Jeffrey Wright Gets EMOTIONAL After Oscar Nom for ‘American Fiction’ (Exclusive)

“American Fiction” star Jeffrey Wright chatted with “Extra’s” Mona Kosar Abdi just hours after receiving a Best Actor Oscar nomination! He said it was “gratifying” to see the Academy recognize him and his colleagues - the film also received a Best Picture nod and Best Supporting Actor recognition for Sterling K. Brown, among other nominations. Jeffrey also revealed how he got the news while “pacing” around his home in Brooklyn and became emotional speaking about his late mother. Plus, he dished on his next projects, including another “Batman” coming down the pipeline.

My favorite actor forever. We accidentally ran into each other at the Brooklyn Flea Market 2014. Literally face to face, caught him off guard and me too. I knew who was immediately, he was right there in front of me. I sounded so stupid and said, Miisstterr Jeffery. He gave me such a look....ha. I was like damn, then I said, I have enjoyed all your work. I could see his face change. I will never forget the day. Congratulations to him, well deserved for a great actor.
