RIP Mr Monty Norman, who died age 94, on 11 July 2022, in England. He was the composer of the James Bond theme.
I thought it was John Barry. Were they collaborators?
@@FiveJordans Monty Norman composed the basic theme. It first appeared as a song called "Bad Sign, Good Sign" in a proposed musical adaptation of "A House for Mr Biswas" (the VS Naipaul novel). It was then adapted and arranged by John Barry.

R.I.P to the best James Bond. George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig all turned in great performances as 007 but NONE of them compared to Sean Connery. Rest easy Sir Sean Connery. You will be missed.

It's the electronic guitar riff.
I think it's the best arrangement of the Bond theme but that electric guitar solo really makes this theme.
When they don't have the guitar in later recordings, the Bond theme doesn't work as well.

I agree Sean Connery was the best to play Bond. But I have to disagree with Brosnan, I did not care much for him, onloy a bit better than Roger Moore in my opinion.

The Dr. No Gunbarrel is one of my favorites. The slow and quiet sounds as Bond Walks along and *BANG* , one of the best gunshot sounds, and into the first ever Bond theme

back then colored pictures were still the talk of the town on big name media. hence the use of simple dots and color over anything else as an opening theme.

I saw the film about fifty years ago and enjoyed it an action film, full of surprises. For me the musical theme is very good. I had no Heard it in forty years or so but it still sounds good.

I’m 11 and I grew up with James Bond, it was my mums favourite movies ever. She had the golden box set and we always watched them.
Still the best version of the Bond theme ever recorded.
The guitar riff really makes it.
For whatever reasons, they never really recaptured the full feel (probably because of equipment/hardware and instrument changes) in later recordings but they did a decent version of this theme in The Spy Who Loved Me As Well where they also had a strong guitar riff.

Sean Connery the one and only Bond for me, classy and witty. Sean was a very good actor who stars with many great movies not only Bond series but also Name of Rose, Highlander, Marnie, Indiana Jones The Last Crusade and more. I like to rewatch them from time to time. Rest in peace Sean nothing is forgotten nothing is ever forgotten 🕯🌹
