This was always my favourite map in BF1942. It had land, air and naval battles, beach landings, tanks, sniper vantage points, absolutely everything. The intensity of fighting your way up towards Mount Subiriachi as the Americans was unmatched.
One of the funniest playthroughs I've seen in this map is when the Japanese side was trapped in that mountain with all other victory locations taken by the US. The Japanese troops killed by incessant bombardment with planes, battleship, and defguns from all directions, respawned over, killed again and repeat. The US infantry and tanks trying to end up the game quickly by rushing towards the summit getting killed by insane amount of mining and teamkills. To add the icing on the cake, the remaining Japanese swam towards the battleship when their points ran out in desperate attempt to hijack it (which isn't possible when the ship is controlled by the opposing faction)!
I love playing as japanese and defending this island as long as I could, expecially doing kamikaze things(putting landmine under the tank, crashing my japanese jeep towards enemy tank, etc)

Damn I miss the days when I got home from school and played BF1942. The maps felt so huge back then!

This game have M1A1 SMG and Japanese type 4 rifle.
And you Just Can Use M1928A1 and M1 Grand in BFV :(

This honestly is better, far more maps, secret weapons, you can drive and fire the battleships. It should be remastered or get an anniversary update
