2:12:25 is probably the only legitimate moment in existence I’ve ever seen link truly display fury and anger at something. He’s usually just a chill guy that reacts to everyone else around but here it truly seems like he can’t stand the sight of an injustice taking place right in front of him. Wish we could see more of this link
Even Groose seemed a little afraid of him. It’s like those memes about “when you see the chill friend angry for the first time.”

I've always thought it's soundtrack is one of the most beautiful ones in existance, and I still think so.

This is still the most cinematic Zelda
i've been hopelessly obsessed with this game for 11 years. i've played every other zelda game and now i'm playing totk but i just keep coming back to this specific cast. this link, this zelda, groose, fi, ghirahim... no other zelda game has this brilliant of a cast, this emotional of a story. it's just so personal. in every other zelda game you play as a brave knight saving/helping a noble princess but, even though link and zelda have huge roles here as well, they're just regular ol' teens at their core. their relationship is so intimate and their emotions are so strong. all this mixed with the exquisite supporting cast, spectacular music (best in the series i'd say) and gorgeous world-building... skyward sword will always be my favorite game ever. nothing comes close

@@hawks-wingsI think for most people it’s a combination of frustrating mechanics and lack of freedom. Part of why I think OoT and BotW are so popular specifically is that they focus more on gameplay than narrative, which a lot of people only care about at a surface level.
It’s easier to feel like the story is good when you’re having fun, even if you’re not really paying much attention and the story itself is shallow. And vice versa, if you’re not having much fun, it’s easy to get annoyed with and start poking fun at the story, which stops you from really taking it to heart and resonating with the ideas it’s trying to share. Not that you shouldn’t put effort into understanding it, just that most people don’t care enough to.
But a lot of the criticisms people have with Skyward Sword have to do with the constant, long segments of dialogue, which can be irritating if you just want to keep exploring. There’s also the constant returning to areas and the exploration itself being pretty linear. Though for me, the story far outshines other Zelda games and more than makes up for some of its shortcomings.

@@hawks-wings i'd say it's herd mentality. its reputation was fine a decade ago until popular youtubers started hating on it way out of proportion. now people won't even give it a chance and just repeat criticisms they heard like "the motion controls make it impossible to play!!!" even though most players didn't struggle with them much lol
@@koguma8823people need to stop saying everything they disagree with is herd mentality. The motion controls absolutely did suck. I tried to go with them when i started playing skyward sword hd and it was awful. It was exhausting and I basically completely lost the desire to play the game. Finally switched to button controls and it was smooth sailing the rest of the game, now probably one of my favorite Zelda games I've played.

People can say what they want about the motion control ruining the game, Skyward Sword will remain one of my favorite just for how much characterization went into Link and Zelda here. Even with the cartoony design of Wind Waker, Link never felt so expressive as he was in this game.
If you think that is good characterization, you need to play more story driven games.
@@quillion3rdoption I'm in no way saying this is the best characterization anyone has ever received in a video game, I'm saying it's the best exemple from the Zelda franchise. Story driven rpgs are my favorites games and I'm a ttrpg player as well. So I was glad to see Link and Zelda be written as something more than blank slate archetypes for once.
TP Link was pretty expressive. Just look at his face when he first meets Oocco!😦
Out of all the zelda games I've played, this one puts a bit more personality on Link and Zelda. The others usually just depict them as taciturn strong characters but you never get to see a goofy side to them or even remotely showing emotion toward on another.

I just finished this game on the switch and links expressions in every cutscene are so good that I was taking screenshots and screen recordings left and right. I lowkey want to start a new playthrough just to capture all of the moments I didnt get because I was too absorbed when watching them the first time

Best game I’ve ever played I’ve loved it since it came out on the Wii, this game will forever hold a special place in my heart. It's a beautiful game I've at least played it more than 100 times and I'm not even joking lol.

I presume based on previous conversations it’s that she wanted to go down to the surface at some point and wanted to ask if he’d come with her, OR she wanted to tell him she had feelings for him

I never played this game but when I realize Demise’s words…… My childhood came rushing back and being like 😱 I couldn’t believe in this moment there were multiple Links and Zelda’s… everything clicked.

Link shows more emotional range in 5 minutes of this game than he does in all of Breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom combined, and I really miss it. Litteraly came here just to see it again
Zelda says Hylia's plan was to reincarnate as human so that she could use the triforce to defeat Demise... but she never does... nor can she... When she reincarnates as Zelda she has no memory of the triforce and she clearly needs to sleep in the crystal to maintain the seal on Demise, so when was she going to get it and use it? Obviously Link is the missing part of that plan, but if she planned for him to get the triforce and use it, why did she need to become human?
She actually lowered herself to a mortal to keep him imprisoned and she did actually plan for link to defeat him.
@@housingfungus2843 The game never says that. She says specifically that she became human because Gods can't use the triforce. She maintains the seal in order to keep Demise sealed away whilst Link finds it, but she never says that she had to be human to do that.

This game takes place at the start of the timeline though.
If you really think about it though, the time travel standard they set in this game makes no sense to endgame cutscenes. They establish this system of “you haven’t been to the past yet so it hasn’t happened”, yet impa has Zelda’s bracelet and Zelda is locked away in crystal thing at the beginning of the game. I still really dig the time travel though, just got some weird inconsistencies from the standard they’ve set in the series

So if Ghirahim went back in the past to release Demise from the seal, couldn’t the Link and Zelda from newer games (like botw) go even further back in the past and prevent him from ever being released? Thus ending the curse bound to their souls? Sounds so easy, but technically couldn’t IT happen????
maybe, but we don’t know BOTW’s stance in the timeline. maybe when tears of the kingdom comes out, we’ll have more clues. and, some suspect TOTK to have time travel.
and, canonically, since skyward is the first link in the timeline (for now), maybe it would be too far in the past
