  • These Naga boys ratchet up the high jump into an altogether new sport, combining it with kicking, reaching heights well above their own frames.
    Besides cultural performances from various tribal troupes from various districts and villages, the festival also offers an indigenous 'meat kicking' competition which is the special attraction at Hornbill festival in Naga heritage village Kisama.
    It is one amongst the few new activities added as part of the Hornbill Festival this year under the aegis of department of Youth Resources and Sports. It is amazing to witness the youths participating in the competition. The competition involved kicking with two feet a piece of meat, about 5 kilograms, hung on a bamboo.
    The Hornbill festival held in the first week of December shows that with its stunning natural beauty and great cultural traditions, Nagaland can offer a rich fare to tourists.
    Nagaland, with its diverse tribal culture, is a land of festivals. A narrow strip of mountainous territory with rugged hills, emerald valleys, sparkling streams and a rich variety of flora and fauna, the 16th State of the Indian Union has salubrious climate throughout the year. It is bounded by Assam in the west, Myanmar in the east, Arunachal Pradesh in the north and Manipur in the south. Sometimes referred to as the `Switzerland of the East', Nagaland represents unimaginable beauty, moulded perfectly for a breathtaking experience. For the adventurous, the State is an ideal place for trekking and jungle camping and offers limitless possibilities for exploring its lush sub-tropical rainforests, which are a treasure trove of medicinal plants. The 20-lakh-strong Naga people, by nature, are fun lovers, and life in Nagaland is one long festival.

      They are athletic for their size, even then it's not that big of a deal.. With proper training most people can kick this high..
      And about India being unathletic, we lack resources.. At least in my state (Haryana).. I never played any sport in my life.. and I can run 100m in 11.5secs.. My Grandpa was way more athletic than me.. and I know a few guys that are beast.. We lack resources, proper nutrition, coaching and opportunities..

    • @SelftaughtAnimator
      @SelftaughtAnimator 5 лет назад +17

      @chris madsen you have never been to this country, have you ?.. You have no idea how bad things are here..
      Yeah that's true the more people you have, the better the odds are.. specially when we are talking about the best .
      For ex- on average Americans are taller than Indians but when it comes to the tallest person, it can be anyone from anywhere..
      It's not about how many people you have, it's more about how many people are trying..
      If you mean by resources, that do I have the money ?.. yes, somewhat.. but what can I do with it.. I have been to gyms where state level athlete's train and trust me, a average american wouldn't even go there..
      Whatever man, everybody thinks they are special and better.. maybe you are.. who knows.. you guys are the one winning in Olympics who am I to talk.. I don't even wanna defend these religious fuckteds.. A few months ago a few people killed a athlete because he belonged to lower caste and was doing good..

    • @SelftaughtAnimator
      @SelftaughtAnimator 5 лет назад +4

      @chris madsen sports is okay, it's the education where I feel truly for people here.. students prepare for one of the toughest exams, entrance percentage of getting in these colleges is 0.006%.. One of my cousin is in MIT, I asked him are they really that intelligent.. I mean no new technology comes out of India.. of course he gave the obvious answer, No, they get better funding etc etc..
      I'm getting late, I hope you get the point..

    IDK.... it is just a video about a naga.. but there is some people who is being racist and spreading hate by insulting our culture without even knowing anything about it..... talking about our history and religion.... really.... it amazes me how one can judge some race without having any facts.... I really wish they will educate themselves with facts before throwing venom at people.... ps:its not only this video but even in other videos specially if the video is about a northeast region, some people comes up with hate.....
