    In this one I show you how I Installed my $50 electric turbo on a 125cc X7 pocket bike, Then we add nitrous to everything. We get to do top speed runs and try out the turbo on this bike for the very time! The turbo is cheap and china made rated for 125cc engines. The N2o kit I used in this is also $50 and uses small cartridges that are shot into the carb for maximum power.
    Thanks for stopping by my channel!

    The extra power comes from extra fuel, not from extra air. The extra oxygen from nitrous or forced induction allows you to add more fuel and thus make more power.
    The reason the nitrous worked somewhat and the blower didn't was due to the fact if you created any pressure inside the Venturi of the carburetor you likely prevented much (if any fuel) from being allowed to be pulled out of the fuel bowl (through the metering jets). In order for you to see the supercharger to work you would have to make sure both the Venturi of the carb and the fuel bowl are both pressurized. Along with that you would have to pressurize the fuel going into the carburetor at a higher pressure than it is stock (likely just head pressure of the tank fed) in relation to boost. Other wise you will either flood your fuel bowl or run it dry.
    To bad you don't live around my area, I bet I could get that e-charger to work with some tig welding and jury rigging lol.

  • @iamunnameable
    @iamunnameable 7 лет назад +4

    If you can, try to figure out a way to boost reference the carburetor so it doesn't lean out. Adjusting the jetting probably won't do anything because the pressure that the "turbo" (quotes because this is a supercharger and doesn't have a turbine spun by the exhaust) is making is canceling out the pressure you have in the fuel causing it to go lean. Find out what pressure that supercharger is making, then add that number to your standard fuel pressure and you'll have a better chance. Also a good idea to get an oxygen sensor to keep your stoichiometry good. Don't let the haters get you down, keep on learning; even if you're learning from mistakes. :)

  • @spinnanz
    @spinnanz 7 лет назад +8

    When reviewing an item you should at least make sure you are using it properly.
    Although are correct in your finding that the turbo is junk, however even with a proper turbo, your setup won't work, it will fail on account of the way you set it up.
    For your setup to work your fuel pressure from the tank to carb needs to be a few psi more than the turbo makes (or move the turbo to AFTER the carb).
    If you want the turbo in it's current place, you need a pump and rising rate fuel pressure reg between the tank and carb and you need to equalize your carbs internal pressure in the fuel bowl using a pitot tube (google it), this will keep the pressure in the carbs fuel bowl and inlet the same, so the fuel can still use the venturi effect. Simple.....

  • @Kasichs

    The carburetor needs vacuum to run properly. You have to put your "turbine" between engine and carburetor. Besides, you must put bigger nozzle in the carb. to provide more fuel for the extra air that your "turbine" produces.

    • @monosurge
      @monosurge 5 лет назад +2

      @@johnwickens6480 Kasics had it right actually. It's called 'draw through' turbocharging. When you turbocharge a carbed engine, you mount it in draw through configuration. The videos configuration was 'blow through', and that's why his bike was bitching about it. Blow through works best on engines that use sensors to monitor air intake, like MAF, and compensate fuel based on that. With a carb, in draw through configuration, the increase in vacuum to the carb will handle everything for you. By mounting his turbo in blow through, the carb actually sees LESS vacuum when active and the engine starved for fuel. I ran draw through turbo engines throughout my 20's. Solid performers when dialed in.

    The turbo (Air blower or chrome hair dryer) MUST be mounted between the carb and the engine! Air vacuum draws fuel through the carb. Air pressure reverses fuel flow and prevents it from entering the throat of the carb. Electric turbo would work if installed properly. I am an engineer and I know these things. Though if you used an exhaust driven turbo, you would get a major improvement.

    Depending on how you have that plumbed,that carburetor bowl Vents to the atmosphere. You need to take the float bowl vent tube and plumb it to the pressure side of the turbo that way it is under the same pressure as the carburetor Venturi that way the air pressure inside the intake track doesn't try to push the fuel back out of the carburetor I bet you will work then

    I think I may have an idea about WHY your bike didn't like the turbo
    while you had the opening facing front, it was already getting max airflow for your fuel mix
    when you pushed more air in .. you may have fuel starved your engine
    you have to remember, when using anything that pushes MORE air into your engine
    you must compensate for more air with more fuel
    it's actually a delicate balance of fuel/oxygen/spark
    maybe try a richer(more fuel) mix ... then hit your turbo and see what happens
    I did notice that when you hit the N2O it went faster .....
    which gave me that idea about your fuel mix
    you mentioned a different jet-kit for your carb .... how did that work?
    did it give you more fuel like you wanted?
    anyways, good luck

    Like Chris Villarreal said you would need to move the carburetor for the turbo to work properly. As well as the Nitrous Oxide you would wand to have a larger main jet than normal so when you hit the high circuit you aren't just oxygenating the mixture. or if you want the carburetor to not have the fuel pushed away from the jets when you hit the "turbo" you need to add a port in the float bowl area above the fuel so it equalizes. That's how a Boost reference carburetor works. this setup could work if you have another carburetor you can still through so it's only for the Boosted setup. But you probably won't see much gain because I know those electric "turbos" don't have enough sealing potential around the compressor wheel to actually provide enough boost for the fan speed.

    If you use a blow thru set up like this, you need to drill and tap your fuel bowl for a barbed fitting. Then run a hose from your elbow, or tube right after the turbo to the barbed fitting on the carb. This pressurizes your fuel bowl when the turbo spools to compensate for the added boost.

    Turbos work on the exhaust. So its basically a 'turbo' that does a supercharger's Job. Instead of using Nitrous via a gas form. Add in a split line from a fuel pump of 10% Nitro-methane. (TOPS!) Do NOT use 25% +. Your bike will lift up on you. Works best on 2 strokes cause the Nitro-methane has castor oil in in it. (Which is used solely for racing 2 stroke bikes) So your covered for lubrication. I urge you put in a pump that is low pressure high volume. You need to put in the split Y adapter at the carb's fuel input. If you can put in a one way valve on your gasoline so the nitrous pressure doesnt go UP your fuel line. I have used Nitro-Methane on many small engines (Diluted with fuel) for many years and they are still running fine. I ran one 10,000 miles with a small amount of NM in my fuel. I got so much power I revved out my clutch at 3/4 a throttle. Tore the engine down and no worn rings or wall.

    No way is that motor-propeller able to "boost" the CFM of the engine; if anything- the dropout you hear, is a *_restriction_* of airflow. Choking the engine under load could lead to detonation. Better idea- junkyard, windshield washer reservoir with pump, hose to intake, push button operated. Get a brass spray nozzle, on hose end. Run 50/50 water-washer fluid mix. Only spray at WOT to avoid hydro lock.

    Jesus man...you're doing things the hard way. Cut the cover over the flywheel so that it (flywheel) could drive a belt. Go to the junkyard & buy a smog pump for a Fox body mustang. Fabricate a bracket on the side of the motor so a belt can be run between the flywheel & the pulley on the smog pump. Remove carburator. Plumb outlet of smog pump to engine intake. Ditch factory carb. Buy a Mikuni or Keihn. (VM 24 or PE 24). Plumb carb to intake side of smog pump. You now have a pocket bike with a roots style blower. If you're able to find a used carb...the entire mod could be done for

    if u put more air in the carb u should put more gas in it. The turbo (idea) itself works. U had to increase really a lot the main jet of the carb and have the turbo speed relative to how much u opened the gas in order to avoid the chocke effect. I think that u did not open a carburator once. the only interesting thing of this turbo is to have 2 separate speeds for air intake, normal and turbo. low and mid jets with normal air, pinped main jets for boosted air intake. It may work.

  • @KujGaming

    please tell me you're not serious.... if that little piece of plastic produced any boost at all, it would push the fuel back into the tank from the carburetor. there is no pressure in the fuel system like a car. Its just gravity fed. so of course a turbo wouldn't do anything.

    you are using it wrong... what you do is you connect it to your exhaust pipe so you can pass emission tests ;) friend of mine had a scooter with an electris "air conpressor" from the importer. .. when he was doing maintenance it turned the air was going to the engine, but not into the engine.. it was rerouted to the exhaust in a way that you really could not see it unless you take the whole thing apart... so he wondered why... tunes out probably to lower emissions so the chappy chinasium engine could be imported into the Netherlands.... genius.... • @Triple88a
    @Triple88a 3 года назад

    Your issue.. you're running gravity fed carburetor and you're blowing through it. Aka pushing the fuel out of the carb back into the fuel tank so the engine is running lean. For test purposes rig up a tiny bottle for fuel and connect a hose to the top of the new fuel "bottle" and the other side right by the "turbo". You want to pressurize the fuel bottle using the turbo.

  • @budgetgaragebuilds3760

    there is 2 main types of carbs "suck through" and "blow through" this is a suck through so forcing air through it is not going to work it will not add anymore fuel to the mixture like a blow through would for a real turbo set up now if you place the "suck through" that you have in front of the electric supercharger you will increase the fuel ratio due to actually sucking the air in

  • @ElCanaldelNoriega
    @ElCanaldelNoriega 7 лет назад

    The turbo did not fail, your engine went super lean since you didn't jet the carb, you are adding air but didn't add the extra fuel for the added air, that's why the NO2 worked, because it was being burned by the engine, but add the air of the turbo again, and will super lean the engine and provoked what you just experienced. my 2 cents.

    How to determine if an electric turbo will work on any given engine is simple. compare your intake airflow at Max rpm to the turbo airflow. If turbo can flow more air than the engine is pulling it will work.
    how to determine this? For a 2 stroke, single cylinder simply multiply capacity by rpm for a pretty close number.
    For a 50cc engine:
    50cc @5000rpm then intake airflow is 250,000cc /min or 250L /min
    so your fan MUST push more air than 250L per min or 8.8 cubic feet per min for it to even keep up with what the engine needs!
    to double it, or give 15psi boost, you would need twice the airflow. and this is assuming the fan has the torque to compress the extra air.
    I have seen a DIY electric turbo which worked, it used the intake side of a traditional turbocharger, they removed the exhaust side and fitted a high power dc brushless motor to it.
    That is the only thing that has the power and rpm to move enough air to make this work.

  • @MaDcOw1986

    Its a carb, if the turbo is indeed working, then the pressure will push fuel back into the carburetor, less fuel going into the engine.. carb works by suction, while turbo push, forcing air into the engjne, so you need to place carb infront of the turbo where there are suction.. unless you're going to add fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator to match turbo..
    There's no chance a small electric turbo will work on any car engine because of their huge displacement.. while a 125-150cc bike, "may be" it can work.. 🤔
    But I think it is a long shot.. 😅

  • @vladimirpetrov9717
    @vladimirpetrov9717 7 лет назад

    It's making it run lean, that's why it's bogging. That and the fact that adding pressure to the carb probably makes the float valve seal and not let any fuel in the float bowl, again making it run lean. Try to go up on the main jet size and lift the needle (move the clip down) a few notches. That being said, don't expect magic results, this plastic "turbo" can only move so much air, let alone compress it...
    About the NOS, it has the same effect as a turbo, so you need to figure out a way to add more fuel as you're adding NO (but then stop it when you run out).

    First of all, this isn't a turbo, its a blower. Second of all, for those who are ignorant to 2 stroke, you CAN'T put any forced induction on a 2 stroke since there are no valves. You're just blowing the fuel/air mix right through the engine and out the exhaust when both intake and exhaust ports are open which is how a 2 stroke works.. These sort of videos just make people dumber.

    Electric turbos can't even spool at a high enough rpm to have any beneficial effects? The rotor spins so slowly that it ends up causing extra drag, which PREVENTS air from entering the intake. Though I guess he couldn't have known that seeing as he put the turbo in front of the carb, which requires a vacuum to work.

    Your creating positive pressure in your crankcase thats what a blow off valve is for. There is pressure involved.thats why boost is measured in pounds per square inch(psi).if you are serious about your tubo build,you need to find your engines volumetric efficiency(bore x bore x stroke)to determine the max volume of air your engine can consume. From there you can gather how many pounds(psi)of boost your engine can safely endure.

    your "turbo" is simply a ducted electric fan.
    what's happening is this: when it's turned off, the blades just free spin and do very little. when you turn it on, it's actually spinning too slow for the air! and is actually slowing down the air flow which is why your engine dies.
    its not that it "doesn't like" it, it's that it's starving the engine of air!
    electric turbos ARE a thing, they use them on some new euro cars for increasing acceleration, however they are a centrifugal blade design, like a normal turbo is.

    your adding extra air into the engine but not fuel. what you should've done of
    1. put the battery polarity the right way
    2.install a better jet for the carb
    3.get off a pocket bike and get something REAL
    4. stick a TRUE working turbo on in.
