Tamim Suhail - seriously! I don't understand why so many tech reviewers are obsessed with fingerprints on devices that you aren't supposed to touch.
I really wanted this TV until I started fondling it.. It's my passion to fondle a good TV, this TV is not great for fondling but it made me feel good for a few minutes only.. Fingerprints EVERYWHERE. Do not touch this TV if you aren't prepared for this horrible horrible side effect. Total deal breaker. Again, DON'T HAVE THE SEX WITH THE TV. I mean don't touch it at all, it's not even a foreplay TV. I've said too much

This WAS the best tv under a thousand... The new TCL 6 series replacing this at the same price has fixed most of the issues mentioned. Totally redesigned now has metal bezels and rear panel, more local dimming zones, better off angle viewing. Available in a couple months so I'll wait. There will be a 65" version around a thousand too.

kursed13 I'd say, for anyone that doesn't have the P-Series, they should wait for the 6-Series.

They are still making the P series in the spring to and the 6 series has no local dimming!! P series is better
The OGgamer that's incorrect. 96 dimming zones on the 6 series 55" and 120 zones on the 65". More than last year's P series with only 72 zones.
I've had the P605 for 2 months now and absolutely love it. Comparing COD WW2 on my TV versus my buddies Vizio M series, not much of a difference. The Vizio has richer colors, but barely IMO. Picture looks great even when streaming cable.
I sit at about a 25 degree angle to my TV and it still looks great. Well worth $550.
Edit: I do agree, this TV NEEDS a soundbar. Speaker quality is the only knock I have against the TV

Samsung TVs took a dive in 2017, and LGs are pretty mediocre (even relative to Samsung) aside from their OLEDs
Still gaming in my P605 in 2019, to still the best gaming TV around. I also have the 2018 modle as well. P seriers still shines
Great video. As I did purchase the TCL P605, I really was impressed with the quality of picture and just for $600 it was a steal. But that’s not without cutting corners like you said. TV box states 120hz but what I found out it was more like a “fake” refresh rate 60hz. Everyone is different and I like the soap opera effect with let say native 120hz TVs. I know that effect is not what everyone likes but that’s my preference. I had this tv for a total of 7 days and this must have been a lemon or something but it was a good tv. Everytime I turned it on I had to mess with the picture settings because everytime the colors looked more and more washed out. Then the audio started going bad. First no audio on analog tv tuner until I changed it to a digital channel and change it bad then I got audio. Then the audio was delayed for a good 2 seconds on everything....tv, PS4, on tv apps, Blu-ray player.....all audio delays.
As I’m sure as I got a lemon tv, this tv was really good for the casual viewer and avid gamers with very little lag time. I ultimately took it back and opted in for a Sony X900E and I never looked back.
I just gotta remember. You Get what you pay for.

"soap opera effect" definitely has it's place. I hate it on movies, but love it on old tv shows. I have the x900e and you can set it to have ultra-SOE (motionflow XR 960...which I'm guessing is artificial 960 Hz), which breaths new life into old fuzzy tv shows. However, it does come at a price, as it also adds some motion artifacts in action scenes and camera pans...idle scenes look incredible though.
I could care less about design. Just give me a great picture!!!
Do you have plans on reviewing the Nvidia tvs whenever they release? Asus, Acer, or who ever else is producing them?
Hoping you could comment on the Tv's ability to upscale 1080p content. Most cable companies are not broadcasting 4k content so upscaling ability seems important. Thanks. Mich

I bought the TCL 55C807 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model) from Costco and it was $450. Best price for a 4k tv, my kids use it.

David Sapiencia I do, I bought it for my kids to watch there shows on. I have another 65in 4k Samsung TV that they sell at Costco for like 1200 for my main gaming on my ps4 pro. But I would recommend this 55in Roku tv for 450 definitely, you can't go wrong with that price.

From where to start hdr mode...my ps4 pro.. shows hdr unavailable
I have been noticing some banding like if it is a light scene or even peoples faces when the camera moves i notice really faint lines is this normal
My TCL same model is not looking good in HDR with the PS4 pro. Everytime I switch to HDR mode you can definitely tell that the colors are more flashed out and in HDR the colors look expecially grayed out. Anyone have similer issues, or know a fix. Everything is updated and I use many different recommend settings

Without question it is worth it. I bought one and it was my 2nd 4k experience. My first is my gaming monitor. The apps that are standard are good and the way my Xbox one X looks in "game" mode is amazing. I HIGHLY recommend this TV. 4 months in and still an awesome buy.
The only caveat I forgot to add was the sound. Its tinny and not so clear. I bought a $100 LG soundbar with bass at the same time so I didn't have to suffer with its sound.
If you game on more than one device make sure it has more than 1 60hz hdmi port, and, make sure that port does resolutions that are not 1080p/4K at 60 hz also. Most have only one, and some of those do all other resolutions at 30hz even on that one port. Look up all details you could ever need at Rtings.com. Usually the first site to show even that relatively unknown model you never heard of so you can find it's input lag and other details that the store sites never show.

I wonder how this stacks up against the hisense h8c. That TV is $420 at BB right now, has HDR, and local dimming. Might be even better than this TCL or at least on par.
I can recommend it I have had one for a few months and with the savings made on the price purchased a nice 5.1 theater system

x900e has a significantly brighter screen. The dimmer screen on the p series doesn't show HDR as well, despite it having dolby vision. I think the picture and build quality make it worth the extra money.
Definitely worth it. I have this tv and it's still working just fine. Great tv for back in 2017.
it's going to be out of the 2018 version of the TCL P and Vizio P for me. VERY soon

The picture quality is amazing.
I hope they bring something like it for EU... I bought C70 and returned it to the store, they even claim 200 dimming zones which is fake since the TV doesn't even support local dimming and its edge lit.
But it was still the best TV I tested 4 the price, but it's still far from the P607 in everything, but the HDR still actually worked contrary to same price LGs and Samsung's which just have a fake HDR with the same crap 300-350 cd/m2 on all scenes and a really take crap image not much far from the SDR content...

If ur looking to buy the TCL P series wait till spring when the new P series comes out with 96 control zones instead of 72 for the same price as the 2017 model and they are making a 65" P series with 120 control zones! So for the same $600-$650 price ur getting an even better TV!!
I have this TV and it is great except for the slightly dark areas around the corners during bright scenes. You can even see them in this video. Good TV overall though.

Not sure why people worry themselves about 'off axis viewing', it's not like you're buying a set to sit sideways and watch. Surely you may end up glancing at it from sideways time to time, but that shouldn't be anything imho that should influence a purchase
+Omar Davis I'm not worried. It's something you need to tell people prior to buying. Also depending on livingroom configuration you may have to see if from an off axis position.

Nickt good to know. Tcl is usually good about labeling the HDMI port that does ARC. I have a fantastic sony 7.1 soundbar but since it's not capable of passing through 4k video I have to resort to ARC.

I personally think vizio does cheap TVs better, for example.
Even though I got my refurbished. I got a 2016 model of the vizio e55-e1,
which has a native 4K, hdr10, full array backlighting, chromcast built in.and a native 60hz refresh rate with there own version of motion blur reduction, all at a screen size of 55 inches.
And I got it for around $375.
Now don’t get me wrong, this tv that your showing us is very good, and better in some areas then other,
Like the fact that this tv has 7 times more local dimming zones then mine.
But other than that.... I personally think that if someone is looking for a tv, they should compare it with a vizio tv that is in the same price range,
As a matter of fact I would like to see a comparison between this tv and the vizio M55-E0 which currently on vizio site is only $50 more that this one.
MacGyver cohen I would've bought the M-Series, but it only has ONE working HDMI port for sources with HDR. That's a deal-breaker.
Base on my readings this past week on TV's it seems the p tcl are raved for having legit local dimming with many zones thus full-blown hdr unlike the e series which barely as any and not bright enough. The tcl p competes with $1000 set for 600, while even the m Vizio falls short and only the Vizio Ps are better but they cost more. That's why is so compelling to reviewers and buyers.
I would wait for the new 6 series coming out this spring for the same price.

That tv in India is about 1800$ lol except we don’t have roku.
I have an 55" TCL 4K ultra HD/HDR TV with the built in Roku. After having it and playing my 4K Games, and watching movies in 4K, (All of which looked AMAZING I must say) for a year and an half, it doesn't work right anymore. It casts a shadow over half of the screen, and if your warranty is only a year (Like mine was) you're screwed. Which pisses me off, because I would've paid over 500 bucks for this tv, but I got it on sale for 450 dollars. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

Then you messed up. I had the Vizio M55 and its not as good as the tcl p series. On the Vizio u have atleast twice the input lag than the tcl. And another plus on the tcl its 14 miliseconds with local dimming and hdr on. Yes both. Vizio can only have hdr. It turns of local dimming wich is a big bummer and does take from the experience. Anywho you probably never turned game mode on. Wich u have to do on the tcl.
Cali 14ms is about the lowest you can get with TVs, so good luck.
The lowest possible input lag on a 60 hz screen is about 8 ms.
You are confusing response time with input lag. There is a difference.

get the p-605 not the 607. the only difference is the 607 has a headphone jack on the remote and that can be replicated via your phone and you'll save 50 bucks.

Sorry guys. But i just bought TCL tv 65 inch. In just 1yr the tv picture went out.. TCL not willing to repair or replace even though it is 2 weeks out of warranty! I have never own a tv that only last 1 yr!! Then you trash it.. i have Samsung rear projector tv in the basement 20yrs old. I can not kill the thing. I replaced the bulb and Samsung is good as new.. Guys make your own choice... i will never put my money on a TCL NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT LOOKS!! 6/12/2020
