Hey everyone! I've been getting a lot of comments asking about what sketchbook I use, what brushes, what paints, etc., so I made a FREE post on my Patreon that lists EVERYTHING I use for my traditional paintings. It's a public post, meaning you don't have to pledge to my Patreon to see it (but you're welcome to, I won't be mad lol). Anyway, here it is: www.patreon.com/posts/my-tools-brushes-38142112 If you have any questions, please leave a comment on that post so I can answer there and it can be used as sort of a master post for people wondering about what tools I use.
Just realized that's an acoustic version of Shelter playing in the back 😀 you're a WONDERFUL painter and artist. I cant wait to watch more of you're videos. They're so cozy ☺
I was super surprised when I went to check out more of your videos to see that you didn't have many uploaded! Based on your content/editing/video quality, I was certain your channel was an older one. Super happy to have found your content, thank you so much!
Aw thank you! Nope haha just recently started taking RUclips seriously but I will be making more videos in the future! But I am a full time photographer, used to have a gaming channel, and I used to do cinematography, so that's why I have some experience in filming and video editing :)
i really enjoyed this video - i just ordered some arteza gouache and it makes me feel better about my choice to hear your thoughts on them and to see you work with them. i also love your style :)
I've been obsessed with the idea of wanting to paint clouds after I saw an abstract painting that looked like a sunset and clouds. I'm gonna try this out.
I hope you do! I always love seeing clouds but I always avoid painting them in detail because they seem super complicated, once you figure out the process they're not that bad though!
I have just found your videos. The pictures are excellent and it is my wish to be as good as you! I love the background music also. It sounds like those old fashioned church hymns, very calming. Subscribed😉
There really is nothing better than a good painting of pretty sky! I've slowly been trying to get more comfortable with using gouache as a medium, and I've really enjoyed your videos and your painting techniques :D
Thank you! I agree, I never really practiced painting skies and clouds so I thought it was time to fix that haha I'm glad you've been enjoying my videos, best of luck with your paintings! :)
Thank you so much! Also I'm pretty sure you're the first person who pointed out the one from My Neighbor Totoro, I've posted this on here, on reddit, Instagram and Twitter and nobody seemed to notice 😅
Thank you! I just bought this set and always wanted to try Gouache, and have been using Schmincke Horadam watercolours for a long time and discovered the Arteza brand and really like their watercolours so decided to buy the big box of Gouache to try! I’m excited. Your artwork is very nice, you have so much talent!
This was very informative and enjoyable. - piano music is so relaxing. Thank you so much for making this video. I just purchased a set of Arteza gouache paints and am learning how to use them. I've been looking for "how-to" videos. Yours is great.
I’m so glad RUclips recommended this video. I love the color palettes you chose, and the paintings turned out so beautiful! I hope I get to make paintings like these some day 🥰
I have seen a couple of your videos now ... and subscribed to your account. Lovely paintings you are doing. I wish I would ever get there. Regards from Berlin Germany 🤗
Dude you are amazing! You’ve really inspired me to really get into gouache and it’s so fun. I really enjoy your whole aesthetics too and how you film your videos.
I love these kind of videos and have been looking for ones with a chill guy doing it (nothing wrong with the many female artists or loud guys I've watched on youtube, but they don't feel as relatable to me personally), so I'm super happy I found you! Keep it up and please do more of these if you can, subcribed :)
I just found you on recommendation and i love the quality of your videos not annoying and chill. Also I'd love to ser more from you and teach us your discovered techniques to us more in the future. ❤️☺️
Thank you so much, I'm glad to hear that (and that RUclips recommended me to you, that's nice haha), I will definitely be putting out more content, I've been busy with life and deadlines but I'll have new content ready very soon :)
This is so inspiring an calming. I really like... I just really like sky and clouds. You should see the art book "A sky longing for memories" (just in case you haven't seen it before) Cheers.
Hello dadozilla. How are you doing? I love my himi miya 56 gouache set. Its a mazing gouache. The 56 set from miya was exactly what i was looking for. I tryed the arteza gouache but i don,t like them. I love you,re mini paintings. I wanna paint pine tree,s and (pink) clouds too😊👋🏾😋👍🏾✌🏾 have fun painting
I finally got these paints after they were sold out for months. Trying to teach myself how to use them since I’m stuck at home anyway but I won’t be anywhere near these paintings of yours. But they’re fun. Going to attempt some sky paintings now. Thanks for sharing! Also a new scriber👍🏻
Thank you so much, yeah things have been going surprisingly well, I think the RUclips algorithm likes my stuff which is weird because I always have to fight against social media algorithms 😅 I promise I will remember each and every one of you who supported me so early on and is helping the channel grow, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it 🙏
Im been obssesed with gouache video and i think im gonna buy them next time instead of miya gouace cuz i dont like to create colors and i dont know how tho, im a beginner so its will be my second time (i tried one time but that was 4 years ago with cheap gouache from school,) your drawings are really beautiful i love this kind of landscape a lot so relaxing aaah thank you for this video 😍✨✨💛
Thanks for tue 60 Arteza Gouache Review, that I actually interested for 👍!! Hope you would paint more mini paintings in your sketch book with your Arteza Gouache... Basically I like your video, your art of paintings and the music background as well ..👍 !! Happy Painting !! Regards from Germany !!
Oh I LOOOVEEEEE my Arteza sketchbook. Idk if I’ll ever be able to test anything else out. I’ve even painted with acrylic on this and it’s great if you stretch it with tape
have you consider making these tiny landscape vid real time or do a tutorial/process vid on them? i love these vids and it would be great to be able to follow along :)
I do plan on doing real time streams of my painting process (either here, or on twitch, but I would then upload the full stream here), and I will definitely be doing some videos where I actually go over the technicalities of my process rather than just show it. These videos are just simpler to film and edit since they don't require voiceovers, audio/video syncing, etc
Thank you so much! And I honestly can't remember, there's a few songs in there from a couple different RUclips musicians, you can find their channels at the end of the description :)
Wow! I really like your artworks and thanks for sharing your talent☺️💕👍🏻 Hello 👋🏻 I’m your newest follower ☺️💕👍🏻 God bless and please keep safe always 🙏🏻
Lovely! I use their watercolors and I like them, but I'm thinking on trying other brands. I'm about to get my first Gouache set (after all this lockdown process ends...) And well, I'm trying to get as much info on Gouache as possible. Thanks for sharing, new sub around here
I had to laugh for a moment when in the last picture you say something about the clouds in the middle being closer to the sun than the others. Since the sun is about 150 mio km away from earth, Id say all these clouds are pretty much the same distance from it, lol. So the light illuminates them all in the same way, not just the ones in the middle.
Hi! I love your videos and I was wondering something - I've noticed you normally use a wet palette when you paint and I was wondering how you combat mould growth? I'm planning on getting some arteza gouache but I'm worried about them getting mouldy if i use a palette like that ://
Hi Ed. I’ve been looking into buying gouache and am looking through a bunch of reviews. Would you say after you’ve painted with arteza gouache that you would use it in future paintings or have you gone back to what you were using before? Love your art! 🥰 you’re such an inspiration.
Hey sorry for the late reply! I've actually added some Arteza colors to my usual palette and I'm just as happy with them as I am with Winsor & Newton colors (my go to). I generally just mix my colors from a few primaries, but I added some extra blues, greens and earth tones because why not and I've been loving them! That said, I've noticed that some Arteza colors aren't as nice as their W&N counterpart. One that stood out a lot was Burnt Sienna, the W&N version is extremely pigmented with this beautiful warm, reddish brown color, the Arteza version is a lot less "punchy" and leaning more towards a cool reddish brown, almost like it had alizarin crimson added in. They're two entirely different colors and I much prefer the W&N version. But to be fair that applies to every brand, the same color can look wildly different even when you compare top brands so that comes down to preference.
sktchup ah great! Thank you so much for your answer! I went and got Holbein because Arteza don’t sell in Europe anymore 🙁 It is acrylic gouache and the colors are so vibrant! I will try out w&n as well to see what the difference is between gouache and acrylic gouache. Thank you yet again for your review and your answer! You’re a wonderful artist
Honestly all the brushes I use for gouache came from a discount bin at an art store. It all comes down to preference, I like synthetic brushes that can give me a somewhat sharp edge and that are flexible. As far as what type of brushes I use, I use a 1/2 inch flat, a 3/4 inch flat, and a size 6 (I believe) round. Sometimes smaller rounds for smaller details, but those three are my main ones.
It does buckle, not a lot of you don't drench it, but it can get serious if you do. It's not terrible though, considering it's mixed media paper (I've tried watercolor paper that buckled just as bad). No tearing at all though, and no issues with the paper fibers falling apart either :)
I use Adobe Premiere Pro on my Mac and I shoot with a Canon 6D Mark II and my Galaxy S8+. Honestly the editing software doesn't really matter too much, unless you need to do some specialized editing that is only available in a certain program. For me, all I really do is cut, add fade transitions and text, import my own audio/music, and adjust exposure, contrast, curves, saturation, etc., all options that are available in pretty much every video editor (except for curves maybe, but you can make do with filters and other adjustments). I just like Premiere because I'm a photographer who already uses other Adobe programs, so I'm already familiar with the UI and a lot of the shortcuts :)
@@dadozilla so it doesnt matter what kind of sodtware/app I use for editing then. Alright. I havent recorded me drawing, before, so I'm trying to figure it out (not too tech savvy, I know basic crap). I tried to record earlier, but I couldnt figure out how to have it overhead of my drawing space without knocking my camera over lol thank you, though ^-^
Not really, at least not in my opinion. Most if not all editing software will allow you to cut, add transitions, color correct, add music, and other basic stuff. To hold the camera overhead I use a gooseneck phone clamp attached to a tripod that I set on the floor next to the table (so it's not affected by the table shaking as I paint). There are similar options that can support heavier cameras too, but they'll be more expensive, try looking for "overhead camera mount" on Amazon to get some ideas :)
@@dadozilla I appreciate opinions, regardless. Especially from people who know what they're doing, more lol I'm just kind of winging it -_-' thank you again for your suggestions =]
I couldn't tell you for sure because I've never tried that one (I actually plan on buying it at some point though), but I've seen some videos of people using them and they seem pretty close in quality. I saw people saying that the Himi gouache gets kinda grainy when mixed with water, which isn't an issue with Arteza. For what it's worth, Arteza's was pretty close to my Winsor & Newton gouache which is professional quality paint, so my guess is that Himi is either not as good or about as good, I doubt it would be better. That said, you do get a ton more colors with Arteza, so that's something else to consider
