Ok Martin, now I have to go out and buy a cat. Then I have a reason to buy a droid body… I saw Brian's reveal first, before seeing the notification from you (already a subscriber). Your video blew my mind!!!!!! The amount of work you put into just the production of the video is so far beyond my comprehension. The build itself is perfection. The animation on the screen you used in the final reveal was over the top. Adhesion Promoter sounds like something that might need to be procured before long. Thanks for that. Also, that is not the PowerPoint I learned in college (nearly 20 years ago…my god, has it really been that long?). I always thought of PP as a cheap and cheezy design medium. But you have shown me a unique, creative, and amazing new side of it. (note to self: in addition to new cat, get tablet. Oh! and speaker.) I was blown away by the instruction manual you made for Brian's gift. That was the pièce de résistance of the build. Right up my alley. There are so many design elements in this build that I love…and might need to steel. New ways of using laser cut parts, that I hadn't thought of yet. Brilliant, brilliant build my friend. How are you going to top this? What's next?
Well... I am going to make videos of smaller, shorter projects. BUT I already have a companion droid (also using a cat litter canister for the body) in mind. Thank you for your kind words, Deanna!
This was an amazing 🤩 build. This was straight out of STAR WARS. It also looks like a big brother. To the GravaStar Bluetooth Speaker droids. I also really love ❤️. As the video would cut to. A movie 🎥 cut short scene. It was like this droid build became a movie 🎦. You sir have a new subscriber 🎉. Keep up the great work. Thank you for posting this video 🎉.
I loved the cameos. Star Wars builders on RUclips really are a community. That looked excellent but I'm reluctant to use margarine tubs in any of my builds. I use them a lot to store small parts but they seem to invariably bio-degrade and become brittle after a year or two. Not a problem when storing parts, I just replace them but I've never wanted to use them in a project for this reason. (Maybe it's just the plastic used in the brand of tub I get?)
Absolutely fantastic build, Martín. Your approach to designing/implementing the interface is really clever. I would have never thought of that. Brilliant.
Here from the smugglers room, you got a sub for the inside the box bit alone! Lol hilarious. Really channeled your inner Solid Snake there. Looking forward to the build.
Spectacular build sir! I appreciate the use of everyday/found items in the creation of your masterpiece. After seeing the reveal on Smuggler's Room, I had to come see the build - definitely earned the subscribe. :) Keep On Keepin' On!
This is fantastic! Is there any chance you could post a step by step tutorial in making the PowerPoint interface? I would love to be able to add something like this to my room.
I really enjoyed seeing the awesome droid you created, the idea is very original. I'd love to have something like that introduced into the Star Wars universe. 😁
That came out amazing! I am honeored to have a small part in this video! The funny thing was I recorded this at 1am in the middle of doing props for the movie you were joking about! THIS IS AN AWESOME DROID!!!
Martin, I saw Brian's unboxing video first then promptly hit the link to this video because my curiosity was peaked. Your video production was first rate! Brian my have to take some notes because you just raised that production value bar. The build was awesome. Thanks for showing the paint problem. That same issue affects most makers I feel. The tablet UI steals the show. Everyone wants more info on that! Thank you for a very informative build video.

As a fellow droid builder this is utterly inspiring and mind blowing! Such simple processes that work great! For example I didn't even know you could make a PowerPoint presentation like that. Now that I know I'm def making one 😆 AMAZING WORK! Also from a content creator side this video was very very entertaining to watch. Great use of Powerpoint! I do the same for alot of my GUI interfaces, such a powerful program! FYI the auto launch feature could be used on an android tablet too, using Target Home Launcher, you can have any program start as your homescreen so you could select the powerpoint file to open each time android starts - seamless interface!😁
You know... I originally wanted to do this in an Android tablet, BUT PowerPoint for Android does NOT support auto-rotate, so the presentation was sideways. Rather than do everything from the beginning (it IS a complex animation, after all) I opted to find a cheap, used Windows tablet.
I've been pondering building a steampunk/dieselpunk/cyberpunk jukebox for several years now but after seeing this I think you've just changed my direction. I was surprised by how well those margarine tubs worked for the feet (though do I think they are a bit on the small side proportionately to the rest of the droid). When you started looking for a found object for the feet I really expected you to use a rectangular, plastic flower pot. Amazing looking build, I'm sure that the recipient was thrilled with it (off to watch the reveal video after I finish typing this). I'm going to start giving a juke-droid some serious thought now... hmmm... maybe something along the shape of Imagineering's J4K3?... (is that how you droid-spell "Jake"?...)
Well... I named mine JK-BX1 for Jukebok, but I did start naming it "Jayke". I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The margarine cups worked out remarkably well, BTW.
Woof! Gorgeous creation indeed! The droid is marvelous, but woah, even the video is a tremendous work of art!!! You say you are learning from others, but worth pointing out some of us will be learning from you ;-)
Well... you don't HAVE to, but it sure helps; it all varies on the material (and whatever it has been treated with). However, with this container I tried sanding AND cleaning with alcohol, and it did not help much. The adhesion promoter, however, did the trick. And, if I may confess... (in the words of Anakin Skywalker) I hate sanding.
Question: what are the horizontal greeblies on the back that make up the horizontal stripes- they look like metal pieces that have cut outs where some look like the letter E?
I plan to offer it on my Patreon page soon. Still setting it up (the page). Stay posted to my Facebook page. I will let everyone there know once my Patreon is live.
