Making a simple DIY router jig for the lathe

- In this video I make a router jig for woodturning projects. This jig helps you use the trim router while your project is still mounted on the lathe. It works really nicely if you also use a divider in woodturning.
Tools and materials I propose:
Trim router: amzn.to/3pKtymG
Hole saw: amzn.to/2C0WdND
Table saw: amzn.to/2RBf0nT
Air compressor, nail and staple gun kit: amzn.to/2NMPCIH
Random orbit sander: amzn.to/2YTKsRm
Cordless drill: amzn.to/2A6fTOy
Cordless Impact Driver: amzn.to/2PdidLW
Bandsaw: amzn.to/2pHj49v
Forstner bit set: amzn.to/2A5NPLq
Lathe: amzn.to/2yq4bMI
Wood turning tools set: amzn.to/2pH5K59
Chuck kit: amzn.to/2NLQG55

A useful device. And grooves can be made, and pigtails can be carved.
GooD)))))))
Thank you
Thanks for this. I've been researching a way to use my Dremel or a router on the lathe without a whole bunch of hoopla. This is the simple, easy peasy way I have been looking for. I'm going to try making the jig with a bottom that fits the tool rest, so it can just be grab and go... But seeing the stability of your wooden tool rest, that will be my backup plan. Instead of building some big platform and using a cross slide table or some other super expensive and complicated method.
Thanks again 👍
I am glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching and commenting
Excellent jig and demonstration! I’ve recently seen another where a Dremel type tool was mounted on a hinged board on a tool post which offered many possibilities.
Thank you. Dremel could work but it is not that strong for routing.
@@ScrapwoodCity I was referring to embellishing the turning not really routing . Check out Wayne the Woodturner, "Woodturning | oak pot pourri" episode (Mar 20, 2022). There are other videos where he uses different attachments on the tool like a cut off wheel. Thanks for all the entertainment!
Nice work Demitris! That looks like a handy little jig as long as it's not used while the lathe is spinning! But you already know that.... 👍👍😉😉
Thank you. Definitely not working with a spinning lathe. Too dangerous.
Ωραίο εργαλείο Δημήτρης!!!!👍🙂

Congratulations!
Thank you Panos
Well done I like it

Πολύ ωραίο!👍

Very Interesting and I can see some use for it. Do you have a project planned for it in the near future?
Thank you. Yes I've got a few ideas in mind!
that's one useful jig you built there, have you tryed using it with the piece of wood turning in the lathe?
Thank you. No, I haven't. I think it will be pretty dangerous. I wouldn't recommend trying something like that out.
@@ScrapwoodCity Fair enough, but at least now cutting in dado and dovetail joints will be so much easier, thanks for posting, take care.

Are we looking forward to a scrap wood pool cue??
Not really. At least for now!
@@ScrapwoodCity well I’ll keep watching and you keep up the good work!
you lost me 30 minutes ago not talking really does not do justus to showing a good video, why dont you practice talking
I do in my latest videos. Check them out. I have videos in English and in GreeK. Greek videos have also ENG subtitles. And English videos have Gr subs.
The only problem I see at first glance is that the rest is made of wood and could flex near the ends. Great idea 💡 overall.
Actually for a small lathe like mine the jig works fine. But a jig like that would work much better on a larger lathe where you can make it a bit more robust.
