FDA Recalls Prolapse Mesh

The FDA this week recalled two companies and three products for female pelvic organ prolapse surgery.
They have to be removed from operating room shelves within 10 days. What does this mean for women who have already had the surgery?
What does this mean for stress incontinence slings?
What’s the difference between pelvic organ prolapse and stress incontinence mesh?

ok, so if the prolapse pelvic mesh is not "used for your bread and butter prolapsed surgeries any more" what procedures are used? I've been to one Doc for consult so far and felt coerced into using the prolapse mesh. I asked MANY questions which annoyed her as if I was "questioning her authority & ability", I want to be better informed when I go for my second opinion, not scared like you rightly point out by the law suites etc. on TV. but if there is "no significate data that supports the benefit to having the mesh vs not having, i do want NOT TO HAVE IT. What other options are the???? Im 64 , happy to get rid of uterus/ovaries, don't care what type of surgery etc., I just want a meshless option......

My 2010 bladder sling caused a hole in my colon causing fistulas between my vagina & (my bladder & colon) allowing feces to come from my vagina & my bladder June 2022.
I had emergency surgery and a stoma was created. In March 2023 mucus began coming from my vagina - then feces again , so I had surgery to revise the stoma and cut as much of the colon stump as possible. I am still fighting mucus coming from my vagina - it’s like sitting in a bowl of tapioca pudding. The last several weeks I’ve had urine coming from my vagina also. The colon doctor said the fistulas can’t be fixed because the mesh has landed on top of the fistulas (they can’t be seen by a cat scan) and it’s too dangerous. I am having bleeding from my vagina because of the irritation from the mucus & urine.
Is there any way the fistulas can be plugged or something so the mucus comes from my rectum??

How do I find out if doctor has done removal surgery ? My mom gonna go with OBGYN I think she needs specialist she is scheduling this week for surgery soon. What should I look for how do I locate if and how many surgeries THANK YOU a!!

since they use same material banned for transvaginal but not banned for mesh sling?
