Voor Schubert was religieuze muziek iets anders dan kerkelijke muziek. Zijn missen zijn meer expressieve uitingen van zijn eigen geloofsbeleving dan voorspelbare invuloefeningen van kerkelijke voorschriften. Dat uitgangspunt geeft hem ruimte om zich van zijn kwetsbare, menselijk kant te tonen. Sommige delen uit Schuberts mis hebben het karakter van een requiem, waarin de componist zijn eigen naderende einde lijkt te voorspellen. In andere delen is de componist van honderden liederen niet ver weg en kijkt Schubert terug op meer gelukkige periodes in zijn leven.

Shubert was the first romantic composer.He has a vast work especially of religious origin. This mass nr 6 is touching and bring us to felt emotion, given its strength and religious depth. The soloists, choir and the orchestration are amazing and provide us with unforgettable moments of great pleasure and meaningful reflection. Thanks for this magnificent recording.

Las mejores misas sinfónicas del periodo romántico las compuso Franz Schubert, de eso no hay la menor duda. Todo el encanto romántico: la pasión, ímpetu, sentimiento y carga emotiva que caracterizaron a los artistas del romanticismo se refleja en estas obras sacras. Divino y magistral a la vez!!!

Très grande version, très belle écoute et pieuse implication de l'ensemble des interprètes. Philippe Herreweghe est un interprète on ne peut plus convaincant, tout particulièrement dans ce répertoire. Très sensible, dynamiques et équilibre superbement dosés, et contrastés, quelle magie notamment à 42:53 : très grand musicien!

Me familiaricé con esta hermosísima obra hace mas de 50 años, cuando fue interpretada por solistas y conjuntos locales en nuestra ciudad Concepción- Chile
Geweldig dat de AVRO en TROS ism Vredenburg dit niet alleen hadden georganiseerd maar bovendien zo mooi in beeld hebben gebracht! Hulde. .Ook voor de uitvoering in Het Concertgebouw waar het podium gelukkig veel dichter op het publiek staat.

Esta é, certamente, a mais madura obra desse mestre, moldado a partir do que foi o pequeno integrante dos "Meninos Cantores de Viena", e ao término do pouco que viveu mostrou ao mundo a sua produção grandiosa num polifonismo que arquitetou como se último fosse.
