    I fill our Toothbrush holders (about 1/3) w/scented Epsom salts from Dollar Tree 🌳. The Salts absorb the moisture, keeps it from getting "nasty" & smells nice. I dump, wash/rinse & put fresh salts in every other week 😉. Great tips for efficiency, 😊 Thanks.

    I have found the totally best way to clean my ceiling fan blades without getting the dust all over the room is with an old pillowcase. Just slide the blade into pillowcase and pull towards the end of the blade. All the dust falls into the pillowcase and not on to everything in the room!😉

    • @RachPlusFive

    I keep my trash cans lined with newspaper on the bottom (under the bag) to keep them nice and clean. The most I ever have to do is wipe down the outside. It was a tip I saw years ago and it's really helped contain any leaks or spills.

      Great idea! I do something similar for our outdoor trash cans - I pour 2 cups of the most inexpensive Cat litter in the bottom of the can every week after trash pickup. The Cat litter absorbs any liquid at the bottom & helps keep trash odor to a minimum. That's a
      much appreciated perk during the Summer especially in TX, but I do it all yr🙂

    I have another tip always get the broom and get under your bed every time you clean your room, just use the broom handle to push anything out and then you will never have anything under your bed, that's how my mom showed me how to do it since I was a kid...hope this helps ❤️

      I use a hanger 😂

    • @shannonnichols3415
      @shannonnichols3415 2 года назад +3

      That’s so funny that you mentioned this because cleaning under my bed is partially why I’m here! We have the most beautiful hardwood floors (prev owners upgraded beautifully!), which I love, but since I’ve never had them in my bedroom I never thought of this as an issue…”dust bunnies”! I’ve only ever had carpet, & of course it got dusty. No big deal, I could just use the dust buster or the vacuum attachment -done!! But now. I can’t sweep or they go flying!
      My question is 2 part:
      1. Effective cleaning under bed
      And
      2. Preventative measures so it’s easier to clean next time!
      I thought about some sort of old sheet because then it’s not too bulky to throw in wash machine but I would love to hear anything anyone else can think of!
      (NOTE: I get the “super duper” a/c hepa filter and I have seen an improvement with less dusting needed, so I don’t think that’s the problem. They just like to go under my bed I guess!

    • @rachelolivas4775
      @rachelolivas4775 2 года назад

      @@shannonnichols3415 in the case of all the dust bunnies the only really good thing you can do it once a week or so you have to move your bed forward a little because there usually up against the walls and do it with a nice wooden floor cleaner thant way dust won't stick there as much... Hope this helps ❤️

    • @Elemenohpea440

      We use and extra large swiffer sweeper under the bed. It can go almost flat and really grabs all the dust and stuff (socks and underwear🤔)

      Cleaning is never a 10 to 15 min. clean. Just cleaning the master bedroom the way she was doing it would take me hrs. I'm older now and I need to take breaks about every 15min. I get overwhelmed then I end up not doing any cleaning done at all.

It’s super helpful that you explain the WHY & you’re detailed but don’t drone on and on 🤗… And I think your home is beautiful .. But I love that it’s not a “museum “ .. it’s a family home 🏡 ! Also on a personal note, I grew up in a chaotic home with lots of neglect.. Cleaning was NOT a priority so I didn’t learn how to do these things properly from my mother… So it feels like I am now 🙏🏻 THANK YOU

    For vinyl shower curtain liners, instead of replacing them, you can throw them in the wash with your towels. They will "agitate" the liner and it comes out like new. The towls won't retain the grime, either (as long as you're using HOT water).

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much, I’ll try that. The current liner needs to be cleaned. 😊

    • @bridgettel8217

      I have to do this because when I installed my curved shower rod I went a little too high (because I hate when shower liners hit the bottoms of tubs. Mine is about 2-3" from the bottom). So anytime I buy a shower curtain/liner I have to order from Amazon and pray they have my size. And instead of using bleach, I use vinegar now.

    Which cleaner do you recommend to clean baseboards, walls and cabinets? That won’t leave a film or sticky?

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  9 месяцев назад +3

      I use my mop of walls, cabinets, and baseboards. Hot water, 1 Tbsp powder Tide, and 5-6 sprays of Dawn Powerwash.
      Baseboards alone, magic erasers are my go to.

    What is the duster you use for the ceilings? Great video!

      I use extended handle Swiffer dusters (360 preferred).

    How often do you clean the glass sconces on your overhead lights and ceiling fans (Or any glass pieces, for that matter)? Also what method do you prefer (take them down to clean, wipe them where they are, or???).

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 года назад +3

      I clean them quarterly unless they need it sooner. I hate taking them down because I’m afraid of dropping one accidentally so I clean them while they are still intact.

      I clean mine every 2 to 3 months. I use a swiffer duster on them in-between deep cleaning. If they stay clean, I only clean every 6 months, removing the glass covers and washing. 😊

    Where did you get your duster? I have tall ceilings and that would be a lifesaver!

      I found it at Walmart but have also seen it at Target.

    I use my swiffer mop and dusting pads or micro fiber cloth to wipe down walls. Twice a year. I can't believe all the dust and cat hair on the walls. Then I wash them. 😊

    OMG you just showed me how to get the mop head off the red piece! I’ve had mine longer than I’d like to say and just been tossing the whole assembly into the washing machine 😳
    Thanks for the tips!

    What is your cleaning solution for you cabinets?

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 года назад +6

      It’s 5-6 sprays of Dawn Powerwash, a Tide Pod, and hot water. I used this same mixture to clean the floors as well while filming this video just to test and it worked well. 😊

      It can… I’ve had times where it took longer because the stains were deeper and needed more cleaner.

    I bought a steam mop recently and it was seriously the best purchase ever. I use it on walls and cabinets, trash cans, rugs…

      The steam doesn't damage ur walls at all? This is interesting if it doesn't.

    Many of the disinfecting products do tell you to leave them on for about 10 minutes for them to disinfect, however I notice that the product seems to dry in about 5 minutes, it's almost like they just want you to use up their product quickly.

      I agree. I always have to spray a little extra to be able to wipe the surface at the 10 minute mark.

    I'm curious, what is the purpose of the fabric softner? And I've never heard of Tide pods to mop floors 🤔 intrigued

    • @RachPlusFive
      @RachPlusFive  2 года назад +2

      Apparently, the fabric softener repels dust from building up on the walls so you have to clean them less often and the smell lingers for quite a while.

    • @JessDEdwards
      @JessDEdwards 2 года назад +1

      Fabric softener is flammable so be careful with using it all over your house.
