  • This film made by the London Borough of Bromley shows the damage caused around the Borough by the great storm which hit the South East in the early hours of 16 October 1987, and the work undertaken by the Council to address the damage.

The film shows scenes from around the borough including scenes shot from the air with a voice over commentary. Areas specifically featured are: the National Trust owned woodlands in Petts Wood; Biggin Hill Youth Club where three trees fell through the roof; Westerham Road, Keston where trees had to be cleared from the road; and an avenue in Orpington where all the cars and vans on the road were crushed by the fallen beech trees. Cllr Barkway the leader of the Council makes comments about the damage and the approach the Council is taking to rebuilding and restoration. The film ends with a rolling text with fact and figures accompanied by the sound of wind.
