- In this video we finish removing the old bearings and seals out of the diff. Then we clean up all the parts and start reassembling the rear end back together. In the rear end I end up using marine grease instead of gear oil. After the rear end was put back together, I installed it in the ltz250.
Would like to have seen more of the quads rear-end getting finished with that right side
Other than that I like the video man continue on I have a 2004 Suzuki LTZ 250 and I'm trying to fix myself
Grease? Supposed to have oil in it. I got a couple vids showing how I JB Weld the axle into the ring gear, for those that strip out
I know it's supposed to be oil, but I wanted to try the grease and see how it worked.
@@scrgarage1530 so far so good?
@@JohnVHLife yep so far so good. Got roughly 50 miles on it now and everything sounds good and the diff stays cool enough to place a hand on it.
So does the pinion gear have to be pulled out with a puller?
Got mine out and looking at replacing the pinion gear also.
I was able to get mine out without a puller. I used a few tire spoons and worked it until it came out. Wasn't to bad.
How did you press the seals in? Did you use a socket or the rubber hammer to get them in and how did you get the old bearings out? Thank you
I tapped the seals in with a socket of size and a hammer. And I used a press to get a few of the bearings out and a punch and hammer for the others
@@scrgarage1530 ok thank you I appreciate it man you have a great day what would cause differential oil to leak out of my brake drum on my ltz250 I changed the seals and bearings a couple years ago and it recently started which seal would cause that?
Thank you and you too. If you are getting differential oil leaking out of your brake drum, I would have to say the oil seal on the right side of the diff is letting oil to pass by. Oil seal 45x55x7
@@scrgarage1530 do you think it could be the inner seal between the two bearings on the left side causing the leak or the one on the right sight where the 4 bolt tube bolts up thank you
If you are getting oil in the drum brake. I would say the seal on the 4 bolt side is the one leaking and allowing the oil to pass through the axle tube into the drum brake.
How did you get the pinion gear out?
this is why i came here, the pinion seal is leaking on mine.
you will cook that diff with that grease 100%
Update, diff is still doing well. She doesn't ride it all the time and when she does, she doesn't ride it very hard.
did you buy the bearings and seals individually or was it a kit(part number)? im trying to do the same thing right now. Thanks.
I bought them as a kit and bought them from ebay. This is the part# all balls racing 25-2048. Hope this will help you.
@@scrgarage1530 thanks I'll check them out.
One more thing, you know what size the nut was that you made the removal tool out of?
@@jasonschrader3115 Outside dimension is 1 3/4 inch.
How is the grease in the diff working out for u????
It's working pretty good so far.
Whats the part # for the final oil seal you put in before bolting the housing back together
The oil seal # is 27406-05GB0 OIL SEAL (45X55X7)
You are holding it at 13:13. I cannot find that anywhere on the prints. I am losing oil into my assembly tube and into my brakes. I replaced the seal behind that
@mattthewmayernick Supersedes: 27406-05GG0 (OIL SEAL (30X62X7)) is the part # I found for it. Hope this helps you out.
Thank you so much!
@@mattthewmayernick yep no problem!
Was your rear differential really tight after the rebuild? after I rebuilt mine it was hard to turn by hand after fully assembled!!
Yes mine was alittle hard to turn by hand after I had fully assembled it.
@@scrgarage1530 also mine is making a slight clicking like sound when spinning the axle it seems smooth no binding or anything is that normal you think thank you!
Do you have it dry, or do you have oil or grease in it? And how loud is it?
@@scrgarage1530 yeah I filled it up to the correct level until it started running out and I even put some grease also on the pinion and bigger gear and it’s not loud at all you can’t hear it when riding but if you jack up the fourwheeler and spin the wheels it’s just a slight clicking sound I’m just kind of worried about it do they suppose to be completely quiet when you spin the wheels?
I would like to send you a video if possible and let you hear it seems really smooth when spinning
I'd like to see if you can find me a buyer
How did you remove the dust over on the pinion? Thank you
And what tool did you use to get the pinion bearing retainer out? It’s a star spline that the Suzuki manual says requires a special tool. I can’t get mine loose to remove the pinion. You show a tool in the reassembly where you use a pair of channel locks to tighten that bearing retainer but down. Where did you get that special outer splined socket???
Total skip over of the pinion section, not even questions answered in comment section. This video was a waste of time
What size nut did you use for the tool do you remember?
Yep, outside to outside the nut measured 1 3/4 inches
Thanks that's a big help doing the rear end in my sons this week
@@chevyii6457 good luck man and hope it goes good for you.
