So gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. The videos are always so informative, and you explain things in a calm, easy to understand way. Watercolor is hard but, I'm learning so much from watching you.
Another wonderful composition of the Acadia coast. As always, an informative, explanatory tutorial of the painting process. The result speaks for itself.
Your teaching technique is so informative that it makes this actually look easy ( but I know better). I learned many methods and hints from this video. You have convinced me to stop using acrylics for awhile and try watercolors. Thank you for sharing your gifts of painting and teaching. You are an awesome painter- and I watch many artists on youtube that cannot meet your standards. Judy Tromblee, AZ.
Rick, Like how you enhanced the composition of the photo & how you mixed complimentary colors but would have liked seeing how you did your mixing on the palette. Also I was wondering if you prefer one brand of paints or would say what brand of the colors you use ? Also like your showing how you use the mist water & blotting. You have the Master's Touch!
Thanks for the great feedback Karen! I'm not set up to be able to show my mixing while painting. It's something that's been mentioned and I continue to look at options. I have all the paints on my palette listed on the studio page of my website. Here is the link rsurowiczart.com/studio/
It's a Holbein color made from the pigment PB60. It's closer to Indanthrone blue, Indanthrene blue, or Delft blue. It's not as powerful or green as phthalo and darker than ultramarine. Not too far from indigo but not the same.
@@RickSurowiczWatercolor interesting. I have an opportunity to purchase the complete line of Holbein and have been on the fence about it. Have the sennelier complete line and ordering wiñsor newton complete line. Another artist I know used wiñsor and switched to Holbein. Holbein is the only watercolor I haven't used
I use a variety of brands. I like certain colors by certain manufacturers. You can see a layout of my palette with colors and brands on the studio page of my website: rsurowiczart.com/studio/
You require confidence that the watercolour paint is going to dry that value lighter. Whilst watching I am saying that's to dark then the paint drys and it is correct.
It's hard to condense a 2 hour painting into 15 minutes and still give people what they want to see. Some like the longer videos with everything and others like an abbreviated version.

Thank you, Rick for this beautiful demo. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Do you have a color chart that shows the pigment combinations you use for your work?
Thank you for sharing. You refer to royal blue? Would that be a phthalo blue or ultramarine?

It is something you have to think about and get a feel for.
Next time u r at Acadia call me we’ll paint....
The painting was good, but the video is too long.
