So impressive the amount of work that the two of you completed, such a commitment to your ultimate goal of a dry livable environment. Bless both of you for teaching your community what a true work ethic is. Your investment of blood, sweat, and hopefully minimal tears will forever stand as a testament to the pact you made to each other, and your relationship will always be stronger for the effort. 🥳
Yes... work ethic is an inspirational part of what Kylie and Guy do. It inspires me to work smarter not just harder and I certainly hope it inspires others to do the same. It feels to me we have lost a lot of that in more societies across the globe. Too many people want to experience 'rewards' without having to work hard to get them. That never ends up very well for most of those people, in a variety of ways. That is sad. Resilience and worth ethic aren't things you just naturally have. You have to choose to develop them and that takes persistence, picking yourself up when you don't think you can keep going and keep building. Of course rest and play are an important component of this also.
You know the magnitude of the job isn’t realized by most people until you see this time lapse video. What an enormous sense of accomplishment you both must feel. Relief as well… great job!
That was a monumental amount of labour for two people. So happy to see you finally finish and really looking forward to the limestone tiles. Fantastic work!
After all the trials, errors, setbacks and materials sourcing, the final result is rewarding. Next is laying the lime tiles. But the satisfaction is the dryness, decreased humidity, breathable floors and walls and in time warm floors. No mold. More light, less decay, rot and shifting. Now floors are level. Foundations have increased support. Walls are better supported and less crumbly. An interior more appealing to the senses. Literally "blood, sweat & tears". Well done you 2.
I have been watching your channel since the beginning and this video just brought home how much incredibly backbreaking work you have done! Not to mention the deck for the tent, the shed/ kitchen, and an enormous beautiful garden. Amazing ❤
Well done guys. We began a similar project roughly 3 years ago and we've had many set backs, but I've been using your channel for ongoing motivation and determination, to never give up and never quit. So thank you for sharing.
I've loved and admired the perseverance the two of you have shown over the last couple of years, which must have felt like decades at times. One of the best part was listening to Kylie's exiting "bye" of each episode. Such emotion conveyed wiith a single word. Best of luck with the upstairs reno.
Thank you both for being a light in my morning. You two are amazing. I just know your home will be beautiful and done correctly when completed. I look forward to your videos. It makes me happy to see how you interact with each. So glad you found each other your love for each other shows. Stay safe and happy.
A very good team. I'm sure they have their 'moments' but they've obviously worked out what works for them, for each other and this is a beautiful thing to watch.
That was an unbelievable amount of back breaking work! Once cold weather sets in and you are able to heat those rooms from under foot heating, and the dampness is gone...and the musty smell, then you'll appreciate the labor. This video really shows the hard labor that was involved. You REALLY deserved that short seaside vacation! Thanks for sharing!
They definitely deserved that lovely mini-vacation they shared with us (which I loved - the food was ASTONISHING and the place so beautiful). Looking forward to you guys giving yourself some more of those and sharing some of it with us when you feel up to it.
The cartilage in my knees, or lack there of, is screaming just watching Kylie do all that work. Grats to you both for all the work you've done. It's going to be brilliant when you get finished. I hear you Guy about setting your own finger. I have a finger that has been jammed so many times that it now dislocates when I tuck in sheets, or tuck in a kitchen towel, or stub it on a doorframe, etc. It's never pleasant when it happens.
I so look forward to seeing your videos, I would watch daily videos guys! I know you have jobs and working on the homestead, very busy lives, I just wanted you guys to know I enjoy watching …
Thought I never missed a video but somehow didn't know you dislocated your finger! As a young girl playing volleyball with my older brothers and their friends I dislocated my first finger. One brother held me while the other "popped" it back into place. I have since dislocated most fingers and shoulders and have put them all back in place myself. Glad you were able to buckle down and do it yourself.
I'm continually impressed with your work ethic and dedication to getting this right. Just a side comment on Portugese medicine: I went to the clinic in Evora with food poisoning and a bad reaction to an antibiotic a couple of years ago while on a Bike tour. They had me all straightened out and on my way to recovery very efficiently despite the fact that I don't speak Portugese. I was very impressed.
As we near the end of our twenty years plus working on our home with life interruption some projects have taken longer but the satisfaction of completing is very rewarding.Hats off to your perseverance on your projects.
I am subscribed to several restoration/renovation channels (a few are not strictly DIY). Your project is by far, the most impressive. The extensive research you do and information you provide us, is fantastic. On top of all that you are so much fun to watch and the mind boggling physical labour you put in, is incredibly inspiring.
What an epic time doing that, in awe of your work ethic, dedication and skill set. Just an absolute masterpiece of doing what you love to achieve a finish to be proud of. Favourite channel by a country mile !
I’ve watched along the way but to see it all today in one go just shows your back breaking efforts and achievements. It’s great watching you both. 🏴
I have a newfound respect (not that I didn't respect yall before!) about exactly HOW MUCH hard work you 2 put into this.. I watched the progress over time.. but this video really just displays just HOW MUCH work you two did! Bravo!! noe bottle up that energy and determination.. I'd like a bottle or a dozen!
Applause 👏 well done. Excellent video for your Make Do segments. Mentoring other DIY builders and BTW there are so many in Europe at this time. Restorations are a real commitment for sure.
Yes, absolutely. I, too, found the music to fit to the bustling in the floors. And in the meantime of all that you earn your living. Love the way you tell your stories. Thanks a lot.
My gosh, this was a monumental task! And you two stuck with it! You both are hard workers, but Dang girl you are a work horse😮. You both have been working your butts off. The transformation will be stunning ❤❤❤
A dislocated finger- I had exactly the same experience! I felt calm as I pulled at the finger as I just didn't want to have to go to the hospital with it. I even let my friend have a go, but she didn't have the strength to do it. I'm still amazed that I managed to get it relocated... It's permanently got a bend in it now, though.. :D
PHEW. That was a lot of work you both did seeing it all put together in a ff. Think Kylie might need a new knee pad after all that. You were brave Guy putting your finger back into place, we don't land well as we get older do we. That floor is looking fabulous, now can't wait to see the tiles go down. Happy Easter to you both xxxx
Congrats on the floor AND for overcoming squeamishness about putting back your dislocated finger! One does what one has to do in the face of adversity when there's a very good reason to do it. 🎖
Wow! That was really satisfying to watch. That whole saga did take quite some time, so much so that you forget all the "in between" details. Watching in one go only reinforces just how really hard it was. I say this a lot, but well done guys.
Amazing performance you two. Congrats on finishing such a big step towards your dream home. I hope you’re better now Guy. Curious to see next videos and accomplishments! Have a great Easter time 💪
Amazing guys. Congratulations! Now; what I reeely want to know is what Kylie's playlist is on her headphones that keeps her going like the Duracell bunny..
Congratulations to the both of you!! Completing this floor has been a massive project (really multiple projects) and it has been a joy to follow along for the whole thing. What an incredible accomplishment! I look forward to following along for many more, thank you for sharing with us!
Impressive. It is so worth the extra step to insulate and create a comfortable space. I have been following since you moved there. What a transformation so far. It is no easy task.
love everything about this, the environmental consciousness, the strong women figure, the detailed step-by-step, the problem solving and of course the effort to up this up as time lapse. congrats
'No animals were hurt during the filming of this vlog'...But the humans...👀 God love'ya. Well done re sorting your finger out... the quicker the better, you did great. 💞👏👍🥳💞
Martijn is from the Netherlands and is renovating stone cabins on a mountain top in Italy. Like you he lives in a tent, has an outdoor kitchen, solar panels and works like a dog renovating. It's been interesting to watch both projects on RUclips. I'd like to see more of how you fair living in a tent. Is it scary during the night or during storms? Do the cats sleep with you? Do you have critters or creepy crawlies invading your space?
I am so pleased for guys on this epic milestone. You must feel so proud (even though it’s not quite finished yet 😉). No wonder you went to Nazare to rest and celebrate!
Something to be proud of and even nicer when it's tiled and you.walking around with bare feet and the heating is on then you will appreciate all your hard work 😊😊😊😊😊
An amazing amount of time and physical labor! A labor of love! Congratulations! I have been watching from the being and I am excited to see what is next! 😊
An amazing example of perseverance. My hat off to you. Your attention to detail is so satisfying to watch. Gives me, and I'm sure, you as well, a great sense of achievement. Onwards and upwards.....thanks for sharing. Have a super Easter.❤😊
Amazing work. I really enjoy getting educated on natural materials, and everything else this channel is doing. I am proud of all that you guys have accomplished. I am rooting for your channel to grow even more.🍺🍺🍺
Wow,congratulations .You will soon have a home fit to live in for winter.Enjoy your spring and summer.Hope your finger is healing.Happy Easter to both .😊🎉
Wow nice time lapse, it shows the process really well and all your hard work, including your finger dislocation! Hope all is well. You can be proud of yourself
Great video, thank you. We are embarking on a similar mission in France and have very similar floors. it's kinda terrifying seeing the amount of digging ahead of us... especially considering most of my time has been spent digging already (since we arrived); house, garden, terrace, and drainage etc. Thanks again, I appreciate not only the labour but the time to make the films too. All the best, Lewis.
Related to the extensive work for the cellar floor was the perimeter drainage that you did - by hand - around the outside of the building. When it's all complete you will have a dry, snug place, warm in winter and cool in summer, for comfortable living. Your hard labor will have paid off!
Just watched this vlog You two are absolutely incredible What you have achieved with your floor is nothing short of amazing Your work ethic is incredible too You will have a beautiful home one day & you both deserve it Love to both of you Andrew 💐💜
Oh my word!!! You guys are awesome in the true sense of the word! Your work ethic and determination is amazing. Kudos to you - just love watching your progress. Thank you for sharing.😁
Just a thought (and one you've may have already had) but giving your chickens access to the dirt you dug out of the house will turn it into soil (GOLD) with the chickens natural scratching, the addition of garden cast offs and the girls "natural" additions in a fairly short amount of time. I use my girls yard to collect all the trimmings from the property and they give me wonderful compost for my garden by the barrow full.
The heavy breathing in the music set to the visual of all the hard work/digging is funny!! Love your videos!!
So impressive the amount of work that the two of you completed, such a commitment to your ultimate goal of a dry livable environment. The level of accuracy in your work!!! Makes it so satisfying to watch your videos 👍🙏
I was exhausted just watching this video and amazed by the amount of work you two did. Great job! Note to self, never buy an old stone house. 😊
After all the trials, errors, setbacks and materials sourcing, the final result is rewarding. Next is laying the lime tiles.

*Kylie & Guy, CONGRATULATIONS on finally completing the floor in that area..... so much hard work for you both.*
Becoming Portuguese is a labour of love of manual work. Your apprenticeship is coming to an end. Cheers.
Well done guys. We began a similar project roughly 3 years ago and we've had many set backs, but I've been using your channel for ongoing motivation and determination, to never give up and never quit. So thank you for sharing.
Great to hear this. Don't give up.
Kylie and Guy! you are one of the most amazing hard working couple I’ve ever seen. It is really nice to follow your journey ❤❤
I keep imagining you at sunset with a glass of wine remembering all the hard work so many years ago.
Beautiful concept and work. Can't wait to see the tiles go in.
A mind blowing effort, congratulations to you both for a brilliant job 👍🥂🥂
Oh my gosh! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! What a milestone!

You two have really changed that place! Great music!

It’s going to be so beautiful when you’re finished!
Ouch !! 🖖🏼
the floor look amazing guys. I should think your over the moon now that this mammoth task is done 🤩Thanks for the video 😊 Happy Easter 🐣

Watched each individual episode now fascinating to watch again in time lapse.
Thanks for the visual processing of 'doing' the floor ... hope you soon get to enjoy it as part of increasingly living in the house ...
