    In PDQ deploy, how can you tell if the updates will just be pushed and not reboot the target computers? Thanks

    A throne of energy drinks?
    You truly underestimate the powers of some sysadmins ;)
    Isn't a Microsoft contract needed to push out Windows 7 Updates "after" EOL?

    During this lockdown staffs are working from home and they are working via VPN. I have noticed that the pdq doesn't connect to all of the machines.

      There are many possibilities as to why you see connectivity issues to some of you vpn machines. Here are the most common issues: Are they actually connected? Has the IP been scavenged? How long has it been since the console DNS cache has been refreshed? Do you have the proper ports open? -Lex

    The user does not receive a notification that windows updated and should be restarted. The even does not have a button like "restart and update". Do you know how to fix it?

      You could look into sending a message step or use some PowerShell to display a message telling your users to reboot.

    How do you use inventory to know that machines have updates applied when scanning?

    • @pdq
      @pdq  6 месяцев назад

      You could create a collection containing the devices. Check out the collection library for some examples

    Were Collections automatically made with the version types? Or did you have to create them manually by placing each device into its respective window version?

    • @pdq
      @pdq  3 года назад +1

      They are pre-built under Collection Library>Windows Updates > Workstations > Windows 10.
      This will have all builds back to the initial, if you are looking to limit that then you can copy the ones you want and create a new collection that is a little more compact

    I've made a few custom collections based on specific software versions - is there a way to integrate those into my Applications section of the Collection Library, so they are all logically in the same place?

    • @pdq
      @pdq  4 года назад

      You can't integrate into the collection library. PDQ maintains them. You can duplicate the collections you want to integrate with. Select the collection you want to duplicate-> right click and select duplicate.

    Anyway to purge un-needed updates from the repository? Need the disk space

    • @pdq
      @pdq  2 года назад +2

      We do have a cleanup that can remove any installer that is no longer tied to a package. If you open up preferences with "CTRL + ," and click on Repository, there is a button for See unused files. That will show you everything still in the repo not tied to a package, and you can remove them right from there.

      @@pdq Thanks. Tracked this down. Helped reclaim some unused space.

    I wish they would show a way to push out feature updates. I Windows 10 22H2. Thanks to anyone that can help me.

      While technically possible, major upgrades to Windows 10 such as feature updates and Windows 11 migrations are not supported. Both types of upgrades follow the same installation process and are more complicated than installing monthly patches. One potential problem is that the upgrade process will reboot the target machine. This action will kill the Deploy runner service, resulting in a loss of connectivity to the PDQ Deploy console.
      We recommend SmartDeploy as our preferred method of managing OS upgrades and images. This is a purpose-built tool that is designed specifically for this type of scenario. Otherwise, WSUS is a good alternative if you prefer a Microsoft solution.
      If you do wish to use PDQ Deploy to perform a feature update or an in-place upgrade to Windows 11 (not supported or recommended), we have the following resources which should help make it work as smoothly as possible.

      If your device meets the minimum requirements, yes. Deploying feature updates with PDQ Deploy is covered in this article: www.pdq.com/blog/managing-feature-updates-with-pdq-deploy-and-pdq-inventory/
