Biffa: Alright, this area is struggling with people Us: So you're gonna build a residential area near it, right? Biffa: .... Us: Right? Biffa:**Bulids a tourist area next to it**
Instead of lowering the rail line why not leave it at level height where it was raised and put walking paths underneath, shorter distance for walking so more effective
Well, on a realism level, it's harder to raise a rail line than a pedestrian path. But also, pedestrian paths that are tunnels are higher crime normally and (irl not in game) discourage walking.
I love that the video started out with "we're eyeing some areas for residential" and through the power of distraction/inspiration, a beautiful shopping promenade was created instead. You have to love cities skylines.
By having a raised station you're actually being environmentally friendly as the approaching trains needs less power to broke, and departing ones gets a free boost. This idea is used in real life on the copenhagen metro stations underground, where the lines is lower than the stations.
Biffa, it is few episodes u haven't put a train stop on the other side of the highway with ferries. 37:58 u also should put more trains to this line cuz it seems to be quite a distance now! have a nice day Biffa! great job!
The path on the train station seems to be disconnected from the station itself. Maybe connect the path directly so that the sims do not have to walk all the way around?
Biffa, i was wondering, could you have submerged the train station, so that the tracks would be on the same level as the existing ones but the car park in front of the entrance is just a bit lower? Btw: Good job on tackling the residential need situation 😄
I really love the detail you always put into your cities. At 39 minutes you added a couple paths under the trainstation line. You eliminated the need for the pedestrian overpasses you made. You could raise the tracks to be level all the way across. You could then just add paths under the tracks to provide more walkability. Some of the pedestrian overpass is very steep. - But, there is more than one way to do the same thing.
To be fair, pedestrian underpasses tend to be higher crime areas than overpasses, so while it's not true in game, IRL, pedestrians may actually prefer the overpass
Karen Sterling from Verde Beach was visting friends and family in New Tealand and of course, had to do some shopping at the Posh Mall. Much to her chagrin, see saw the Welcome to Myrtle Park signs when approaching the area and knew this wouldn't do, at all! She's proposed a not insigfigent grant to New Tealand in hopes that the new area can be renamed to something more benefiting such a posh area of the city. Perhaps Karen's Gardens?
There's a situation you don't want to be anywhere near. You never want to get in the way of a Karen, especially that Karen. But it's also unwise to anger Myrtle.
Amazing addition! Absolutely love it. Really one of the better places to build a mall and a large commercial district. I have a few suggestions that would make it even better in my opinion. As stated elsewhere, I don't really get why you would first let the rail go down only to go up afterwards, then back down and then back up, combined with a rather long and steep (and expensive) pedestrian bridge. Wouldn't it be much more sensible to just keep the rail in the air? You can keep the nice circular details and put the paths on ground level if that would be an issue. I also think it needs a few more options to go in and out. Maybe a local bridge over the river to the industrial zone and interchange next to it? This would also make it easier to deliver goods to the region. I would also delete a few of the skyscraper hotels or even impose a high rise ban. They are not the nicest assets (in my opinion) and highrises next to this wonderful large low density area across the highway feels a bit weird. I personally feel that the interchange can be downsized quite a bit. Atm, it feels to me as a scar in the middle between a nice low density neighborhood, a high density commercial zone and whatever you'll put behind the railline. I could imagine that land would be quite valuable there, making such an (unnecessarily large) interchange even more out of place. Either way, you are doing an amazing job! These are just some thoughts, do with them whatever you like :)
That offset tool is something that has been needed for such a long time! Glad to see it finally come to fruition. Hope you will consider an extended look-back episode over this city as a "season finale" when (if) you ever get done with it. It has been one heck of a journey, and it would be cool to go through a full synopsis of what was done here.
The up and down train line roller coaster could have been avoided by keeping the rail elevated as it was in the beginning and sending the paths under it. It would have been a much cleaner look.
I think one of the reasons you’re getting so much traffic backing up onto the highway from the upgraded, three-lane roundabout, is that you appear to have not upgraded the one segment that enters the roundabout from that highway off-ramp. I could be wrong, but that is what it looked like as you went around upgrading those segments.
The parallel tool defaults to the right side of the road in the direction you select. It's why you didn't need to flip the fence at around 11:30. That tool is amazing.... I don't have to do crazy tweaking and mental math to get perfect parallel features.
Hi Biffa, I love your videos and that's why I looked for a really cool Mod called Advanced Vehicle Options, with this Mod you can change some characteristic of any vehicle in the game, including maximum speed and capacity. I saw a youtuber using this Mod to reduce the amount of trains and ships arriving in his city, increasing the carrying capacity of trains and ships. Hope this helps you. A hug from Brazil.
Hey Biffa, I really think you should connect the road on the opposite sides of the train station maybe from the corner where you put down the warehouse instead like you do say at 27:22. That will help people to come to the new area without going through the roundabout coming from the highway since that road connects to various other part of the city. Hope you see this. Also thanks for the great video 👍 Searching for those poor Tealanders new residential area. 😂🤔😂
Biffa, amazing work as always. Two things I thought of for the area: 1) That roundabout at the interchange is responsible for moving traffic in too many directions. You might need to look at rebuilding that once you have residential setup in the area. 2) You should add more parking around the train station, and put in a bus terminal there which can run people to the different areas.
Start of the Episode: Lowers the train tracks to put a pedestrian bridge over it.: End of the Episode: Raises part of the train tracks to connect it to a station.
biffa i love your work. from the hugo ads to the in depth descriptions of what you're working on and everything between. it's always a good time watching you go. keep it up, have a sippa!
According to City Planner Plays' video on zoning, a tourist district will always generate level 2 or 3 buildings, regardless of whether you use low- or high-density commercial.
To my knowledge, they're always level 2. The only difference between zoning types, I believe, are the application of the small/big business enthusiast policies.
fun video I know you hate tunnels but at the beginning you have a railway embankment and running two parallel paths either side as you did, just putting short walkways through and under the embankment would have been perfect. Think of how it is done in London lower maintenance than a bridge, less conflict, shorter walking times. just got to 34:02 and looking at embankment and underpasses haha. though what you created was super pretty. underpasses would save space and embanking the rail line would mean raised train station would be perfect.
Hi Biffa, a suggestion to the paths around the new train station. As good as the S shape looks, it would make sense to just have the connection underneath the train station and connect the paths directly to the parking lot of the station, so people can directly walk to the platform. At the moment they are walking all the way along the street. Cheers as always for the perfect content. Love it!
26:47 I love that the bridge area is uneven. Sort of hilly, not smooth, rising in elevation with a naturally sloping road with rail bridging overhead. I also like the elevated train station.
I love these episodes where you get all creative with the game. Good choice, the amusement park pathways. it's colourful, has benches ánd lits up at night. And the flowers, there's never enough flowers! In my corner of the Netherlands there's an amusement park (the Efteling) which is all about the details and the gardens are breathtaking. Dunno if you heard of it. I have gone there with my now 97 year old grandma a few years ago (with a wheelchair) and ofcourse most attractions were of limits. But in that particular park those aren't the main focus at all. We strolled around through countless fairy tale themed scenery routes with an almost sickening amount of colorful flowers. I didn't think she would like to stay out for so long, but she was a bundle of joy all day! ♥ If a ticket wasn't so expensive I'd take her every weekend :)
38:00 - Seems like you could probably fit a metro in beside the commercial side of the tracks near the train station. Something to connect up to Tearantula Terminal maybe.
When you do these sort of videos, what would be really helpful is if you could list the various mods etc. The number of times I've had to take screenshots to identify particular things you are doing or aspects of each mod is unreal.
Loved the video, as always. First half spent detailing the paths and bridges across the railway, then putting in an elevated station so the paths can cross underneath anyway ;D A couple of ideas: 41:43 you saying "path connections" made me think it'd be nice to put in a path connection all the way across the motorway! maybe connect from the street that lines up with the path coming straight from the station itself? And: not seeing anyone on bikes on those paths? No bike access?
I love the way Biffa starts the video saying we have a high demand for residential, touches on it again midway and doesn't even place down one house all video!
Nice little area you've got, with The Posh Mall that will attract people such as Karen Sterling and Maggie Myrtle from Verde Beach (especially when the Fire Goddess Myrtle is setting fires! 🗽🔥🔥🔥 And that Statue of Wealth: you said he was wearing a superhero's costume. To me, it looks like he's wearing a low cut Speedo. Definitely the most homoerotic statue in the monument collection and will definitely be an attraction. 😉😁

It would be really cool if you could add some sort of skiing resort next to the mountain somewhere, with a small hub mixed tourists zone and all night leisure zones for entertainment as a sort of vacation spot
Biffa, would it be a problem with the train tracks? Because I think the train track you just used as a passenger station line is also used by the cargo station line. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Love the city!
What I love about Buffa is that for about 5 episodes he has had huge residential demands and he has just ignore it and built everything but residential. I find it really funny.

I’d call the posh area Twinings Station. I love using “Station” or “Esplanade” for high-end shopping areas, and Twinings is a very posh tea according to the website I checked.
Always enjoyable to watch. I do think you should have continued the rail twinning project through this area before building anything else. Also, once the elevated train station was chosen, the whole rail probably should have been raised and the paths changed to underneath. That or gone with a ground level station.
The elevated train station issue could have been solved by lowering the road that it's connected to, and slopifying the road either side. A nice park or something opposite would fit in with the vibe too, maybe even a metro station?
In hindsight you should've left the railway raised up, then you could tunnel the path underneath. It's a more direct route for the pedestrians as well.
I've watched my way through the entirety of New Tealand while spending a great deal of time knitting, and it's been great to watch the city grow. Plus, your videos are very engaging without demanding too much brain power, so that's very nice as well.
Biffa: spent an entire episode fixing his rail network to separate passenger and cargo trains to prevent rail traffic clogs Also Biffa: places a station without a bypass that will clog up the rail traffic lol
Biffa, go back to the walkovers and on the wonky parts, select "bend" and then select Slope. Also with the T-sections, they are probably already "Custom", but make sure they are "Slope". Then i will be completly smooth. Way sweeter. :)
🤔 That small roundabout (even with 3 lanes) seems to be prioritizing the small amount of traffic coming from the flyover rather than the larger amount coming off the motorway. You may need to have a stop sign for the flyover traffic (as there isn't much of it) and just a yield sign for the offramp traffic to keep them moving? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
As you split the area, and to keep in with the wealth theme, the other area could become The High Tea District, then you'll have one side for biscuits, and one side for scones
By the train station you can remove the curved flyover because everyone is using the path under the railway. You can then bring it down the train station to the road and give everyone a shorter walk into the new area.
I been playing city games since the first Sim city. Just started watching skyline videos for inspiration cause I suck at details and realism. Lol you're very well spoken and I enjoy your videos greatly. Thanks for the content
16:03 I dislike the car parks with entertainment value/park coverage, which is a shame because otherwise I like the spiral underground asset. Other than being a bit of a cheat in terms of increasing land value and attracting tourists, that the car park itself is a destination means it can turn red in the traffic view as cars try to park somewhere else to get to it, which negates the entire purpose. 25:52 After creating networks with NMT, I find it useful to highlight all the nodes with Move it and then to set height to terrain. It might need adjusting beyond that, but usually it's 90%+ there.
WAITWHAAAAAT!? You actually can edit elevation of segments in Fine Road Tools/Anarchy by SIMPLY changing the mode and then UPGRADE it? How much time I wasted doing stuff, not knowing this functionality. 😑 Thank youx a lot, @Biffa. Today this pony learned another trick.
Biffa, I just want to say thank you for all your hard work, this past year! Giving all your fans tips, ideas, and entertaining look into the game. Unfortunately, I am not to contribute to your expenses of providing these informative videos. But I did want to let you know Thank You!
Thinking outside the box but since you are a mayor with connections; maybe dredge the river and put in a marina for the rich and their yachts. That should theoretically be easily connectable to the entranceway of your future park up into the mountains. Might need a casino in the area too so they can raise awareness and fundraise for the endangered woolly tea tree owls. Skim extra funds from that to put in a ferry stop for the plebes.
One of the fences you placed using the parallel mod is intersecting over the train tracks/. Fair disclosure, haven't finished watching the video to see if you fix it
at 38:41 you put a crossover path next to the station; but being so close to that loop path (which is longer) doesn't it become obsolete? I'd like to see if anyone actually uses it now XD
Love the new district. I would put more walking paths towoards the main roads. And also in the middle of the 2 roads in de entertainment district. That block is very long. Also there is only one place for parking since non of the roads allow it.
That's hilarious mate 😂 The plan was to build a residential area but according to the law of Biffa the plan is something irrelevant and subject to change 😅 btw I've been enjoying binge watching this series my third favourite city after Verde beach and Orchid bay

Hi Biffa,
Make some gas and service stations at your highways. Tealanders need some oil and tea breaks while traveling by car! :)))

You may need to have a stop sign for the flyover traffic (as there isn't much of it) and just a yield sign for the offramp traffic to keep them moving? 🤔🤷🏻♂️
Oooh, I am going to use that parallel tool to add crash barrier guard rails along my highways. Nice!
As you split the area, and to keep in with the wealth theme, the other area could become The High Tea District, then you'll have one side for biscuits, and one side for scones
That's quite a cul-de-sac. The district should be named THE PARTEA ENDS HERE
By the train station you can remove the curved flyover because everyone is using the path under the railway. You can then bring it down the train station to the road and give everyone a shorter walk into the new area.
I think you should blend the posh mall area with all the different commercial special areas so it gives the Sims all the options for that area.
I been playing city games since the first Sim city. Just started watching skyline videos for inspiration cause I suck at details and realism. Lol you're very well spoken and I enjoy your videos greatly. Thanks for the content
You should have used the open air underground station that you used in one of your previous cities. That would've looked great!
You have Teasny Land, you need Teanaversial Studios on the other side of the mountain.
Universal STeadios?
Biffa you could have just raised the full railway line and put the paths under them the walking bridges over the railway lines is not needed
38:42, path under railway makes the nearby bridge redundant.
This episode made me laugh so much with the train and general humour Biffa! Love the edits!
It would have been cool to see the raised train station sunk into the ground to keep the tracks and walking paths level.
I think that there were a lot of cars as they had nowhere to park. I think changing some of the grass roads to regular ones with parking might help
Thanks for a awesome episode, love the way your city slowly comes together and connect to far places on the map :-)
Wow, reloaded yt cause it was being buggy and saw this- 15 minutes ago! Wow. I'll edit this comment to actually say smth about the video later lol
Naming suggestion: I noticed you have an area called Hickory Park. How about creating a seaside district next to it, and naming that "Dickory Docks"?
New names coming soon 😉
One of the fences you placed using the parallel mod is intersecting over the train tracks/. Fair disclosure, haven't finished watching the video to see if you fix it
at 38:41 you put a crossover path next to the station; but being so close to that loop path (which is longer) doesn't it become obsolete? I'd like to see if anyone actually uses it now XD
Spending hours with the bridges, then just adding a short cut later...
It's not about the path, it's about playing with Tools and enjoying the mods😎
Love the new district. I would put more walking paths towoards the main roads. And also in the middle of the 2 roads in de entertainment district. That block is very long. Also there is only one place for parking since non of the roads allow it.
Good morning Biffa, nice detailing. Why don´t you put more Park entrances to generate more cash, cause this area might be very buissy?
That's hilarious mate 😂 The plan was to build a residential area but according to the law of Biffa the plan is something irrelevant and subject to change 😅 btw I've been enjoying binge watching this series my third favourite city after Verde beach and Orchid bay
Between your editing and your content your videos never fail to make me smile.
I didn't know the I Like Trains Kid was in Biffa's game xD
