Not sure how I got me here I must have exhausted all the 3D printing videos on RUclips... But awesome first design and video I see no reason why you shouldn’t be able to grow to lots of subscribers! I look forward to seeing what you cook up in the future.
Somehow got this in my feed in June 2022. Groovy project! As for "redesigns," I would probably have two full octaves instead of one, a larger drum diameter and/or smaller spaces between the rows to allow for longer compositions, and consider a different material for the tines/teeth mainly for durability or longevity. An addition to the current design could be some sort of amphitheater-like hood to put over top to contribute to amplification efforts.
dude, this is awesome man...I dunno why you arent working on more content but you have some definite chops for design and you should absolutely go for it!
My apologies if this comment gets long, but here it is :) I have quite a fascination with music boxes, so this was really cool for me to listen to! Nice to see someone who actually freaking makes a music box pretty much entirely from scratch, as opposed to just buying the musical mechanics of a music box (I.E a "music box movement") and just mounting it into a box that you or someone else made. A lot of stuff I've seen online that tells you how to build a music box just tells you to essentially buy an already-existing music box mechanism and just build a box to mount it into. But it seems you actually "made" a music box (I.E the box plus the mechanics plus the actual sound source). That means it's actually something "original" and not just buying some off-the-shelf music box mechanism that someone else made and just mounting that into a box. I like how it sounds too; it sounds more like a stringed instrument rather than the chime-like sound everyone knows from music boxes, but I actually like that! Just goes to show that a music box can technically sound like any instrument you want it to sound like, as the pins or "picks" on the cylinder are pretty much just acting as performance data (and this is akin to how MIDI works). You could make it sound like a "music box" like what we've all heard before, or you could make it sound like a set of drums! Or, another idea is that some folks have essentially made a kind of device that is quite literally a MIDI controller in the form of a music box. Instead of the pins on the cylinder plucking teeth on a "comb" as it's often called, the pins instead activate electronic sensors or switches of some kind; the signals from those sensors are then converted into MIDI to trigger samplers or synthesizers or drum machines. The "XOXX Composer" made by Axel Bluhme is an example of this idea.
Have you ever thought of buying sheet metal and clipping the teeth yourself? Then wedge them between two layers of wood/plastic/metal and bolt them down?
Love this video and the monster musical box chime. Could you get access to a CNC and cut a set of prongs from some spring steel, then trim the ends til they hit/twang🙂 the right note. I subed so I can keep watching your projects. Thanks man.
you could buy an comb off of amazon and use that. Only issue is those combs are really small. Making the whole thing smaller mike cause issues though so not sure :/
"sounds really crappy"? OK, sure, maybe in the earlier prototypes the Murobox sounded crappy, but have you seen any of the more recent RUclips videos of the progress on that device? I've seen a lot of videos on it (purely because I find the concept rather fascinating), and it's gotten to the point where it sounds really quite acceptable. Perhaps you're looking at an earlier prototype version?
Does anyone know how to figure out how large to make the cutout in the picks so that they bend properly when you insert them? (also you got me with the rick roll 😢, nice job)
This is a really high quality video for a channel this small, keep up the good work 👍
Thanks man, I appreciate the confidence!!

I know what you mean, that’s probably why I ended up making a video haha. I appreciate it!
What a cool idea. I know 3D design but i don't yet have my own 3D printer. I think it's time

Right when your spin it after you talk that sound did this OOOWAAAT! in a VERY SENSITIVITY WAY!!!!!
“Guess the next song”
Me: this will get fun
*instant rick roll*

Forget sheet metal. You can recycle tin cans for this.
Pretty awesome first video. We will watch your career with great interest
This was REALLY neat! Nice work!
Awesome!!! Except the squeek..wd40? Luv the idea so much.i hope to buy one ❤
I envy your talent! Love the idea. You spoke about making changes. Perhaps longer tines? Thanks for sharing.
nice edit bro
GREAT WORK! Greeting from Portugal.
the goofie ah music in the 3d printing part
Looking forward for this channel to increase in subs! Well done.
amazing

why u got barely any subs your great man! you deserve way more support
Keep up the good work man
The idea is very cool !!!
nice rick roll man
Dooooooooooooooooope, you are my hero
Loser
Wow wow wow wow wow EPIC

That’s actually a great idea that I haven’t thought of! Thanks
Great vid!
I'd love to see if you could do this with metal picks.
Metal picks and combs are essential.
Sicc vid brah
Will it work if i'll buy metal sheet and try clipping the teeth myself and using a metal comb or maybe a 3d printed one?
Some Indegogo prototype (Murobox) claims to be a programmable music box. It works, but the sound is really crappy. Almost as bad as yours. : )

You rickrolled me-
Gotcha

Could you share the details on Programming the music Box, info would be appreciated thank you. I like your video very informative.

5:03!
