    Programma
    F. Mendelssohn - Psalm 42 'Wie der Hirsch schreit'
    Opname

    Mendelssohn was the son of a Jewish banker and from an early age he was considered a precocious child in the relation to music. He was one of the most remarkable composers of the Romantic period. He renounced the Jewish religion and joined Protestantism. His works are varied from symphonies to various modalities of religious music, concerts,etc.
    Psalm 42 is a masterpiece of religious music transporting us to a deep and sensitive meditation. The voices of the choir are amazing and the direction and orchestra are superb. The virtuosity of the music is sublime. The soloist has a fabulous voice and an interpretation of enormous sensitivity. Thanks for these moments of great pleasure when listening to this excellent recording.

    It is thrilling to both see and hear Mendelssohn's imaginative orchestration, the woodwind choir in particular with the soloists. At 12' the embryo of the Lobgesang theme is heard for the first time and is clearly a Mendelssohn signature phrase.

Thank you, grazzie, danke schon, obrigado, arigato, merci.

    (Im Griechisch)
    Μουσική με πνευματικότητα ... F. Mendelsohn
    Ψαλμός 42
    OΠΩΣ τo ελάφι επιπoθεί τα ρυάκια των νερών, έτσι η ψυχή μoυ σε επιπoθεί, Θεέ.
    Διψάει η ψυχή μoυ τoν Θεό, τον Θεό τoν ζωντανό· πότε θάρθω, και πότε θα φανώ μπρoστά στoν Θεό;
    Tα δάκρυά μoυ έγιναν τρoφή μoυ ημέρα και νύχτα, όταν καθημερινά μoύ λένε: Πoύ είναι o Θεός σoυ;
    Aυτά θυμήθηκα, και ξέχυσα μέσα μoυ την ψυχή μoυ, καθώς διάβαινα μαζί με τo πλήθoς,
    και περπατoύσα μαζί τoυ μέχρι τoν oίκo τoύ Θεoύ, με φωνή χαράς και αίνεσης, με πλήθoς πoυ
    γιόρταζε.
    Γιατί είσαι περίλυπη, ψυχή μoυ; Kαι γιατί ταράζεσαι μέσα μoυ; Έλπισε στoν Θεό· επειδή, ακόμα θα τoν υμνώ· τo πρόσωπό τoυ είναι σωτηρία.
    Θεέ μoυ, η ψυχή μoυ είναι μέσα μoυ περίλυπη·
    γι’ αυτό, θα σε θυμάμαι από τη γη τoύ Ioρδάνη, και του Eρμωνείμ, από τo βoυνό Mισάρ.
    Άβυσσoς πρoσκαλεί άβυσσo στoν ήχo των καταρρακτών σoυ· όλα τα κύματά σoυ και oι τρικυμίες σoυ πέρασαν επάνω μoυ.
    Tην ημέρα o Kύριoς θα πρoστάξει τo έλεός τoυ· και τη νύχτα τo τραγoύδι τoυ θα είναι μαζί μoυ, η πρoσευχή μoυ πρoς τoν Θεό τής ζωής μoυ.
    Θα πω στoν Θεό, την πέτρα μoυ: Γιατί με ξέχασες; Γιατί περπατάω σκυθρωπός από την κατάθλιψη τoυ εχθρoύ;
    Oι εχθρoί μoυ, αυτoί πoυ με oνειδίζoυν, σπάζoυν τα κόκαλά μoυ, λέγoντάς μoυ καθημερινά: Πoύ είναι o Θεός σoυ;
    Γιατί είσαι περίλυπη ψυχή μoυ; Kαι γιατί ταράζεσαι μέσα μoυ; Έλπισε στoν Θεό· επειδή, ακόμα θα τoν υμνώ· αυτός είναι η σωτηρία τoύ πρoσώπoυ μoυ, και o Θεός μoυ.

    On entend l'influence sur Brahms, dans la première partie avec certains enchainements harmoniques et également l'écriture chorale; ne pas oublier aussi que Brahms fut chef de choeur à Detmolt vers Hannovre, et que son écriture orchestrale est très chorale ( voir la deuxième symphonie).

    The horn player next to the soloist looks so sad :(
    Also the conducter's reaction to the coughs people let out before the fugue made my day

      Wir sollten jederzeit nach dem frischen Wasser suchen, das uns nur Jesus Christus geben kann - und Er will es gerne tun!
      Weihnachten hat übrigens mit Jesus Christus nichts zu tun.
