I know it's been a year or more posted but wondering how you are doing? My son is 17 with an over 90 degree bend with Schuerminns kyphosis/scoliosis. I took him to a Shriners hospital here in South Carolina. Was given a few months therapy and basically a brush off from doctors who basically said...Deal with it you're almost full grown and studies show...blah blah blah. Treated pretty badly in my opinion. I'm now taking him to a biophysical chiropractor. Very slight improvement in curve with him also doing exercise . He is getting some pain relief as well. He is terrified of spinal fusion as well as failed back surgery, more pain, and limited mobility afterwards. Also, here where I live there are No support groups. There is a facebook SK but inactive a lot. Is there any way he can talk to you?

I am sorry to hear the Doctors have not acknowledged his condition or given him different options for treatment. Clay and I will be in touch soon (he is finishing up finals) maybe we both could help give you all some support! Hang in there..~ Jane Miller

Hi Kristin, I'm so sorry to hear that you and your son are having a hard time. Have you gotten any more help or support since posting your comment? I had my spine fused for scheuermann's over ten years ago, so if I can answer any questions I would be happy to.

      How are you know?
      How bad was your kyphosis?
Did the surgery correct it successfully?
How many levels did you have fused?
Were you in pain before surgery?
      Are you in pain now?
      How was your mobility affected?
Do you think it was the right choice to get the surgery?
How old were you when you got it?

    Hello Clay,
Sorry I didn't get back to you..life. Thanks for asking about Shane. I was going to private message you, looked up how and it didn't work so I guessed you opted out of that or I just didn't do it right. I've been taking him to an abc chiropractor. He has shown slight improvement and more importantly gets pain relief. He doesn't have any other issues like finding it hard to breath. It's surprising since his curve was almost a 90 it's roughly 75 now and we know it's still grounds for surgery but he is terrified of the surgery itself and back surgery failure as well as mobility issues after. Get back to me when you can. Hope all is going well.
