The key here is that the zones can’t run at the same time. They run one after another even on the same start time. This was very helpful because nowhere in the manual does it explain this and I couldn’t figure out why my 2nd zone wasn’t turning on. It just has to wait for the first zone to finish watering. Thank you!
Just learned this myself. What a crappy instruction manual. Also can’t pop off the piece for the battery backup, and the knob doesn’t always update the display.
Holy crap, this video was unbelievably helpful. I watched like 3 videos prior to this and was still a bit confused (first time homebuyer), but after seeing this I understand my system 100%. Thanks You :)
Great video i had been dealing with my system for awhile. it keep turning on all 4 zones on repeatedly and now i see why. i had set 4 different start times 30 mins apart from each other , thank you for this informative video

Best video I watch so far I have one question 🙋🏻♀️ how to clear program B I have mine wrong set up in program B and never stop finally I learn from you has to be in program A
The best way to clear the program B is go through each step starting at "start times", push the program button until the letter on the controller reads "B", and begin making sure each section is "off". Switch to "run times", "water days", etc and make sure you turn every step to "off". If this is not clear, let us know and we will make a separate video on clearing a program. Thank you!
@@thriveos great great video. You didn’t overtalk, got the exact info out without using too much tech speak. One question - what was them at rain/snow gage you were mentioning? I have this system already and am interested in it.
Question: at the end of season, I turn-off (OFF) my Hunter X-Core controller. Next season, I turn-on (RUN) my controller is last years settings still in the system or do I have to re-program it again?
Thank you so much bro ! So what if I want to set my zone 1 ( front grass) to 10 minutes at 4:00am and 30 minutes around 7:30pm in the same day ? Can I do that ??
Program B and C are only if you are trying to water a specific zone(s) separately from everything else. So if you want to water lets say a flowerbed zone everyday, while everything else is only 2 or 3 days, then you would set the flowerbed zone on program B and set it for separate times.
That involves installing a control valve and installing the wiring from the controller to the new valve. A 2nd option which would exclude the need for installing new wiring from the controller out to the field is to install a "Add-a-zone" unit. I suggest googling the add-a-zone product to understand more about this option.
Just watched this whole video and it was very helpful. I am running into one issue right now though. Whenever I turn the dial to the “run” position it reads on my screen “NO AC”. How do I fix that?
I just moved to greenville sc, and am wondering how to winterize or simply shut down my Hunter x core underground lawn sprinkler . I have a BIB valve in the garage and also a water controller at the edge of the yard. I was thinking that all I need to do is cut of the BIB valve in the garage. OR do I need to also cut off the water supply at the yard? Also is there a need to run any of the zones in the yard ( I have 6 zones on .30 acre) Thank you for any details.
Is there a way to review historical run times? Can Hunter X-Core automatically display past start/stop times? I suspect we have been watering much longer than we want (possibly due to manual programming error).
Hi Linda, The X-Core does not have a historical run times but the Hunter X2 with the Wifi Wand does. This controller would connect to the Hydrawise App and we HIGHLY suggest this controller and app to control your sprinkler system. The app has many great options and more importantly has a historical watering calendar! Hope this helps!
Hi I turned off my hunter x core unit last year winter tim,but when I turned it on summer time it lost preprogrammed days so I followed your helpful video to run Tuesday and Saturday which it does do,but the front yard 3 zones come on all other days of the week when I've set them off.I've tried the reset button on side of unit and held down program button and right side arrow but now front and rear zones are coming on everyday can you please help me thank you in advance.
Go to "water days" and check programs B and C. There is a high chance you have days set for the other programs. Watch the video again to see how to check different programs.
@@thriveos omg! You were correct it had B & C with run minutes so I turned B & C off and now have just A running the 6 stations on set minutes watering days set for Tuesday & Saturday.I will check tomorrow Friday hopefully shouldn't come on and should come on Saturday. The previous home owners must of had it set A,B,C its been doing my head in lol thank you so much, much appreciated from Perth Australia 🇦🇺 🙌👍🙂
Also I have a wireless rain sensor so I'm guessing if the sprinklers come on while it's raining they would automatically turn off would I be correct? Oh! And the hunter x core unit looks hard wired as its not plugged into power socket.Just wondering that battery in the Hunter unit 2032 battery I think is that to run rain sensor or the hunter unit? Unit is running fine but I'll probably replace that battery not sure how old it is and I guess will have to reset unit again thank you again in advance
The sensor bypass switch is used to bypass any information the sensor is sending to the controller. This only affects you if you have a working rain/freeze sensor connected to your controller. If the switch is active, then it will do what the sensor tells it to do. If it is in bypass, then it will bypass the sensor.
Great video. I'm most of the way there. It's not clear to me if say you had 4 start times on one station (for growing grass from seed) every 4 hours, (with 4 cycles each) is it important for the other stations to not overlap in time sequences. I'm thinking they shouldn't. I have 5 stations and only one is being re-seeded right now. Or, if I put the station in question on program b by itself, do I still have to make sure times don't overlap. I was going to start with 10 minutes cycle time and 50 minutes soak, so there is enough time to run other stations in between cycle times. Sort of depends on the weather and heat. Again, great job!
Start time only call for Strat time ,1 or2 or3 or 4 only select one time and am and that manage all the station according to the run time entered and the same for water in the afternoon PM, that's handle two time of watering a day ,AM/PM.
Hello all, I have this model with 4-channel indoor. Who can tell me please, why it starts from the beginning after the end of the 4 sectors, as if it is put on "repeat" ?
Was becoming confused regarding zones. Only 4, but then we have individual stations could be several more.. you kept saying “zones” but it should be called stations. Is that correct?
The system didn’t come on on the day and time it was supposed to. Is it because the ground is still wet from the previous day’s rain? - not overnight. I checked the control panel and everything is set right.
We will be posting a instructional video on how to troubleshoot your controller to verify what the problem may be. You will need a volt meter. Stay tuned!
Good video, but how about setting water times based on interval, example every 3 days starting a specific day? In other words not on even or odd days or running specific days of the week.
Hello! In Texas, most cities have regulated the watering days for homes. Depending on your address, you are only allowed to water on your chosen days. For example, if the last number in your address is an even number (2,4,6, etc.) then your watering days would be Wednesday's and Saturday's. If the address ends in an odd numbers (1,3,5, etc.) your chosen days would be Thursday and Sunday. Hope this helps!
The setting is for 1minute after every 1hour and will stop after 12 step but what should I do if I want 1minute after every 15 minutes instead of 1hour for 12 hours
Hi Shirley, Let's say your city only allows you to water your pop up heads twice a week, but allows you to water your drip zones (often installed in flowerbeds and areas less than 48" wide) as often as you would like. In this scenario, you would schedule your grass zones (pop up head zones) on program A (i.e. Wednesday and Saturday) and then schedule your drip zone on more days of the week (i.e. Monday, Tuesday, Thurs, and Friday). This allows you to water different sections at different times (days and start times). Hope this helps!
Ours runs the 4 zones that we have programmed, and then it starts over again. I don’t understand. Program B and C say 0 for time. It doesn’t make any sense.
The best option is to turn the controller in the off position for approximately 5-7 seconds to allow the controller to completely shut off and then turn it back in the "run" position. Once back in the "run" position, the controller will operate the normal scheduled programs.
Thanks. Video helped me start. But, i am still a bit lost. Let me explain. I have 4 zones. All set and running as i want but i want zone one to run twice a day. The other 3 zones just once a day every second day. How do i set this up. Its out of my brains league. I mean how does the following sentence make sense... I have a 6 zone programer, each zone can start 4 up to four times a day and i have three programmes per @#😮😅&"** . Please help. 😂😂😂
You can do this by putting all of the zones that you want to run once a day every second day on program A and leave off the 1 zone that will run different. Once you've set the start times, run times, and water days for those 3 zones on program A, then you will switch to Program B and set the 1 zone twice a day on whatever days you want. Make sure you calculate what time your program A will start and stop so that whatever time you start and stop your 1 zone, it doesn't overlap with your other program run times. Hope that helps.
Lesson one, throw it in the garbage. Seriously, this is the most prone to fail controller from Hunter, I don't recommend this little gadget to anybody.

Apologies for the delay. The bypass switch is to bypass your rain and freeze sensor. To keep it simple, if you set the switch to bypass, it will ignore what the rain sensor tells it to do if you have one installed. If the sensor gets wet and tells the controller to prevent watering, and the switch is in bypass, it will ignore the sensor. Hope that helps.
It is annoying to watch your tutorial change its display (blurring) when it's focusing on your hand than on the controller. I would not say this was a good tutorial but thanks for creating one. My only question is on the Start time. When you set one start time, it is applicable to all zones since when the run time starts, it will run all your zones consecutively throughout the cycle. Is this right? Otherwise, the second start time will activate all your zones again. I hope I am right. Thank you for the presentation.
