Avid baker here! Try subtracting a tablespoon or two of flour from your mix and coating the fruit or berries in it and not mixing the batter around too much after you've added whatever you like. The flour helps absorb the juices that come out of the fruit or berries when it cooks so it won't sink as much! Hope that helps and love the videos!
About fruit cake. I have always made a short mix. It's more sticky and I've never had a sinking problem yet. Except maybe that sinking feeling that I ate too much of it. 🤣🤣
As a shrewsbury lad of 33 i really really enjoy your videos, i have converted a camper van myself but at present moment im doing abit of mechanical work, these videos your doing are putting plenty of fuel in the fire for me wanting to get out and explore, my van was done cheap for what it is, if you want any info on anything i did or costs then let me know, the whole thing including the van only cost me about 5k, it has solar panel, diesel heater, sink, fridge, tv........ all good stuff
Hey dude! Great to hear from a fellow Salopian 🙂. I'm glad your enjoying the videos and it would be good to see some pictures of your van setup 👍 send me some on insta 😁
@@BrendanExplores this is going to sound ridiculous but i dont have facebook, instagram or any social media lol, ill see if my girlfriend can send some over on hers
Another fun car camping trip! You definitely make we want to travel over the sea and rent a car to camp in. I've always wanted to visit Britain and feel like I get to with each video! BTW...I'm loving my RidgeMonkey! It was worth the shipping to Canada! Having worked as a cook/baker, I would suggest leaving the fruit to add after the muffins are in their tins. Just plop them on to the top of the batter and they will sink a little, but be more mid-muffin when done.
Cheers mate and yeh you need to come and explore 🙂 you'll love it 👍. Glad you like the ridgemonkey, it's been brilliant for me! Cheers for th tip, that makes good sense
You asked about the fruit added to home baking, toss the fruit in flour before baking and make sure the fruit is the last thing added and gently fold into the mixture this should solve the problem. Like the videos you make me laugh 😂
Only just watched this one, another winner. I car camp in my astra, I lie the passenger seat right back and use a medium size plastic box to raise my feet. It's not as comfy as your set up, but it's good enough for a night or two! By the way, I must have misheard you, what's Matts channel called?
Brilliant video Brendan...food looked great always. Love the look of Hereford, haven't been but will put it on our list. Many thanks for entertaining us xx
My toyota yarris verso has hand rails going all along the side so I can suspend bungee cords from side to side to hang stuff like fabric for curtains. The yarris is a people carrier so the seats fold up under the floor but I still have to sleep diagonal.
Mix any chopped up fruit when baking into just flour in a bowl and toss fruit in it then add to cake mixture your fruit won’t sink then. From a viewer from Shrewsbury too, I live by Lyth Hill wood
Suggestion for Matti. My Juke is brilliantly flat for sleeping due to the false boot. I use a kitchen bin base to fill the rear footwell (can't remember the size, 40L?) Place a couple of bits of board across the top to support my mattress (old drawer base hardboard). The bin itself is useful storage space, although I can still fit jackets, shoes and camping stove around the bin in the same footwell.
Awesome video again mate. I have been car camping in a mondeo estate for last 12 months. Not many trips but mega comfortable car for it as completely flat in back and 6ft+ length Next project is converting a vivaro van.
I'm almost certain that the canisters will not be leaking. Otherwise, they would be empty when you bought them. :) Also, they would not be safe in the distribution chain. Having used adaptors on these types of canister, I've found that to get a perfect seal is not easy. So, could it be a leak within the stove from the canister in use, where the valve meets the stove receptor? Easy enough to smell and even hear, if it's anything more than the faintest seep.
Another great video smashed Brendan! Can`t say i have ever been to Hereford, Although when i was a removal man we moved that SAS about who are based in Hereford. Nice one Steve
Thanks for the tips on the gas canister's..I do some baking but people have already put the answers in the comments.. I've done lots of cooking recipes on my channel you might see something that will be of interest for you for future meals on your trips..
We had that tube heater but it was pretty useless. Maybe they've improved since then, when we bought one for a tiny caravan. It looks exactly the same. We threw it on the skip 🤣🤣
I've a 3 door Fiesta, and with the front passanger seat all the way forward I have a wooden board over the folded back seat and am just able to lay flat. Problem is the lack of space to really store anything and tight access with no rear doors.
It didn't actually get that cold that night to properly test it but I'll be getting out this week in some cold weather to give me final thoughts on it 🙂👍
I think those canisters can leak I have the short stubby ones - best left maybe elsewhere at night covered up outside in the box or get a carbon monoxide detector:0
Hi Brendon enjoying your channel mate.was just wondering how the tube heater is performing? Just got myself a transit connect an toying with the idea of a diesel heater and come across your last video. Also did a 2 day canoe trip down the river wye and finished up at Hereford boat club beautiful part of the world 👍
Hey buddy, thanks for leaving a comment, glad your enjoying the videos 🙂. I'll be properly testing out the tubeheater very soon mate but I would say that a diesel heater would do a far far better job than this tube heater of I'm honest. If I could get a diesel heater ik my car then quite honestly I would 🤣 but needs must. Should be some updates soon on a proper test with it 👍
@@BrendanExplores thanks mate look forward to your up coming vids 👍 thinking a deisel heater may be a bit over kill especially for a car take care an best of luck on your adventures regards Jason 😀
Great video Brendan. Might check out Hereford in our tiny camper too, thanks. Just wanted to know how you got on with the new tubular heater? did you leave it on all night or did you put it on earlier before you got in the car? I've bought one and using it in the house at the moment but will put it in the van when we need to. Thank you so much for the great idea! how was it?
Hey Emma, yes Hereford is beautiful 🙂. I'll be properly testing out the heater this week so there will be a video soon to show how I got on 👍. I didn't need to use it on this trip as it didn't get that cold but I'll definitely need it this week

🤣🤣 that's true and thanks for the tip Maggi 🙂
The muffins coat the fruit or chock chips in flour before adding too mix, this helps them to bind to the mix and not fall to the bottom.🏴🚙⛺️
Nice one mate, cheers for that 🙂
brendan is back!!!!!!!!
Absolutely mate 😁👍
I love what you are doing Brendan, keep them coming.
Thanks mate, good to hear that 🙂
Yes they can leak slightly so best put in container to stop pressure on the red lids because that's why they leak.
Ahhh right, nice one 👍 thanks for the info
