$459 for what's essentially a dumbphone!? That's TOO mucH
If this had a lower price tag it would be a decent phone to carry.
The price is absolutely insane.
"T9" is predictive text. Say you want to type "hello", with T9 you'd press 43556. Most dumb phones have an option for predictive text, I wonder if this mudita does too.
T9 stands for "text on 9 keys"
@@goodereader yes, that's correct. It doesn't invalidate what I said. T9 was originally developed by Tegic Communication as a form of predictive text, and licensed to various device manufacturers. The input method which requires multiple presses of the same key is generally called just alphabetic.
@@JarodWilkerson thank you valiant keyboard Warrior
You really seem to have your focus priorities quite nicely solidified
If you think it’s too simple, then it’s not for you. It’s bizarre to call a phone that’s supposed to be as minimal as possible too simple. The price is the real issue. It’s something like 3 times too expensive.
what is the battery life
I rather like it. Many of the limitations actually appeal to me. I might even consider purchasing if it had 5g and I could hotspot reliably.
Needs voice to text function (Jitterbug has that as well as Alexa, and is only $99). Otherwise texting will be largely receive only as typing even a short phrase takes too long. I'd pay $25 for this phone as a backup say in the car on one of those $8/mo minimum cell phone plans. 99% of my phone usage is talk and text so I would be customer for this if it cost $25.
Do you guys have any secret inside info on the new Bigme phones coming out at the end of this month?!
At first sight, it interested me. but after saw the asking price. this is a big no no.
Very good review. The point that I like best is it is the first I have seen other than Supernote where they are already planning to abide by the European Court demand that mobile devices have replaceable parts that can be put in by the user easily. So great for that, but the need to type repeatedly on a key to get letters is definitely too much.
Since your previous 2024 prediction video with Michael Kozlowski was so good, can you do a video about future replaceable batteries and when you might guess that other companies especially Boox will consider accommodating that requirement of the European Court? People would not be so upset with the battery drain of Boox BSR power hungry needs if they felt they could in time just replace an overly used battery that no longer works rather than having to ditch the whole device.
It looked like it had a dual SIM tray. If it had a hotspot setting, you could connect a more colorful device. But we are somewhere between 1999 and 2003?
I need a e ink Google calendar... I ask are there somewhere a display controllers to old Ebook displays compatible with Raspberry Pi?
you are looking for "E-Ink display HAT for Raspberry Pi" there is ton of it. but combining a price with the absert price of raspberry pi. I would rather get cheap Chinese android os e-reader and write a custom android app to it instead.
How is the button feel? Important if you're t9 ing :) Thanks for the video.
Any qwerty Eink phones? Which copies blackberry/Nokia phones?
You kept calling it T9 but that's clearly not what's happening here. T9 is predictive text which means you only would have to press a number one time per letter and it would offer suggestions of words you might be trying to spell.
Technically t9 stands for text on 9 keys, so we are correct. We didn't go as far as to talk about the predictive nature of the typing itself, but we are not incorrect
If it were $200 max it would be a good device, distraction free phone. But for this price? No.
A good phone for 30$
Wait, how is this thing cost more than the Light Phone 2?!
I think the idea is quite but, as other have said, the price they put is way too expensive for a simple phone!
Thanks for the video!
I was thinking to buy it, once you say that price... I changed my mind, I highly consider that the price is overrated.
I'd definitely get one. For $40.
Yeah we were saying that in the studio here, if this was a $90 phone, it would be great for buying a bunch of them for your employees of a company or something
Man I just want an Android e-ink phone that does not come with some type of restricted Google Play. I seriously need full Google Play compatibility to do almost anything in my country.
What a shame. Maybe Nokia should try making an e-ink phone.
Even at half the price I'd have a hart time to justify the price proposition. This is like buying an old Nokia without the nostalgic factor or being indestructible.
Had this thing had Android, and wifi, and it was sub $150 I could see myself picking it up as a focus phone, or burner even.
This is legacy tech for the price of a midrange smartphone.
Where's the LightPhone 3?
These are like some 15 year old phone features except it is eink
That’s the point. And it’s more like 20 years.
maybe if it was abit more updated like a boox palma but of course made into a usable phone, would b better ?
Remember the Motorola motofone F3 ?,
An E Ink phone for $15
ruclips.net/video/U3R7p5IGvew/видео.html
I have a phone exactly like that but with a LCD panel, it cost $25.
Correct, LCD is in a different world than e-paper.
It is all supply and demand. Anyone can make an LCD tablet for $14 on a Chinese wholesale website
But you couldn't do the same thing with an e-paper panel for less than $160
@@goodereader yeah I know that, the point I was making is that this is completely inappropriately priced. Maybe $100 but certainly no more.
@@azw409 for sure, small company, lack of mass production, and niche screen technology
Definitely amounts to an unfortunate combination
$459 or $45,9 ?
Lol
нужна функция, позвонить деду
Cool video!
In my opinion 459$ for a phone with so little features is madness. It's 10 Times what it should cost. Top Bad because the phone is nice, just very badddly priced.
Not even any good for boomers!
Why anyone would want to buy this phone is bafferling.
Same, but you would be surprised if you looked at sales :)
How nice to know that this content is accessible to everyone and everyone can enjoy it!👀
