- Here's another crossbody bag made using a front zipper. This is fully lined, and rather that adding bindings, this tutorial shows you how to have neat edges inside.

Oh yes I like the slightly bigger one too and look forward to popping in on this Saturday to see in person how they are. ❤
I better remember to take them to the shop. Are you coming to town Christine?😁
We are driving through on the way to a workshop at Robertson 😊
I like the bigger size as well. Maybe even a little bigger. They are lovely. Thanks for sharing.
I think a bigger one would be much easier to sew up too Cynthia😁
You are a super good teacher!❤️🌷
Thank you Maria😀
Lovely bag Christine. You keep our minds busy. Thanks heaps!😊
You’re welcome Janet. Thank you 😊
Great tutorial. Learn something new each time I watch.
Thanks Dorothy😁
I really liked how you demonstrated threading the straps in the hardware, and popping the hardware into the top of the bag as well. I like both strap ideas, as my machine sometimes gets angry with the webbing. The bags are so fun! 😊❤
Thanks Sharon😁
Thank you! I've created a Christine file for your tutorials. Now, I can find them right away!
That's awesome Linda. Now you'll never be stuck for a project😀
Great tutorial as always thank you Christine. As I’ve mentioned previously I’ve only a level entry machine so I think I’d find these a bit difficult. I like the larger bag best. Perhaps you could do a tutorial on a bag but with an opening at the top with a flap closure. Lined of course😊 Thank you once again. I really look forward to your tuts as I’ve learnt so much.
Thanks Gerry. The bag with a flap is on my list. I hope to get it done very soon😁
I like the bigger one, may try to make one of these for my niece. Thank you for sharing
You’re welcome BJ. Thank you😊
So cute as always. I likes the red one.
Thanks Corina😁
I’m going to have a go at making the bigger bag now that I’m getting a bit more confident, thanks to your excellent guidance.
You can do it Catherine. The bigger section at the top of the zip will be much easier😁
Huge thanks for taking us through this make. Beautiful work
My pleasure Kathryn. Thank you😁
It is so nice to see at the beginning what you will be demonstrating. Time is precious and if my interest is peaked, I can always save it for when I actually have a good stretch of time to follow along without being in a hurry. Thiis a great bag and I appreciate your input of the pros and cons, other changes possible. You are truely a teacher with marvelous ideas to share...my thanks to you.
Thank you Dorothy😁
I learn so much from watching your tutorials. I can't wait to try making this bag style. Thanks!
Thank you Rosa😁
Another winning tutorial! You explain so well, you are a natural teacher. I’m going to give these bags a try. Thanks for showing us. I think they are going to sell really well.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I hope so Debbie. If you make these ones, it'll be easier to have a deeper gap above the zipper area😁
I like the previous bags as well. When I make this one I’ll add an inside pocket or outside. Or maybe both we will have to see. Thanks for all your hard work at making these projects for us. I’m learning newer ways of techniques in doing things. Thanks again
Thanks Sarah. I might have to do another with an outer zip too😁
Love your videos. You have inspired me to collect upholstery samples and make bags. I think I will use them to raise $ for a couple of charities.
That's so wonderful Susan. All the best😁
3 more bags to add to your fabulous collection - hope they are good sellers for you. Thanks for another well explained tutorial. Spring is finally starting to appear in the garden, so maybe your weather is a bit cooler these days; not so hot 🥵 Best wishes to you both 😎
A scorcher today Lesley. We're having a late Summer😁
Love the cross body bag. A must make for me . Thank u u are a great teacher 💓.
Thanks so much Eileen😊
WOW i done table runners that way, but never thought of doing a strap how awesome, i will be doing all my straps that wat thank you for all you do
You're very welcome. Thank you😁
Hi Christine I love all of the bags but I think I am going to make the bigger one. I don't want to take on a challenge that may not work for me. As i get better and more confident I will move to more complicated projects. Thank you for your step by step videos, they are really helpful. Cheers.
You're welcome Barb. Thank you😁
Excellent make Christine.
Once I’ve sorted some fabric pieces I’ll be making some for pressies.
I’ll probably add an interior pocket for pens and sunnies to save them falling to the bottom under everything else.
That's a great idea Dduncan😀
Love this video. Definitely going to have a go at making the bigger one. Thank you very much 👏
You’re welcome Sandra. Thank you😊
Thank you for such wonderful details!
You are so welcome Jane. Thank you😁
Thank you again for a wonderful tutorial! These look so cute and you make it easy!
Glad you like them Kim. Thank you😁
Great tutorial as usual. I really enjoy watching these. As for the bags... I like that the design is different, but think having the zipper on the front of small bags makes it awkward to get into sometimes. But it shouldn't matter quite so much for the larger bags.
I agree. A larger bag would be better suited to the front zip😁
After you place the tape and before you remove the 2nd protective strip, try running your nail across the tape to secure to fabric. Makes it easier to remove the protective tape and it will stick better to fabric.
Thanks Jana. I think this is a bad or old batch of tape too.😁
God bless love them all
Thanks Leticia😀
Great tutorial! This question is for anyone, I don't know what binding for this project is? Do you have a link for your other cross body. The one you like better? Thank you for all you do...🥰💋
Thanks Sue. I think the only video I have with binding inside a bag or pouch is this one. ruclips.net/video/eb9nVASO3Uk/видео.htmlsi=1DbM_b_BhRhdwGJD I'm not a fan of bindings, so try to convert other patterns to have enclosed linings😁
hi - very good instructions as always. will have a go at it i think. thank you
Thanks Catherine. This one was a little fiddly at the top😁
Hi Christine, @ChristinesHomeAffairs I wanted to let you know that I took a similar cross body tote pattern & attempted to use your technics for putting the bag together without the bias tape. I accidentally marked the top with the first measurement for boxing the corner, (when I wanted to do the 2nd way with a larger top). I found it very difficult to pull the box corners together at the top AND keep the tag (hardware) there and sew through all the thickness. 1) I used fusible fleece on the lining and outer fabric because I wanted a stiff bag, but I’m afraid the layers made it too difficult to pull them together and get a crisp looking box corner. My mistake. The ring/tag fell down into the bag a few times. 2) the other pattern (which I had started before finding your video), consisted of 9 2.5”x9” strips sewn to create the outer fabric. I wanted a larger bag so increased the size and added a bit more to it. I had trouble getting the panels in just the right places.
3) I also added a zipper pocket inside. Unfortunately, it ended up on the wrong side when I sewed it to the outer fabric. Instead of seeing it on the back when you open the bag, it appears on the front.
4) I’m still happy with the finished bag. Rather then be upset, I’ve decided to look at it as all learning, on my journey of bag making. This is the ninth bag/tote I’ve made. They’ve ranged from cell phone size bags to the overnight duffle or carrier bag with zipper, pockets on inside and out with different straps/handles.
5) I appreciate your willingness to shared your knowledge with us. Thanks Christine!! 😊😊
4) That's just how I look at it Kay. Mistakes are a great way for us to learn. I'ts been the best education for me😀
Thanks Christine another good video hope they sell well for you will get myself 0rgaized to make some of your products keep these videos coming
Thanks Pamela. I hope you get to make some soon😀
Another great project. Really like the handles. You make working with tape look easy to do. I tried but I was worse than a cat with tape stuck to it-not a pretty sight or fun.😅 Thanks for lesson.
haha, some of those tapes are very sticky Sue. Unfortunately, those also seem to gum up the needles😁
Yes I agree love the bigger one also, not so fiddlee lol!
Most definitely. Thanks John😀
Tbh, not my favourites. I'd rather have the zip on the top. But as always, clear and concise video. Thanks Christine
I think I agree with you, though a bigger version might work better😁
I love these, particularly the larger one in the upholstery fabric. Unfortunately for me I got totally lost when you were sewing the top sections together so this is a bit beyond my expertise at this stage but they look really great
Thanks Pauline. The top was fiddly for me too. I think I'll make a larger version, and a little clearer too😁
Hi Christine 😊😊
Hi Betty😁
Ok ! This I got to be patient and go slow ….and I prefer the bigger one . I have fat fingers and therefore I need the bigger gap to work with …Hahaha.
I am not sure which cross body bag I should make cause you have several versions .
I like slip pocket at the back to hold my cell phone ….do you have a version of with that ?
My current crossbody …the strap is coming away from the body of the bag so I need to make one soon.
Let me know if you have a cross body with outside slip pocket …..
Thanks 🙏🏻
I don't have one with an outside slip pocket yet Berneice, but will add it to the list😁
I would like to make a crossbody bag for my granddaughters they are 6 and 8 Do you have a video or can you recommend a video with size for strap
Evelyn, I have a playlist for crossbody bags that might help. The straps can be made to measure for the girls😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs Thank you I really enjoy your channel. Your Mom is special I love her
❤
That srap is nice but lots of work, I was wondering how to do it.
It is a lot of work. Perhaps limited to more special bags😀
😀👍👍👍
Thanks Arvetta😀
Could we have measurements in inches????
Linda, I've provided both metric and inches in the video😀
Pretty, but too much work for me.😆
I understand. This was a bit fiddly for me too😁
