    From Season 2, Episode 6 "Bali Ha'i"
    Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

    People keep saying this is an unrealistic result. What they all seem to forget is that if Hector just kills Mike to show he's a tough guy, Tuco sits in jail probably for the rest of eternity. The reason this negotiation was happening at all is that Hector needs Mike, as he is in a unique position to get to go out sooner. If he didn't need him, he would have killed him instead of even speaking to him once at the coffee shop.

      The $50,000 price is the realistic one for taking a false wrap. Nobody going to take false wrap for 5 grand. Hector was hoping Mike was only going to go to 10 or 20. But really even a 100k for a false wrap is realistic. Hector is basically employing him to go to jail, thats about 10k a month for Mike...

      Don't you mean "actor" singular. Pay attention to the title, there is a story behind it. Bob Odenkirk is such a great actor and a superhuman, he was going around at 20 times the speed of light, changing costumes and make up to play every single character in this scene all by himself. Vince usually wants everything to be as real as possible and he was shocked when the team explained it to him that Bob Odenkirk produced this scene singlehandedly using his superhuman powers (including the technical work behind the scenes) he decided to keep it in the final cut untouched. Our mortal eyes can not detect the capabilities of Bob Odenkirk.

If they kill Mike, they bring more heat for a witness who fought their nephew all of a sudden disappearing (who knows if he has a cell phone or other things to track him either). Hector only leverage was intimidation of violence towards Mike's family, which most likely worked in 99% of cases. Being Mike didn't back down, Hector had no choice but to give in.

    Love Mike's face at the end. Even though he's getting paid, and even though he lives the lifestyle that he lives... Letting a piece of trash like Tuco off the hook annoys him.

    Superb series and a superb scene. But - I can't understand why Hector was happy to let Mike come negotiate with him, armed with a pistol. It just gives Mike an element of power he didn't need to. Didn't seem very realistic for Hector to give Mike a card to play like that, which he did.

    • @sams-hx7hm
      @sams-hx7hm Год назад +6

      Both Mike and Hector made a giant bluff play. Hector threatened to have Mike's granddaughter killed to see if Mike could be easily blackmailed, while Mike threatened to start a shootout immediately after Hector's threat. Neither would realistically go through with it since Hector needs Mike alive, and Mike knows that.

      the gun didnt make any difference. hector absolutely needed mike to reduce tucos sentence to a couple of years. so he couldnt allow his men or his nephews to whack mike, no matter what. hector was testing mikes nerve to see what he could get away with fobbing him off with. if he could scare mike into agreeing with his demands without paying him that would have been a win win for him. but he knew mike was very dangerous and more so due to his grand daughter being threatened, and even without a gun mike would probably have got to him and killed him with his bare hands if need be. that might explain it. having the gun actually kept things civil and clean believe or not.
