    This isn't a cornrowing tutorial. In this video I share my technique to achieving super neat cornrows / dutch braids on my natural hair.
    The Breakdown:
    My hair is shampooed, conditioned, and detangled first. This makes it easier to glide my fingers through. To make my hair even softer and help my hair retain moisture longer, I sprayed it down with a liquid leave-in conditioner (creamy leave-ins can reduce the efficacy of the styling product). This also helps keep my hair wet and slippery while braiding.
    I used mousse / foam as my styling product. Mousse provides enough hold and makes it easier to execute the style without the stickiness that usually comes with using gel. Mousse also dries faster!
    Before sitting under the dryer, I wrapped the top of my head with two wrap strips to further ensure that my hair dried smooth and flat!
    Treating this style as a "wet set" makes it dry neater, and it also lasts longer! I hope you love this video and I hope you give this method a try (if you haven't already).
    If you would, please leave a comment, share, and "like" this video. Also, feel free to leave questions.

    Love it, Ebony!! And I see you’re using my favorite mousse, too. Thanks for the tip and emphasis on prolonged moisture on the scalp. I’ve actually just recently stopped sleeping in deep conditioners and pre-poos, as I figured the practice was contributing to the troubling scalp issues I’d been having. I hope and pray to see a positive change in my scalp and hair, soon, and maybe my hair can begin flourishing again. God bless you! 🤗💕

    How do you keep the three strands separated as you add hair? I feel like I'm juggling while trying to add hair and separate it from the rest of the hair without letting go of one or more of the strands, and then I end up with a tangled mess or with a bunch of flyaways cuz I can't keep it neat. Please if you could film a tutorial on hand placement while dutch braiding to keep it neat that would be great help!

    Great hairstyle! I actually braid the exact way you braid as well with the hand placements(don’t know if that makes sense) how long do you usually keep them in for?

    Beautiful simple style. I would love to see the alternative style as well. The music/song is perfect for the video. A guess you use a scarf to tie down your hair at night. What is the title of the song and who is the Artist? Always good to see you pop in! :)

    Im going to try using mousse instead of gel. The gel is very hard to do, hopefully I get better detaining results.

      Lavonya Antrice Yeah, gel can make it difficult to get your fingers through the hair.

    Hi Ebony, if someone like me doesn't have a dryer nor a liquid leave in what do you suggest can be used as a substitute to achieve the same result? I would have never thought of mousse.

    • @EbonyBomani
      @EbonyBomani  4 года назад +2

      Amanda Steele you could use a tiny bit of creamy leave-in if you have it, or dilute it. One part creamy leave-in, three parts water and shake well. As far as the dryer, you could wrap your hair with styling strips and use a hand held blow dryer to dry it.
