They complained that it was "too kiddy." So then AvP 2 came out - and despite it being just garbage, I remember everyone was happy with it. It was Rated-R, thus making it "mature." The biggest thing to realize with the end credit scene of the baby alien coming out of the predator is that if you look closely, it has the predator mandibles. Facehuggers implant the alien embryo that uses the host DNA to complete itself and adapt. So aliens look different depending on the species of host. A alien/predator hybrid is a far more powerful thing than the alien/human variety.
    In Alien 3 there is an alien who gestated in a dog (or cow depending on the cut you watch), the resulting adult alien was far more a four-legged creature with other advantages. This way the alien species can adapt to any environment because presumedly the host present there can live there and by taking some of their DNA, now the alien can.
    Also Invisibility means very little to the aliens, they don't have eyes anyways. They "see" by sensing pheromones.

    Predator 2 was fun as well. There is another AVP movie, called AVP: Requiem. Mary tried too hard to be badass. Ripley grew into badass. She was a strong personality, not an action figure.

    The physical attributes of a xenomorph depends on what host-species they hatch from, as the embryo absorbs genetic information during development. The ones we're all used to hatched from humans, but a xeno hatched from a predator will inherent the mandibles, dreadlocks(because they're sensory organs that enhance their vibrational detection) and superior strength. Then there's the xeno from Alien 3 that hatched from a dog which gave it a cuadrupedal stance and really fast running speed. There's even a fan-designed xenomorph that hatched from a Tyrannosaurus, and the result is as terrifying as you can imagine.

    Weylands wasn’t a threat. Until he was. 😂 also don’t know if you noticed it or if anyone let ya know, weyland is played by the same actor who plays the android bishop from the alien series. He’s sort of the reason we have androids to begin with in this series. Of Ridley Scott’s alien universe continuation that is.

    Yeah, this movie gets dumped on a lot, but I've honestly always liked it.
    Xenomorphs primarily rely on Scent to locate prey, so the predator invisibility is kinda worthless against them.
    In Alien Isolation the Xenomorphs were both Buffed and Nerfed, Buffed in the sense that they're literally invincible no matter what weapons are used against them, even being set on fire only scares them away, but Nerfed in the sense they can only locate prey through sight and sound.

    This movie actually held together well, yes it had a slow start, and yes it could have been better in many ways, but it didn't suck. :) It had moments.
    And remember this "staged hunt" was a right of passage, so these were... young predators.
    There was also a short lived "fan theory" that since this was set in 2004 that the ship with the dead predator and hatching xenomorph was actually the same ship Ripley and team found. That seems unlikely as the look nothing alike but it was a brief tie in between the series.

    • @StalKalle
      @StalKalle 2 года назад

      Also, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem shows what happens to that ship.

    • @donge9589
      @donge9589 2 года назад

      It's not the same ship the nostromo found on lv426, that was an "engineer's" ship, the giant's from Prometheus/alien covenant. They actually find the engineer pilot still in his chair with his ribs busted from birthing a xeno. This ship is clearly a predator ship at the end of this film and I don't know of any connection between the predators and engineers yet that's been made from any of the film's at least.

    "she's too grumpy" - she is on a rush job, with cut corners, being forced to take untrained individuals she's never met, on a deadly ice journey where she has to have full faith they will keep their head and stay calm or everyone could die. Everyone is ignoring her rules and safety tips. Waylon is basically saying fuck you, make it happen.
    "don't understand why there is lightning" - The alien queen is locked away in this temple because it is a challenge ground. She is hooked up to a "breeding machine" and she is being shocked into giving birth against her will to create xenomorphs for the predators to hunt.

    The Yautja (Predators) capture Xenomorph queens to breed them. They call them Kiande Amedha which in predator language translates to "Hard Meat". The xenomorphs are consider the top prize and this catacomb is essentially a trial ground for those who want the ultimate hunt.
    In addition to their advanced weapons and tech, the Yautja can live for thousands of years. They've had centuries to hone their skills.
    Also their blood is supposed to have longevity properties that allow humans to live longer so when he marks Alexa's cheek with his blood he's actually giving her the gift of long life which and basically making Alexa part of his tribe which is rare when human's are generally prey. Their blood is known to neutralize the xenomorph's acid blood too which is why it can burn through the hull of a ship but not burn through the predator as easily.
