The first solo camp in the van! 😃It's been a long time coming but I finally did it 👍huge thanks to all my Patreon and channel members for topping up the fuel tank ❤🙏if you would like to help support me make more videos then here is my Patreon page 👉 www.patreon.com/brendanexplores where you can help out from as little as £1.99. Thank you! 🙂
No disrespect to your friend you have on your videos but this is what your channel is all about. So nice to see a video with just you alone, talking to the camera. You have a great way of making the viewer feel like it's just you and them on the journey. No other RUclips channel can pull this off like you do. Long may it continue. Thanks for what you do.
That's very kind of you to say mate 👍 I know the feeling of a solo camp can't be replicated with other people with me so I'll definitely be doing some more solo camps. Plenty more camps with friends as well though 🙂. Some people that I film with are very early on in their RUclips journey and it takes time to get used to speaking on camera but I appreciate your honesty and feedback
@@blackporscheroadster-yw8hb Yes, his dad is a great caricature. I wonder what he would be like on a solo camp. Very funny I expect. Brendan should let him try a night.
Great to see you go solo again, clearly you are enjoying yourself. Your new van is obviously working out well for you. Also great you have been 'recognised' by businesses out there to be offered equipment and promote for them. It just shows how far you have come on your van life journey, no pun intended. Always look forward to the next episode, keep up the good work Brendan 👍
Cheers mate 🙂 was good to have the time to appreciate the van by myself 👍. To be fair, I wouldn't of believed you if you told me the channel would be where it is now a year ago. Very lucky and grateful to have viewers like yourself and sponsors who support the adventures 😁. Thanks for your support buddy 👍
I mentioned about a solo camp in last times video and you delivered! 👌 was good seeing you back with a solo video though as much as I enjoy the group ones too! You have some good ecoflow devices now too which help out a lot in your setup, looking forward to another one!
Yeh I've been wanting to get out solo for a while now and I finally did it 🙂 glad you enjoyed it mate 👍. Yeh the ecoflows have really improved the camping adventures, shame the UK isn't really having a decent summer right now lol
People will think you’re a modern day Marty McFly driving around with that flux capacitor contraption on your front seat 😂
🤣🤣 only trouble is mate, I don't think I can reach 88mph lol
These videos crack me up, where you mentioned a bloke might be standing outside. It's as if we are on the camps with you. Awesome video as always.
🤣🤣👍👍 glad that's the feeling these videos give off as that's what I try and convey to viewers 🙂 thanks for watching mate
Discover de crypt (in a Jamaican accent) creased me 😂 The church looked very similar inside to the one in Stafford Town centre Behind the high House 😊 Nice lil stealth camp there B, x
🤣🤣 yeh wasn't sure whether to put that in still but it was funny and meant no harm haha. Glad you liked the video 👍
@BrendanExplores Exactly, everyone who follows you knows you don't have a bad bone in your body B, great video as always 👍🏼x
In this day and age I’m surprised someone didn’t call the bomb squad!lol imagine looking through the window and seeing all those tubes going into a box..then notice the reg plate XPL… haha!😂 thumbs up bud 👍🏼
Mate, it this day and age, anything is possible! 🤣
After I got into vanlife, I see so many more "stealth" vans.
Driving behind someone, seeing the curtains.
Or seeing the roof vent.
Or the very revealing awning, I think that's the most telling thing you can put on the outside of the car. 😅
Roof boxes on "working vans" are also a telling sign that this is probably not used for work, but living. 😉
Once I got the camper, I couldn't stop seeing them! Lol I see them everywhere now 🤣 especially the not so stealthy ones lol
Excellent video, thank you. Where I live on the south coast we get camper vans regularly parking next to our house (suburban area) even one from Italy the other day. I don't mind as long as they don't poop on the pavement or chuck their litter out. So far so good.
Brilliant mate. Hilarious how you were shouting at the camera then the air con went off shhhhsss 😂😂😂. Gloucester looked amazing mate. Very quiet town. Great watch.
ATB Adam 🤜💙🤛
Thanks buddy! Yeh I was farrrrrr too loud when that Aircon was one 🤣 definitely have to visit Gloucester as well 👍 it's a beautiful city!
I have wathed nearly all your videos i just like the format of them its very easy viewing which is calming
Thank you very much for supporting the channel and watching all the videos 👍 I really appreciate that and I'm glad your enjoying them 😁
You were very close at Cromwell Street. Where Fred and Rose West House use to be. It is now a walkthrough.
Oh really?? Wow... Creepy to think I was close to that
The docks and canal were put in to bypass the River Severn bringing supllies via Sharpness, which is obviously tidal. Further down at Quedgeley the wide deep canal was where oil was delivered and stored.
Ahhh right 👍 nice to learn a bit of history about the canal 🙂 thanks for sharing that!
Always love your videos Brendan, you always have something of interest to show us and to talk about. I love that you love a bargain, even better when it’s free, I’m all about that. When I’m doing my van conversion I’ll definitely be looking for an aircon unit, I’m always too hot, 😂
I noticed the private plate too, it’s all come together quite nicely hasn’t it pal? 👍
It made me laugh when you were poking your head into the cab to check the coast was clear then you were like, “ooh car” 😂😂
Hey buddy, thanks for that lovely comment 👍 yeh I put them on a couple months back and people are only just starting to notice now 🙂. I visit come beautiful places in the next video, so I hope you enjoy 😁
Iam thrilled to see you back and sharing new adventures.Your van looks more comfy than the car.
Thanks mate 🙂 yeh the van is a whole new adventure 👍
Hi Brendan. Fair play. I like Gloucester, Cheltenham is up the road. Definitely worth visiting. I am at the Newbury Vanlife Overlander Celebration, good talks about Van life, but not as good a atmosphere as the one both myself and Denise searched for you at.
Still, I feel rested and have done some lovely walks. Loving the fact you are out and about solo again. Life is what you make it. Oh Brendan the weather for July is so depressing, August not looking great either, but has to be better surely.
Not keen on the set up with the air con in the van. I would want something a bit more discreet are you able to hide it a bit more in the van. I am just thinking of prying eyes. I purchased a tiny USB aircon unit, very cheap. It does the job in the car. I hope you enjoyed your stay at Gloucester. I love the fact you think up crazy stuff and laugh at your own jokes. I do the same.
Stay blessed and Safe.
Laughing at my my own jokes is one of my favourite past times 🤣👍 I was able to cover the Aircon unit with a flowery shirt thankfully haha but yeh your right, I need to think of a better way to hide the kit
Cover u windows when u leave the van you got to much exp gear in the front so people cant see in u van when u out and about...
Good point, I'll be covering the gear when I leave the van in the future 👍
@@BrendanExplores id take out that seat that u fridge, Is on and have it so u can get straight from the front to the back without going outside safety issue if there was an issue if u need to leave in the night and u dont need to go outside and make like a enclosure and put u gear in that and cover it
I know a park up in Gloucester it’s by the council depot
Great video chap and good to see you out camping, hopefully you left some noodles for the restaurant though 😂
Thanks Russ and a couple of pots were left for my Korean friend 🤣🤣
Nice one mate :)
P.S .. Kimchi, is a traditional Korean banchan consisting of salted and fermented vegetables, most commonly using napa cabbage or Korean radish. A wide selection of seasonings are used, including gochugaru, spring onions, garlic, ginger, and jeotgal, etc. Kimchi is also used in a variety of soups and stews
I appreciate that mate and thanks for sharing the info! New knew that 😁. Might start trying out some different meals on future camps 👍
@@BrendanExplores I didn't either so I googled it haha thought I would share the new found info ;). Keep up the great work
😳 Shut the front door!! Ok, first time I've seen someone I'm subscribed to, visit my home town 😀👍fun fact 14:07 the motif on the floor to that alleyway, was designed by school children in the early 90's, my school designed the 'monks hood' one, 50 yards down the other side of the street! Good choice to leave the Quays car park, tickets are rife there. Also, a good choice to move on from the park for night spot 😂 Sorry, soooo wish I knew you were coming, would've absolutely hounded you for a selfie 😂😂👍
That looked like a WW2 Daimler armoured car in the docks.
Ahhh really? Thanks for the info 👍
Mate, you were camping like 3 minutes from my house 🤣
No way! 😂 Can you imagine if it was outside your house?? Lol
Well, where you originally parked, in the Docks, I live near there but you would've been mad to stay there overnight - you'd have been the only vehicle in the carpark at night.
But where you actually stayed, that area is slightly dodgy too 🤣 seemed like a good little street though!
Great video mate although that car park by the docks can be a pain
The Potter scenes in the cathedral include the writing on the wall in Chamber of Secrets and the troll in the Philosopher’s Stone
Yeh it would of been cool to stay there but the signs were pretty strict unfortunately. Thanks for letting me know what scenes were shot where as well 👍 I can see the parts now 🙂
I heard Dr Foster went to Gloucester, don't think he had a good time
🤣🤣🤣 I heard that rumour as well lol
I never knew you were a noodle juggler. Obviously a man of many talents!😂
Been juggling noodles since I was 9 years old mate 👍 even got a bronze medal at the national noodle juggling competition 😉🤣
@@BrendanExplores 😂😂😂
I'm surprised nobody thought you were topping yourself with that hose into the back!
Another brilliant video brendan, enjoy watching your van camping xx
Thank you very much, I appreciate that 🙂 glad your enjoying the videos 👍
@@BrendanExplores your welcome, keep them coming 😊 xx
another classic Brendan episode! Love it mate
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it 🙂 next video I head into the Cotswolds 😁👍
@@BrendanExplores beautiful area, thinking of doing a wild (ish) camp there this weekend
Check out Castle Combe 😁👍 beautiful!

I have seen them 👍 looks pretty sweet. Was it hard to do? 🙂
yerrrrr a wizarddddd Brendan !!! Cracking video as usual mate 👍
😂😂 love that meme lol thanks mate, glad you enjoyed watching 👍
Nice seeing a video in my home town 😊. Wish I knew you were there and I'd of said hello.
It's a beautiful place mate 🙂 I'll be hopefully arranging a meet up camp at some point next year so would be good to catch you then 👍
@@BrendanExplores 100%. Try the Cotswolds bend, you'll love it and loads of beautiful spots to camp. Only half or so from Gloucester
Brend not bend 🤦
@@alanpaterson3036 that will be coming in the next video mate 😁 beautiful it was, hope you enjoy the next video as well 👍
Kim chi I think is fermented pickled cabbage they bury it in pots in the ground & tend to it for months & its a staple delicacy
Oh really? I never knew that.. that must if been what was at the bottom of the noodle pot then. Delicious! 😋👍
Bringing back some old school camp vibes in this video enjoyed it mate 👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed it mate 🙂 I really enjoyed filming this one 👍
@@BrendanExplores keep up the great work and enjoy your family time
I love your solo camping vlogs. Iv got same age van with roll down windows. At least you don't have to put key in or start van when needing to open windows in middle of night! If stayed in many stealthy locations :)
Thanks mate and good choice of van if I do say so myself 😉👍. I guess the food thing about roll down windows is not much can go wrong lol
@@BrendanExplores also if you need to get out quixk and can't unlock doors or some reason you can squeeze through either window lol 😆
Great video Brendan! Just curious what happened to your old friend Kurt I’m going back abit now haha hope he is well
Thanks mate and Kurt's doing good 🙂 he moved away from shrewsbuury so sadly we don't see eachother anymore but I would love to bring him back on the channel for a special video sometime 👍
They will be thinking you’re a tv detector van
🤣🤣🤣 can you imagine lol
The outside of the cathedral was used for an episode of doctor who the story fugitive of the judoon with Jodie Whitaker and jo martin
Oh really? That's interesting, used to watch doctor who all the time as well 🙂 thanks for sharing that 👍
Great video..... in conclusion did ya have any issues from the neighbours?? Hopefully not!! It looked a lovely place to visit!!
Thank you 🙂 and nope, not at all... Lovely night's sleep in a quiet cul-de-sac 👍
You parked literally roads away from where I live lol. Shame I didn’t know you were here, we could have had a camp in my field ! Let me know if you are down this way again and we’ll do it. If you’ve not seen the field have a quick look through my vids.
Harry Potter, Doctor Who etc. All kinds of things filmed at the Cathedral and the Docks. David Jason filmed Terry Pratchett’s The Colour Of Magic (Discworld) at the docks, and Johnny Depp was also there filming Alice Through The Looking Glass. Locally we’ve got the Forest Of Dean which was also used for Harry Potter and tv shows like Merlin. You could probably spend a week going round all the filming locations. On the way back out in Cheltenham was the show Butterflies if you remember that one. You are probably a bit young for that though lol
Oh and you should have put your head inside the VR Arcade in town, it’s owned by a fellow youtuber Ramarcus, it was just up from where you parked at the docks, just before St Mary Decrypt :). It’s such a good place if you like VR
Oh really? 🤣 Such a small world lol. Definitely need to do a filming location explore camp 👍. I'm going to be arranging a meet up next year to camp with a few people 🙂. Hope to see you there!
Nice video again ,,,love watching your videos
Gloucester is not very far from me in malvern , so when are you doing a camp in malvern ???
There might some good areas for you to camp around the hills and lower down from the hills
Thanks Andrew 🙂 I'm actually thinking about doing a camp in the Malvern Hills and Cheltenham soon 👍. Looks like a lovely place
That cathedral looked so nice im from new Zealand so interesting getting to see what other places like this look like in different parts of the world 👍thanks for sharing :)
Yeh it was beautiful 😁 and I'm a huge Harry Potter fan as well so it was cool to see where some scenes were filmed. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 👍
@@BrendanExplores I thought it was funny you were out camping and that place had a teepee in it...
When you are locked in for the night like this how do you go to the toilet? It all looks very cozy but I would need to be up in the night !
A very luxurious pee bottle my friend 😉👍
Never noticed the br xpl number plate before nice touch
Cheers buddy 🙂 nice to see someone noticed it lol
Makes me nervous that fridge and electrics on your passenger seat is there no room in the back for them ? Cracking video thank you always enjoy your travels xx 🙏
Good point 👍 I'm going to have to cover them I think in future. Glad you liked the video Heather 🙂
The armoured car is a ferret
Ahhh is that what it is 👍thanks for the info mate 🙂
Great video mate, cost of the fridge and cooler can't believe you leave them on view in the front for people to see, always just think one day someone try there look if you know what I mean hopefully not but always think it when watching you videos,
Thanks buddy 🙂 and to be fair that's a very good point 👍. Think I should probably get a cover to go over the top overnight
Ferret.....automatic 2 man vehicle with Browning machine gun Edward II buried at Cathedral murdered in prison at Berkeley Castle other end of canal and he liked it up the canal apparently 😂
Ahhh that's interesting to know mate 👍 didn't know it was that old
Nice one Bren…👍🏼👍🏼
Cheers buddy 😁👍
I might've spotted you driving around the local areas. Perhaps driving through Woodchester, heading towards Nailsworth?
Do you reckon? Possibly maybe, I can't remember lol. My number plate?
I did see a silver traffic with tinted windows. BR53 🤔 If it was you, I was following right behind!
If your a fan of the Kimchi noodles, you need to grab some bigger versions of the Shin cups, there amazeballs
Ahhh thanks for the tip 👍 any suggestions on where to get them from? 🙂
@@BrendanExplores Tesco normally do the smaller ones on the Oriental aisle, or if your lucky B&M stock the large ones for cheap.. or head into a Oriental Supermarket, you will not be disappointed
Spicy noodles and hot chocolate in the back of a warm van 😕
Did I tell you my van has a sauna in it? 😂😂
Hi Brendan a while ago you did a review on a tent in your back garden. I've gone through your videos but can't see it. Do you have a link please.
Oh yes I remember the segment your on about mate but for the life of me I can't remember the company name or what video it was part of. If I remember, I will let you know 👍 I'll do my best to have a look 🙂

Hey man love the videos, I see a ring on your finger, wondering why you do not include your wife in your camping adventures? I'm married and my wife would never let me go on camping trips without her. Carry on!
Hey buddy, good observation 👍 we actually go on quite a few adventures off camera 🙂. Days out and we've camped in the van as a family. Hoping to film a few videos with them soon but I quite like being able to keep the family trips off RUclips for now but that might change soon 😁
I know they used Durham Cathedral for a lot of Harry Potter filming for a few films but not sure about Gloucester
Might have to give that place a visit as well at some point 🙂. Yeh, after looking it up some scenes were filmed at Gloucester 👍
Kimchi is Korean pickled, chilli
cabbage
Gotta try it one day 🙂👍
Love your videos and all your adventures but....parking in residential areas outside peoples houses is a no no from me. Its not something I'd do myself. Its one of the many things which do give vanlifers a bad rep ✌🏼
Fair comment and I appreciate your honesty. I agree and disagree with that. As a general rule, yes your right but when you are alone, have a small low roof van and are not causing a disturbance of any kind, I honestly don't see an issue or how it could give vanlifers a bad name. If there was mutiple large vans with no care in the world then yes but I personally don't see any harm parking a small vehicle on the public highway. In many ways, parking in a residential area is safer than in the sticks but appreciate you sharing your viewpoint 👍
@@BrendanExplores Yeah I don't why it does give us a bad rep especially doing as you do, leave no trace but it is one of the things I've read about. Not knocking you in any way 👍🏼 Still love your vids 😁

The darkest tint I could get yes and then added with the curtains it's 99.99% black out 😁
It can't be much fun having not much view for the hours between then and bedtime?
You'd be surprised actually, I felt like a kid in a mini base that I had made lol. The addition of the window tints made it more fun for me as well as I could see out but no-one could see it 😉

Glad you liked it Rodney 🙂👍
Why is over-night camping so frowned upon? Surely dogging cant be that prevalent they would do it in a city centre??? You should start up a campaign against this.
I'm totally with you mate 👍 I can't see any harm in staying somewhere for one night, especially if you are self sufficient. The reason they don't like it I think is because then everyone would stop using hotels and just buy campervans etc. That's my thoughts anyway
