Hello I have a 2004 Pontiac GM Se and I'm losing tramission oil. Its been about 10 months seance I added oil. You think I can pour two Bootle in it. Can you just pour oil in and that's it. I think I can take to bottle of oil. Please answer me. Thanks Renee
Is that the same for a 1999 Grand Am, because I can't find the dip stick on my car either? I took it to the auto parts store and the attendant couldn't find the dip stick either.
Its not as simple as that. I recommend buying the Haynes manual for your car if you plan on doing a lot of your own work. There is a procedure for prepping the car to check the fluid which involves starting the car, running through all the gears and checking the overfill plug while the car is running. Simple pulling the plug to check the fluid is not an accurate way to determine the level.
You're not that bright if you take. Out the whole air filter. You can reach it better. It's burning transmission fluid because you drop the whole bunch around it. SMH
If you remove the air filter cover it's a lot easier to get to the fill cap.
Do you leave the car off when filling?
I have a 02 Alero (same as a Grand Am) 350 000 kms. Most reliable GM I've ever had. For what I paid for it (peanuts) its been a champ.
Is there an update on the burning smell? I think it may be the water pump..

There is a twist off cap clear down you have to really look
Says nothing about how to access that cap.
